Abstract

This research was motivated by the students' learning obstacle in understanding the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. So this research aims to develop a didactic design on the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions in grade 5 elementary schools based on student learning trajectories and can improve students' learning obstacles on addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. This research used the Didactical Design Research (DDR) method in one of the elementary schools in Bandung, with the subjects being 30 students in grade 5 and 29 students in grade 6. The data collection techniques used tests, interview, document analysis, focus group discussion (FGD), and observation. The results of this research indicated that the Didactic Design has a positive impact on student understanding and reduces the students' learning obstacles which are ontogenic, epistemological and didactical on the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. Then, the average score of the students after the didactic design implementation was 75.3. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers in developing didactic designs for learning mathematics, especially fraction material in elementary schools using Didactical Design Research (DDR).

Abstract

The conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic caused learning to change to once a week, limited teaching materials at SDN 29 Idai, and a decrease in the values of preserving Dayak culture in Idai village. Through the integration of the concepts of mathematics and culture, this study aims to develop an ethnomathematics module based on the Dayak culture in mathematics learning with a joyful learning approach. This research is a research development or Research and Development (R & D) with a research method using the Hanafin & Peck development model which focuses on solving problems of quality constraints and development complexity which consists of three stages, namely; 1) needs assessment; 2) the design stage, and 3) development and evaluation. The data collection technique used observation, interview, and ethnomathematics module validation sheets which were filled in by two reviewers, while module trials were conducted in grade 4 SDN 29 Idai. The results showed that the ethnomathematics module based on the Dayak culture with a joyful learning approach got good results so that it could be used to teach math concepts to grade 4 students at SDN 29 Idai.

Abstract

Teachers as the spearhead of education who are directly related to students are expected to be able to provide positive content in fostering the characteristics of 21st century learning, in the form of: critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication (4C). The purpose of these activities is to be able to equip and foster creativity, productivity, and to prepare students for the progress of the 21st century. Based on preliminary observations, it is known that learning triggers the growth of 21st century characteristics (4C) in grade 3 students of Langenharjo 2 Elementary School in the learning process. very low. Simple Rocket Design (SIM-ROSI) is a design developed as a solution to improve the quality of student learning. Developed with a 4D development research model according to Thiagarajan. Supported by the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBl) -based learning and Engineering Science Technology Art and Math (STEAM). Development success indicators are based on observations of students' 4C activities in learning. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and statistical tests using paired sample t-test. The results of the analysis show the conclusion that SIM-ROSI based on PjBL and STEAM is very effective in increasing the 4C activities of students in thematic learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine objectively about the improvement of learning outcomes in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) through the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model with Camtasia Studio in class VIII junior high school students. The method used in this research is the classroom action research method according to Mc Taggart, R and Kemmis, S which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The procedure is carried out in the form of a cycle that lasts two cycles with each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Data presentation was carried out by means of quantitative analysis which was measured based on a written test conducted at the end of each cycle. The results showed that quantitatively there was an increase in ICT learning outcomes after the application of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model with Camtasia Studio, namely the increase in: (a) The average from cycle 1 = 83.91 to = 89.35 in the cycle 2, or there is an increase of 5.43 values; (b) The number of students who scored ≥ 75 (KKM = 75): from cycle 1 = 78.26% to 100% in cycle 2, or an increase of 21.74%.

Abstract

The research was aimed at improving the student’s activeness and speaking skill by using role exchange model and character doll media. The research consisted two cycles.The procedures were: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The study used two data. The qualitative data through observation the student’s activeness in learning process.The quantitative data were obtained by speaking test performance. The students’ activeness with high score in preliminary observation reached 5 students (17,86%) improved 23 students (82,14%) in Cycle II. It can be seen that all students paid attention their teacher, engaged in problem solving and applied they learned. Most of them also had ideas and gave the questions. The data of the speaking skill assessment in preliminary observation showed that 42,85% (12 students) got the same score or above KKM with the average 61,77  increased 89.29% (23 students) with the average score was 77.3 in second cycle. Improvement was significant especially in student’s vocabulary mastery, comprehension and fluency. While, grammar and pronunciation improved although was not significant. The conclusion of this research is that: (1) the students’speaking skill improves from the previous condition, first cycle and then second cycle; 2) the students’ activeness in English teaching learning also improves.

Abstract

It is hoped that this research on learning the Mother technique assisted by YouTube channels is expected to be able to improve the skills of writing causality conjunctions in explanatory text and response texts of students of Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 3 Pati, Central Java. The term Mother refers to two things, the first means mother while the second one from the acronym Model, Observation (observation), Write, Generate, Evaluate, and Revise. This research is a learning development research with the ADDIE model according to Dick and Carey (1996) including Analysis (analyzing student needs in writing causality conjunctions), Design (designing teaching materials using Mother's technique and validating teaching materials). Develop (development, namely testing the use of teaching materials), Implement (applying the Mother technique), and Evaluate (revising the writing of the causality conjunction of students' texts in the class which is the subject of research). The subjects of this study were two classes, namely class VIII A consisting of 32 students and class IX J totaling 27 students, so the overall subject of this study was 59 students. The results of this study showed 93% completed in groups and 92% completed individually.

Abstract

The research objective was to improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes through the use of Pakar Pati (Pohon Akar Pangkat Tiga) media of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kendaga. The research subjects in the study were 25 fifth grade students at SD Negeri 1 Kendaga. The method used in this research was classroom action research, by performing two actions in two cycles. Each cycle had four stages of activity, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The results of this study indicated that the use of cube root tree media (Pakar Pati) can improve critical thinking skills in learning mathematics for fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kendaga. Students' ability to formulate problems, collect data, analyze, ask and answer questions, make observations and provide conclusions increases. Learning outcomes increased in the ability to solve problems and understand the cube root material.

Abstract

Motivation and writing skill become interesting issue to know by all teachers. One of the writing assignments for eighth graders is writing greeting card.  This study was aimed to examine whether the implementing of project-based learning and the use of Canva can improve students’ motivation and writing skills. The subject of this Classroom Action Research (CAR) was 30 students of class VIIIE of SMPN I Terbanggi Besar in the academic year 2019/2020 consisting 10 males and 20 females. Data collecting techniques were conducted by giving questionnaire to know the students’ motivation and writing project to know the students’ writing skill. This study conducted in two cycles. The finding of cycle I and cycle II show that the students’ score for motivation and writing aspects was increase. The mean score for the the student’s motivation was 59,9 in preliminary study, 74,1 in cycle I and 84,9 in cycle II. The mean score for students’ writing was 56,7 in preliminary study, 69,3 in cycle I and 79,6 in cycle II. It can be concluded that the implementing of project-based learning and the use of Canva can improve students’ motivation and writing skill.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of learning media for educational games based on android which is still rarely found, even though it is known that 21st-century learning models of learning and learning media are unlimited, and are carried out with the help of information and communication technology. Students are required to think critically, creatively in solving problems in new situations (HOTS). This study aims to produce learning media for android-based educational word search games to stimulate HOTS learning in social studies subjects. This type of research is development research with a 4-D model. This research was conducted at Public Elementary School 54 Payakumbuh with the subject of grade VI students. The results obtained from this study are an educational game looking for words based on android, which can improve student learning outcomes. The results of the validity test of learning media by media experts, material experts, and linguists are very good results. The practicality test of the assessment media was carried out by 25 students, and the assessment by the parents of the students was very good. The test of the effectiveness of learning media shows that student learning outcomes have increased. Based on these results, it was concluded that the learning media for word search educational games were developed and could stimulate HOTS learning.

Abstract

Lack of understanding mathematical concepts that students accept will lead to low student learning outcomes. Teachers as a learning resource are obliged to provide a creative learning environment for students in the classroom.  One of the activities that must be carried out by the teacher is selecting and determining appropriate media for learning.  The objective of this research to determine improved learning outcomes in calculating the area of flat shape using potbangtar media.  This research uses two rounds of action research.  Each round consists of 4 stages, namely design, activity, observation, reflection, and revision.  The data obtained are in the form of evaluation test results, observation sheets of teaching and learning activities.  From the results of data analysis found that student learning outcomes increased from cycle I to cycle II, from 75.61 to 80.49 and student learning completeness also increased from cycle I (85.37%) to cycle II to (95.12%)  ).  We can conclude that the usage of potbangtar media to calculate the area of the flat shape is very effective so that the learning outcomes of the fifth-grade students of SDN MIJI 4, Mojokerto increase.
