Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of English listening skills toward the grade IX A2 students of  SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja through DiET BOS technique. The study used a classroom action research design. The subjects of this study were the 29 students of grade IX A2 at SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja in Academic Year 2017/2018. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The data analysis revealed that the mean score of students’ ability in listening to the text in the first cycle is equal to 77,93 and the mean score of students’ ability in listening to the text in the second cycle is 86,21. Based on those findings, it can be concluded that the students’ listening skill in the first cycle to the second cycle has increased to 8,28. According to the data analysis results and the discussion, it can be summarised that the students’ listening skills to the text have increased significantly by the application of the DiET BOS technique in the first cycle to the second cycle.

Abstract

The preliminary research showed that the average of student learning outcomes in Music Subjects is still in the low category. The reflection process shows that the previous teaching and learning process was not connected with the student's real life. The strategy of teaching and learning that connect and near to the student activities is contextual teaching and learning (CTL). The aims of this research are to describe: (1) the teacher activities while implementing CTL; (2) the student activities in the implementation of CTL; and (3) the increasing of student learning outcomes in playing musical instrument recorder in accordance with the notation of music after CTL process. The research methodology is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of three cycles (Kemmis & Mc. Taggart). The model of CAR consists of four steps that are planning, actuating, observing, and reflection. This research was conducted in SMPN 4 Mataram with the subject of students in class IX 4 that consists of 29 people in the Odd semester of Academic Year 2017/ 2018. The results of the research showed an improvement of teacher activities in the first cycle to the second cycle and the second cycle to the third cycle around 13.51% and 7.14%. The improvement of student activities in the first cycle to the second cycle and the second cycle to the third cycle around 10.71% and 9.67%. Moreover, the improvement of teacher and students' activities lead to the improvement of student learning outcome on knowledge aspect which increased on the first cycle to the second cycle and the second cycle to the third cycle around 16 points and 12 points, and on the skills, aspect increased on the first cycle to the second cycle and the second cycle to the third cycle around 13 points and 8 points.

Abstract

This learning innovation study aims to find out whether the method of Ulum Tuan Baik with Lusapa media can improve the writing skills of Javanese script and how the method of Ulum Tuan Baik with Lusapa media can improve the writing skills of Javanese script to the students of Class VII A UPTD SMPN 2 Tarokan in the school year of 2017/2018. The data analysis method that is used in this study is quantitative and qualitative, using test instruments to obtain quantitative data and non-test instruments to obtain qualitative data. The results of the study have obtained that the Ulum Tuan Baik method with Lusapa media is proven to be able to improve the ability of the students to write sentences using Javanese script with its sandhangan and pasangan. Improvement of the writing skills of Javanese script seen from the class average value which has increased at each stage of the study. Class average value on the pre-action stage is 67.96. On the first cycle, it has increased by 75.93%  and on the second cycle, it has increased by 82.96%.

Abstract

Science learning on changes in natural appearance material in the 5th grade of SDN Kwadungan is still not optimal. It is proved by the achievement of classical completeness that is only 55% with an average score of 69.00. The purpose of this study is to develop and to evaluate the use of the Global Warming Simulator and to improve science learning outcomes. Global Warming Simulator is a learning media in the form of two miniatures about the appearance of nature. The first miniature is the appearance of a nature sight that is still original and has not been affected by global warming, while the second miniature is the appearance of nature sight that has been affected by global warming. The results of this study indicate an improving learning outcome in science after the use of the Global Warming Simulator in the learning activities. The achievement of classical completeness has increased from 60% with an average value of 72.3 at the first meeting to 83.30% with an average value of 80.13 at the second meeting. This indicates that the use of Global Warming Simulator in science learning can improve student learning achievement.

Abstract

This classroom action research is based on the low English score, especially on the writing skill aspect in Report Text material. The learners are lack confidence, feel saturated, and less interested to write in English. The research aims to increase the result of studying in writing the simple paragraph of Report Text in the first cycle and second cycle by using Break and Put Media. The research is carried out from January to April 2017 in Class IX of SMP Unggul Pidie Jaya. The study consists of two cycles, each cycle consists of two meetings. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques and tools used in this research are descriptive analysis techniques, in the form of documents of the learners’ paperwork, score list, and observation sheets. The results of the research indicate that Break and Put Media causes a fun learning situation so that there is an increase in student learning outcomes. The increase occurred from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle, the number of learners who received a complete score is 10 people or 47.21%  and the incomplete score is 11 learners or 52.38%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, there is an increase of the complete score to 20 learners or 87% and an incomplete score to 3 learners or 13%. So, there is an increase of about 39.79% from cycle I to cycle II. The conclusion is the use of Break and Put Media can increase the learning outcomes of the learners in Class IX of SMP Unggul Pidie Jaya on Report Text material.

Abstract

The activeness of inter-student English-language communication in class is still very lacking. Students tend to be passive and lack of confidence in communicating using English. Student’s ability in telling stories is still unsatisfactory. This research is intended to find alternative solutions to improve their abilities in narrative stories. "Barneto Dora" is offered as a method to overcome those problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of Barneto Dora and to find out the results of its improvements. The method used in this study is classroom action research. The research subjects are students of Class IX E of SMP 4 Tuban. The technique of collecting data used in this study are observation, field notes, questionnaires, and tests. The data is analyzed by qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The results indicate that through Barneto Dora, students' English storytelling skills increased significantly. This increase can be seen from the increase in the average class score in storytelling. The previous class average score is 55.27 and increased to 78.00.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the improvement of students’ problem-solving skills on the Periphery and Area of Flat Shapes through the implementation of FEM method. The method of this research is a classroom action research (CAR) that consists of 2 cycles according to Kemmis & Mc. Taggart Model of CAR. The subjects of this research are 17 students of SD Islam Al-Farah that consists of 5 males and 12 females. The result of the research shows the improvement of students’ ability in mathematical problem-solving. The results of the cycle I of the research are obtained from the students who completed minimum criteria that less than 36%. Meanwhile, the results of cycle II have increased with 94% at the first treatment, 88.23% at the second treatment, and finally 94,11% at the third treatment. Based on the results of this research, the implementation of FEM method through multiplication box and unit lift can improve students’ ability in mathematical problem-solving.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to explain the Koper Edukasi ASEAN as an innovative media about the stages of children's cognitive development, to explain how to use it in civics learning, and to describe the magnitude of improvement in student learning outcomes after using innovative media Koper Edukasi ASEAN in civics learning in 6th grades of SDN Bantal in the school year 2017/2018. The innovative media of the Koper Edukasi ASEAN is used in civics learning about ASEAN in three meetings. At each meeting, learning uses the Koper Edukasi ASEAN media with different materials. The method used in this research is the quasi-experimental method. The form of quasi-experimental design used is time-series design. The use of the Koper Edukasi ASEAN is adjusted to the syntax which consists of five stages, i.e. group formation, group assignment work, presentation of the results of group discussions, discussion of the results of group discussions, and awards. The application of the syntaxes is complemented by how it is adjusted according to the civics learning implementation plan on ASEAN materials. The results of this research show that the use of Koper Edukasi ASEAN increases student’s learning outcomes, proven from the class average value which was originally 66 has increased to 84, which means it has increased 18 (21%). The Learning completeness which was originally 60% has increased to 100%, which means it has increased by 40%.

Abstract

One of the components of projected 21st-century education needed is 4C, i.e. critical thinking, creativity, collaborative, and communicative. The reality faced is students are very passive in English learning activities in the classroom. This shows that students' speaking skill is still low.  In addition, the learning is still dominated by the lecture method and individual tasks. With the aim of improving students' speaking skills, the teacher designs a combination of learning media between conventional and modern media namely Flavid (flashcard and video presentation). The purpose of this research is to find out how the use of Flavid on procedure text can improve the speaking ability of the students in Class IX-A of SMPN 2 Pelaihari. The results of this study are that the usage of flexible media in the learning process proved successful in improving students' speaking skills in English subjects. This can be seen based on the increase in the average value obtained by students from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle the number of students who has complete score is 7.41% and in the second cycle 74.07%. The ability to speak using Flavid media has increased by 66.66%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding of the concept of the Pythagorean Theorem by applying discovery methods through the media on the board of students in Grade VIII.2 State Junior High School 26 Palembang. This research is a classroom action research by implementing the discovery method through the integrity board in the learning process of the Pythagorean Theorem. Data collection techniques were carried out by tests, interviews, observation sheets, and field notes. The results of this study indicate that the discovery method through integrity board has the advantage of overcoming students' misunderstanding in the material of the Pythagorean Theorem so that this impacts on student learning outcomes. The results of this final test further strengthen the interview subject's statement that students' understanding of the material is increasing. The final test score average of Cycle 1 is 61.43, Cycle 2 is 70.14 with a success rate of 57.14% to 77.14%, and Cycle 3 to 76.29 with a success rate of 77.14% to 88.57%.
