Abstract

Meaningful learning is learning that takes the side of students and makes students as the main actors who are active with their friends identifying problems, looking for solutions and concluding and actively communicating in learning activities. Activities like this can be done by implementing the Discovery Learning model. The purpose of this study was to improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in the classification of living things. This research is a Classroom Action Research model of Kemmis and Taggart through four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting which were carried out in two cycles and each cycle carried out three meetings. The results of the data analysis showed that the percentage of students who achieved the critical thinking indicator was 14 students (56.00%), 17 students (68.00%) who achieved the knowledge competency learning outcomes. Whereas in Cycle 2, there were 22 students (88.00%) who reached the critical thinking ability indicator, and 21 students (84.00%) who reached the learning outcome indicator. From the results of these studies it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning learning model can improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe students’ spatial thinking in the mental rotation mental rotation construct before and after exploring Google SketchUp media. This study is a qualitative approach and case study methods. Each participants was selected by two students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities respectively. The instruments were written tests of mental rotation construct and interview guidelines. The research procedures were: (1) students worked on pre-test ; (2) initial interview; (3) students explored rotations activities with Google SketchUp; (4) student  worked on post-test; (5) final interview. Results of the pre-test  and initial interviews showed that students struggled to employ spatial reasoning in mental rotation construct for the cube rotation in all directions. The results of the post-test and the final interview showed that these six students were able to employ spatial reasoning in  mental rotation construct for all indicators. Thus it is concluded that the use of Google SketchUp media can change the way of thinking of mental rotation constructs of spatial thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in learning outcomes and teacher and student activities in the learning process using the Two Stay Two Stray method on Theme 6 Sub-theme 1 Animal and Plant Diversity. This study used a qualitative approach with the type of classroom action research. The data sources were all students in grade IV SD Negeri 9 Jangka for the 2018/2019 academic year, totaling 16 people. Data were collected through tests, observations, interviews, and field notes. The results showed that the application of Two Stay Two Stray learning can improve student learning outcomes on the material diversity of animals and plants in class IV SD Negeri 9 Term. This can be seen from the results of the final test cycle I obtained a percentage of 62.50 percent and in cycle II increased to 87.50 percent. The activities of teachers and students in the learning process are included in the very good category and students are seen to be active in the implementation of learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Two Stay Two Stray model can improve learning outcomes and teacher and student activities on science material in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to develop a media-based 21st-century learning model in the form of cognitive and affective learning media to cultivate Pancasila values ​​and be aware of the constitution (SIPANCA), test the feasibility and practicality of the media, and measure the effectiveness of the media. The development method is used to refer to the development steps of Gall and Borg (2008) and adopted into five phases. The results of this development are the creation of final media with specifications by affective and cognitive goals, and this media is declared feasible by media experts and field users with high eligibility criteria with an average score of 3,875 out of a total score 4 (3.875/4) for the validation of SIPANCA game; the validation of SIPANCA application (3.75/4); the validation of microcontroller-based SIPANCA shielding media (3.75/4); the practically test of SIPANCA game (3.875/4); the practically test of SIPANCA application (3.975/4); and the practically test of microcontroller-based SIPANCA shielding media (3.93/4). The development of a 21st-century media-based learning model of character with the theme of Pancasila values ​​and awareness of the constitution provides theoretical benefits to the reference of studies in the fields of education, learning, and media development related to learning strategies in schools.

Abstract

The understanding of the concept of adding fractions of grade V SD Negeri Padike II students is low and has not reached the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) that has been set by the school. It can be seen from the number of students as many as 23 people, who have fulfilled the KKM as many as 8 people (34.78%), while 15 people (65.22%) do not meet. This is because during learning, students are not actively involved, starting from experiencing, interacting, communicating, being inspired, and reflecting. So that props are needed that can help them so that they active in the learning process and improve the understanding of the concept of adding fractions. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in learning activities and understanding of the concept of adding fractions to fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Padike II, Sumenep Regency. This research uses classroom action research methods that aim to improve the quality of learning by describing learning activities and understanding the concept of adding fractions for students through quantitative and qualitative data. The results obtained after applying the MIKIR (Mengalami, Interaksi, Komunikasi, Inspirasi, Refleksi) of students who did not complete were only 4 (17%) and 19 (83%) who completed or exceeded the KKM.

Abstract

The development of hots-based Crossword puzzle media in thematic learning aims to improve critical thinking skills in elementary school students, so that there will be an increase in students' critical thinking skills and an increase in student learning outcomes at SD Negeri Gadingan 02, Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency. This innovation is developed by applying research and development methods. The results obtained show that the percentage of student learning outcomes has increased, from before the use of HOTS-Based Crossword Puzzle media was obtained an average of 50.02%, then increased during trial 1 to 56.18% and increased in trial 2 to 78, 75%. The conclusion obtained on the achievement of the increase that occurs due to the use of hots-based Crossword puzzle media is that the activeness of students in using HOTS-based Crossword puzzle media is a step in increasing critical thinking skills of thematic learning.

Abstract

The problem of this research is "How the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) through the Website and E-Learning to improve the teachers skill in Distance Learning (PJJ) at Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 4 Bobotsari in the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year?". The subjects of this research were all the teachers of Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 4 Bobotsari totaling 18 people consist of 5 boys and 13 girls.  Type of the research used is the School Action Research (PTS) with a qualitative approach. The research data got from the teacher's skill data in two cycles. Teacher skill data were collected from direct observation in e-learning in each cycle. The percentage results of teachers' skill on the first cycle were 62% and the second cycle was 71%. There was an increase of 9% of teachers skill.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the students' learning obstacle in understanding the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. So this research aims to develop a didactic design on the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions in grade 5 elementary schools based on student learning trajectories and can improve students' learning obstacles on addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. This research used the Didactical Design Research (DDR) method in one of the elementary schools in Bandung, with the subjects being 30 students in grade 5 and 29 students in grade 6. The data collection techniques used tests, interview, document analysis, focus group discussion (FGD), and observation. The results of this research indicated that the Didactic Design has a positive impact on student understanding and reduces the students' learning obstacles which are ontogenic, epistemological and didactical on the addition and subtraction of mixed fractions. Then, the average score of the students after the didactic design implementation was 75.3. This research is expected to be a reference for teachers in developing didactic designs for learning mathematics, especially fraction material in elementary schools using Didactical Design Research (DDR).

Abstract

The conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic caused learning to change to once a week, limited teaching materials at SDN 29 Idai, and a decrease in the values of preserving Dayak culture in Idai village. Through the integration of the concepts of mathematics and culture, this study aims to develop an ethnomathematics module based on the Dayak culture in mathematics learning with a joyful learning approach. This research is a research development or Research and Development (R & D) with a research method using the Hanafin & Peck development model which focuses on solving problems of quality constraints and development complexity which consists of three stages, namely; 1) needs assessment; 2) the design stage, and 3) development and evaluation. The data collection technique used observation, interview, and ethnomathematics module validation sheets which were filled in by two reviewers, while module trials were conducted in grade 4 SDN 29 Idai. The results showed that the ethnomathematics module based on the Dayak culture with a joyful learning approach got good results so that it could be used to teach math concepts to grade 4 students at SDN 29 Idai.

Abstract

The learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SDN Karangtengah III for the 2019/2020 academic year, the material for small ball games (kasti) including the basic movements of running, throwing and catching the ball is still low. The results showed an increase in learning outcomes of the basic motion of running, throwing and catching the ball after using the tic tac toe ball game. The result of the improvement is that through the tic tac toe ball game, students who get learning outcomes meet the minimum completeness criteria for grade IV is 77, in the initial condition there are only six children or about 26%. After the implementation of learning using the tic tac toe ball game, students who succeeded in achieving the minimum completeness criteria 77 increased to 21 students or about 91%. The conclusion of this research is that the tic tac toe ball game can improve the learning outcomes of the basic movements of running, throwing, and catching the ball for fourth grade students of SDN Karangtengah III in the 2019/2020 academic year.
