Abstract

Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can harm the lungs and attack other organs. This will result in nursing issues, the risk of infection spreading to other organs and people, ineffective airway clearance, impaired gas exchange, nutritional disorders, and psychosocial problems. Efforts are made to overcome nursing problems by increasing the participation of patients and families, who serve as the primary supporters. The intervention performed by the patient as an agent for himself is known as self-care. Self-care is concerned with an individual's ability to care for and maintain his or her own health. Treatment, family support, and nutritional fulfillment are all part of TB treatment. The outcomes of service activity at UPT Pulmonary Health Services includes teaching health workers about self-care for TB patients, as well as conducting follow-up discussions about TB patients with anxiety in the intensive phase.

Abstract

Gedangan village, a dairy farming center, has many biogas reactors that are used for cooking and lighting petromax lamps. Previous community service activities resulted in the construction of three Biogas Power Plants (PLT-Biogas) capable of producing 15 kW of power but which were not fully utilized. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) is the approach method used to actively involve the community in the program. To optimize the PLT-Biogas, the service team rearranges the equipment and replaces the UPS with an inverter and battery charger before constructing a street lighting electricity network that can be used by the entire community. The next step is to provide operational and maintenance training for the long-term use of PLT-Biogas. As a result, the initial stage of electrical energy is currently used for street lighting in two hamlets, as well as freezers and water pumps, with a potential savings of 2,775.6 kWh per year. By converting biogas energy to electricity, this community service activity can help to kickstart the realization of an energy self-sufficient village.

Abstract

Corn is a superior agricultural product for the Giri Harjo I farmer group, Girikikis Village, Giriwoyo District, Wonogiri. However, farmers process and peel corn manually, so it takes a more time and inefficient. In order to overcome this problem, this community service designed and made a corn sheller machine that was used to simplify and increase the productivity in the corn harvesting process. This service activity begins with the delivery of the corn sheller machine to the farmer group, then exposure and training on the use of the machine. Corn shelling is accomplished by inserting the corn into the sheller shaft, after which the grinding knife separates the corn kernels from the cob. The shelling test results show that this machine works well, is practical to use, is highly portable, the production process is faster, the corncobs are not damaged, and the electric power consumption is low. This machine has a 0.5 HP motor and a production capacity of 183 kg/hour for shelling corn kernels.
