Abstract

This study aims to see how the application of the problem-based learning model was assisted by the TikTok application on straight-line equations. This research was qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were 19 class VIII-I students of SMPN 9 Bayung Lencir. The data obtained in this study were analyzed through several stages, namely reducing data, presenting data, and verifying data or drawing conclusions. The research instruments used were tests and interviews. The results of the study show that students enjoy participating in the learning process using the problem-based learning model and learning videos using the TikTok application. The results of the interviews concluded that students felt happy and enthusiastic about learning straight-line equations material because the application of problem-based learning models and learning videos using the TikTok application was their first experience and was a pleasant experience. In addition, the advantage of using learning videos using the TikTok application is that learning videos can be played back anytime and anywhere so students find it helpful when they want to repeat learning material. Furthermore, the results of observations made by the teacher concluded that the use of video learning based on the TikTok application was able to make students more focused, and more active and students were not sleepy during the learning process

Abstract

50 First Dates is a movie that broadly known around the globe in 2004 as one of the best romantic comedy movie in the 2000s. This research aims to analyze type of romanticism and the translation techniques used in the 50 First Dates movie subtitle in Amazon Prime Video. This research uses qualitative method with case study as a research design. This research uses document analysis with transcript and subtitle of the movie. The data are analyzed using theory from Lomas (2018) in finding the type of romanticism and theory by Molina and Albir (2002) to find out the types of translation techniques. Based on findings, there are 6 types of love found out of 14, namely: Philia (31.03%), Storge (25.28%), Paixnidi (21.83%), Ananke (13.79%), Epithymia (5.74%) and Pragma (2.29%). Regarding the translation techniques, 9 out of 18 types of translation techniques are found, namely; Established Equivalent (47.61%), Linguistics Compression (15.87%), Borrowing (8.73%), Reduction (8.73%), Compensation (7.93%), Linguistics Amplification (4.76%), Modulation (3.17%), Amplifications (2.38%) and Particularization (0.79%). Based on the data, the researcher found that the translation used more than one translation techniques. Therefore, the researcher grouped them into single (59.77%), duplet (31.03%), triplet (8.04%), and quadruplet group (1.14%). From the findings, it can be concluded that the most found type of love is Philia. On the other hand, the most dominant type of translation techniques is Established Equivalent with various combinations.

Abstract

This research examines the potential threat through SNG in Indonesia. The theories of threat, social media, cyber, and network society are used to analyze the research problem through qualitative analysis. Data was obtained through interviews and literature studies. The results of the study show that the potential threat on SNG includes ideological threats in society, growing illegal and pornographic content, theft of personal data, illegal monitoring of user activities, online fraud, cyberbullying, inappropriate content, dependence, and cyber attacks that threaten the activities of social network game users in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is aiming at revealing the strength and weaknesses of applying learning by teaching strategy in learning TOEFL. Since TOEFL is regarded as a challenging English proficiency test, the students need to find the suitable strategy in mastering TOEFL. This research belongs to survey research. It utilizes descriptive qualitative data analysis. Several steps were taken in this study, namely: designing survey, writing questions, designing sample, conducting the survey, analyzing the data. Then, the instruments used in this research were questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively. Based on search result, the strength of applying learning by teaching strategy are: (1) easiness, (2) practice public speaking, (3) peer-correction, (4) responsible, (5) independent. While the weaknesses are: (1) pronunciation, (2) classroom management, (3) psychological problem, (4) difficulties in transferring the material.

Abstract

The significance of students possessing public speaking skills is an issue that requires attention. As a university student, proficiency in public speaking, in this instance scientific presentations, is unquestionably essential. This is essential if you want to give a presentation, complete an assignment, participate in the community during KKN, etc. Clearly, doing all of this would be a very essential task. In this case, Public Speaking skills in the form of scientific presentations are often used by students, particularly during lectures, from the beginning to the final assignment that must be completed is the skill of presenting a scientific work. In almost all courses, students are frequently required to write and present scientific papers. Presentation is a form of communication that facilitates logical, precise, and persuasive thought. This study seeks to determine the direct relationship between vocabulary mastery and critical thinking skills and students' abilities to present scientific work. This research method is qualitative description, which provides explanations in the form of descriptions based on data from a variety of scientific sources. Using this methodology, researchers are able to explain in detail and in an organized manner the impact of vocabulary mastery and critical thinking skills on students' capacity to present scientific work. Based on the collection, analysis, and research of scientific data and references. The current research will investigate the relationship between vocabulary mastery and critical thinking skills, as well as the impact of these two factors on students' abilities to create scientific presentations
