Abstract

This research addresses the significant issue of unemployment among vocational school graduates in Indonesia and the low level of entrepreneurship among them. While previous studies have predominantly focused on the entrepreneurial intentions of high school and university student samples, there isthere needs to be more understanding of the entrepreneurial intentions of vocational school graduates. Bridging the gap, this study explores the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among vocational school graduates, particularly examining the roles of entrepreneurial knowledge and attitude toward entrepreneurship. Additionally, this research explores attitude toward entrepreneurship as a mediating variable. The study employs a survey method with data from 305 vocational school graduates in Indonesia as participants. D ta analysis uses partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The findings indicate that entrepreneurial Knowledge has a significant positive relationship with attitude toward entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, this research finds that attitude toward entrepreneurship exhibits a complementary partial mediation effect between entrepreneurial Knowledge and entrepreneurial intention. The study also suggests that interest in entrepreneurship and professional experience can enhance the entrepreneurial intentions of vocational high school graduates. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers and educators in designing strategies to promote entrepreneurship among vocational school graduates, ultimately addressing unemployment challenges in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research focuses on exploring effective efficiency in employee treatment by examining organizational commitment influenced by organizational culture and compensation, with performance and satisfaction serving as mediators. The research location was conducted at an accommodation service in Lampung with a population of 80 employees. Data collection used a saturated sampling technique for 77 employees who wanted to contribute to filling in statements related to this research. SEM-PLS is employed to uncover direct and indirect effects, yielding the following findings: Performance is directly impacted by organizational culture and compensation. Organizational commitment, however, is not directly affected by either organizational culture or compensation. On the other hand, job satisfaction is directly influenced by organizational culture and compensation. Furthermore, organizational commitment is directly influenced by performance rather than job satisfaction. Regarding indirect influence, performance variables and job satisfaction have no significant effect, so the two exogenous variables, namely organizational culture and compensation, can directly influence organizational commitment without going through performance or job satisfaction variables

Abstract

The teachers' role extends beyond academics, including sharing knowledge and imparting moral values and ethics to students. However, guardians and students have multi-dimensional expectations from their teachers, encompassing several facts and figures. Considering the context, this study investigates those multifaceted expectations aiming to bridge the gap and propose measures for enhancing the teachers' ability to meet the expectations of guardians and students. This study has collected data through a structured questionnaire survey. The sample population of this study includes guardians, students, and teachers from primary to tertiary education levels. A total of 384 samples were selected from unknown populations. A descriptive statistical technique (percentage analysis) was applied to identify patterns and trends in the quantitative data. This study finds that the expectations of guardians and students emphasize the teacher’s role as a good human being, guide, and role model. Skills for motivation, thirst for knowledge, empathy, and communication are considered the necessary qualities for an ideal teacher. Moreover, respondents argue that effective teacher-student relationships depend on fairness, openness, accessibility, and compassion. They emphasize enhancing teachers' humility, neutrality, clear communication, and ability to realize the expectations of students. The study recommends measures that may help teachers meet the intricate expectations of guardians and students, such as providing training, opportunities for higher education, ensuring academic support, teacher autonomy and flexibility, and depoliticizing educational institutions. It concludes that enhanced support and teacher training are vital in meeting the complex expectations of guardians and students. The findings of this study contribute to the enhancement of teaching-learning practices and the delivery of quality education

Abstract

Building child-friendly schools is teachers' main task so students can learn safely and comfortably. However, there are still teachers who still need to be fully aware of this. This research aims to explore elementary school teachers' perceptions of a safe and comfortable environment as an illustration of the Urban School Climate (USC). This research method is a case study with a qualitative approach. Interviews with elementary school teachers in Bogor carried out data collection. Conversations are carried out directly (face-to-face) and are recorded to ensure that the interview results match the respondent's information. Our research involved 45 teachers with permanent teacher (PT) status in 17 elementary schools in Bogor, Indonesia. The recruitment of teachers who would share their valuable insights was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and verification. The data analysis was assisted with Nvivo 12 software. The research results showed a safe and comfortable environment as an illustration of USC, including 1) a pleasant school atmosphere for students and teachers, adequate facilities and a mutually supportive atmosphere, 2) a safe environment, 3) a comfortable environment, and 4) school policies which lead to restrictions for parents when picking up their children at school, regulations regarding discipline and various binding regulations. The impact of the results of this research is that schools can build a school climate by referring to the characteristics of USC, which are described as a safe and comfortable school atmosphere and environment.

Abstract

Self-esteem plays a crucial role in shaping academic achievement among university students. This study investigates how self-esteem, gender, and age influence academic performance, particularly within the Indonesian context. Despite extensive global research, there needs to be more understanding of these dynamics among Indonesian university students. The study explores the relationships between self-esteem, gender, age, and academic achievement, identifying significant predictors and differences. A quantitative survey design was employed to gather data from 309 students across 12 Central Java, Indonesia universities. Data collection was executed through online surveys distributed via WhatsApp and Facebook. Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression techniques with SPSS. The findings confirm that self-esteem significantly impacts academic achievement, establishing it as a strong predictor of academic success. While gender differences in self-esteem were notable, age did not significantly affect self-esteem. Interestingly, no significant gender gaps in academic performance were observed, though academic achievement varied across age groups. These conclusions suggest that enhancing self-esteem could improve academic outcomes. This research contributes to the global understanding of self-esteem dynamics, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions in educational settings. The insights gained can inform educators and policymakers in developing strategies to support students' academic success in Indonesia.
