Journal of Architectural Design and Development (JAD) adalah kumpulan terbitan berkala 2 kali setahun pada bulan Juni dan Desember. Journal of Architectural Design and Development (JAD) merupakan hasil penelitian yang memuat artikel ilmiah di bidang desain, arsitektur dan pengembangan wilayah, maupun kajian ilmiah dan konseptual paper yang memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan keilmuan dan implementasi praktis khususnya di bidang desain, arsitektur dan pengembangan wilayah. Penarapan konsep arsitektur simbolik dalam sebuah desain banguna bertujuan memberikan identitas pada bangunan tersebut. Hal itu juga dilakukan untuk memberikan informasi dan memudahkan bagi orang-orang untuk mengenali sebuah bangunan yang mereka lihat. Simbol dalam banguna dapat diekspresikan dengan bentuk lambang-lambang yang berhbunugan dengan sebuah fungsi dari bangunan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan yang artinya bahwa kualitatif merupakan penenlitian yang siaftnya mendeskrifsikan penelitian dari hasil data-data yang sudah terkumpul sehingga penelitian yang dilakukan dapat diproses dan dipertanggungjawabkan dengan berdasarkan data-data yang didapat pada saat pengumpulan data sekunder. Pada penelitian ini objek stdui kasus yaitu pada sebuah pondok pesantren modern yang di analaisis sesuai dengan teori tentang arsitektur simbolik.

Secara geografis Indonesia merupakan negara yang berada di wilayah garis khatulistiwa, tentunya menyebabkan Indonesia beriklim tropis. Keadaan ini cukup berpengaruh dalam kehidupan sehari- hari salah satunya dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar, kenyamanan thermal, visual serta akustik sangat diperlukan agar kegiatan tersebut berjalan dengan lancar. Maka dari itu penerapan arsitektur tropis pada bangunan pendidikan sangat diperlukan. Karakteristik bangunan tropis seperti orientasi massa bangunan, lahan terbuka hijau, material bangunan yang digunakan, secondary skin dan overstek yang tahan terhadap radiasi sinar matahari serta curah hujan yang lebat memberikan jawaban yang cukup tepat. Menara Phinisi yang berada di kampus Universitas Negeri Makassar merupakan objek yang akan diteliti secara kualitatif deskriptif yang diambil dari beberapa jurnal, buku serta literatur dari yang ada lalu di paraprase ulang, bagaimana konsep penerapannya serta bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa saja prinsip-prinsip arsitektur tropis pada bangunan pendidikan tersebut. Jadi hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa yang menjadi prinsip-prinsip arsitektur tropis adalah kenyamanan thermal, sirkulasi udara, penerangan alami pada siang hari dan pelindung dari radiasi sinar matahari dan hujan lebat yang terdapat pada studi kasus menara Phinisi.

Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki iklim tropis, namun akibat dari adanya penebangan pohon, pencemaran polusi, pencemaran limbah, dan lain-lain yang dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya pemanasan global. Penerapan konsep arsitektur hijau sangat berdampak untuk mengurangi akibat dari pemanasan global dan menciptakan udara yang sehat untuk para manusia yang ada dilingkungan sekitarnya. Arsitektur hijau merupakan konsep desain yang memanfaatkan energi, memenuhi kebutuhan pada pengguna, ramah lingkungan serta harus menyesuaikan iklim setempat. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Metode dengan cara ini yang melihat keadaan nyata pada kondisi situasi yang sebenarnya secara tidak langsung dan selanjutnya melakukan analisis yang di deskripsikan sehingga mendapatkan hasil dan kesimpulan. Arsitektur hijau yang dapat diterapkan pada penelitian ini yang menjadi studi kasus yaitu sebuah mall yang berada di Makassar yang bernama Nipah Mall menggunakan enam prinsip-prinsip yaitu hemat energi, memanfaatkan kondisi dan sumber energi alami, menanggapi keadaan tapak pada bangunan, memperhatikan pengguna bangunan, meminimalkan sumber daya baru, holistik.

Selubung bangunan adalah elemen bangunan yang menyelubungi bangunan , yaitu dinding dan atap tembus atau yang tidak tembus cahaya dimana sebagian besar energi thermal berpindah melalui elemen tersebut. Masjid adalah rumah tempat ibadah umat Islam atau Muslim. Masjid artinya tempat sujud, sebutan lain yang berkaitan dengan masjid di Indonesia adalah musala, langgar atau surau. Dalam mendesain masjid tidak hanya dilihat dari design interior maupun eksteriornya, Faktor kenyamanan juga penting dalam mendesain masjid, agar masyarakat sekitar maupun orang lain yang ingin beribadah ditempat tersebut merasa nyaman. Faktor kenyamanan tidak harus menggunakan AC sebagai penghawa suhu agar menjadi dingin atau lampu-lampu yang membuat terlihat terang dalam siang hari. Untuk menghasilkan faktor kenyamana dapat juga dilakukan dengan secara alami dengan pemanfaatan selubung bangunan pada masjid. Studi kasus pada penelitian ini ialah masjid At-Tin yang berlokasi di Jakarta Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan agar dapat memahami tentang arsitektur selubung, dapat memahami penerapan arsitektur selubung pada bangunan masjid dan dapat memahami elemen apa saja yang digunakan terkait arsitektur selubung pada bangunan masjid.

The rapid development of the times makes technology more sophisticated, it makes information and communication sources accepted quickly, because of the role of the internet. Its influence on society can have both good and bad impacts for the continuity of life patterns in social interaction. The bad impact that is often experienced by women is usually a feeling of insecurity in their appearance when interacting socially, this problem makes women have to try to find ways so that they can be confident by looking attractive according to their expectations. Therefore, we need a place of beauty center that applies the concept of feminism architecture with feminine characteristics. The case study that will be discussed in this research is Natasha Skin Care, which is located on Jl. Supratman No. 84 Bandung, while the method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study can be said that the Natasha Skin Care building is almost close to the application of the concept of feminist architecture according to several criteria, namely in the selection of materials on the facade, the color of the interior and exterior and a clear division of space between public and private spaces.

The mosque is an important public facility for the Muslim community with a function as a place of worship. The comfort of the mosque can affect humility in the process of worship. The bioclimatic architectural approach is a solution that maximizes the benefits of existing conditions through the application of bioclimatic architecture to mosque buildings, and to find out which mosque buildings have a direct influence on aspects of bioclimatic architecture. The purpose of this study is to find out how the application of bioclimatic architecture affects the shape of the Al-Warqa'a mosque. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods to determine the application of bioclimatic architectural concepts to mosque buildings so that in bioclimatic principles through the layout and shape of the building, the direction and condition of window shading, orientation and color on the walls, building ventilation, material selection. and site landscaping. This study uses secondary data collection methods with variables such as indoor temperature, air flow, and sunlight. Secondary data is a method for surveying data by collecting data from books, journals, archives, and literature from previous research related to the principles of bioclimatic architecture. The results obtained are from 9 bioclimatic principles, there are 2 principles that are not applied to the Al-Warqa'a mosque building, namely terraces and balconies. However, other principles can be applied using adjustments to each of these principles.

Batam City is very famous for its coastal settlement areas. One of them is Tanjung Riau. Tanjung Riau is the name of a sub-district located in Sekupang sub-district, Batam City, Riau Islands, Indonesia. The area of this kelurahan is 23.90 km², with a population in 2020 of 23,987 people and a density of 1,004 people / km². This old village is an area that is very useful as a visit destination if the systems and facilities are well managed.. Therefore, this research is based on the typology of buildings and population composition and the problems found will be sought so that they can provide solutions to problems in the research.

Pekanbaru City is the capital of Riau Province which has a majority of the population of Malay ethnicity. In maintaining its cultural characteristics, in the city of Pekanbaru there are many contemporary buildings that have the implementation of Malay characteristics on the facades of the buildings, which one is the object of this research, government offices in Tenayan Raya and Balai Payung Sekaki buildings, because the culture in an area is not only can be seen on thel Traditional House building, but other buildings must also be able to reflect regional characteristics such as a regional government office building which is one of the markers of an area. However, the application of Malay architecture must be done as well as possible so that there is no mistake because it can change the meaning contained in each characteristic feature of Malay architecture, meybe on roof components, ornaments or others. Misunderstanding or ignorance of a role in building also has a fatal impact on these formations. Although in plain view, these forms seem beautiful to feel, but philosophically and the meaning can be wrong. This research will be conducted with a descriptive approach to interpret an existing condition with a related theoretical basis to see the implementation of Malay architecture on the facades of contemporary buildings in Pekanbaru City. The entire implementation of Malay in buildings in the Tenayan Office area can be categorized as quite good in terms of authenticity because all the roofs and ornamental designs have the same motifs as the original motifs in traditional Malay buildings. The technique of applying ornament to the object of this research also varies, some are done by means of Stilation, Distortion or Repetition. However, he could not find any ornamental motifs that were applied using Decoration techniques.

Architecture is closely related to masculine traits due to the intervention of experts in the modern era. Existence became greatly reduced because of the feminism movement in architecture that had taken the attention of activists of architectural practice. Therefore, to bring back insights on the concept of masculine architecture, this research was conducted. In this study, qualitative descriptives were used as a method, as was the concept of masculine architecture that was not expected to be measured through quantitative data. In this method is very focused on the literature data due to the current conditions that can not make a direct visit to the site of the case study. The preferred case study is the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, Spain. In data collection of course refers to the principles of masculine architecture. These principles include natural impressions on elements, color selection, industrial-style ornaments, and the use of steel materials. Some of these principles are further identified in the architectural elements that are considered capable of displaying a masculine architectural impression on this Guggenheim museum building. The result of this identification proves that every principle of masculine architecture is able to be presented very well to the building elements of this Guggenheim museum. In addition, we also find about the implementation strategy that is considered optimal to bring the impression of masculine architecture to a museum building, while still presenting something innovative but still has its own characteristics.

At this time the world has experienced extraordinary developments, one of which is in the technological aspect. The technology is currently very sophisticated, including in architecture. This is a competition in completing the complete building facilities. In order to achieve an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building. Control systems and sensors in the form of technology can affect the building work system so that it can produce buildings that have advanced technology. The purpose of this research is to provide an insight into designing buildings with a smart building approach to produce buildings that are energy efficient, make it easier for building users, maintain building security, and are sustainable. The research method used is descriptive method. The object of this research was carried out in the building of educational facilities, namely Multimedia Nusantara University. Smart building is applied through several principles and consists of various aspects related to mechanical and electrical devices and security systems in buildings. All of these devices are controlled in a building automation system so that the building produces energy-efficient and environmentally friendly buildings. Smart buildings also have several architectural elements as elements that support the performance of the smart building system itself so that it can work optimally in realizing energy-efficient buildings.
