Abstract

This study explores the application of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) in addressing the fear of speaking Indonesian among two Indonesian diaspora junior high school students from Arab Indonesian multicultural families at Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah. The problem examined in this study is not merely related to linguistic ability, but rather to psychological factors, particularly feelings of shame and fear of being mocked, which are rooted in irrational beliefs about social evaluation. This study aims to describe the process and outcomes of REBT counseling in modifying students’ irrational beliefs, emotional responses, and speaking behaviors. A qualitative approach with a multiple case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation of counseling sessions, and documentation of counseling records. The counseling process was conducted through pre-intervention assessment, REBT-based intervention using the ABCDE model, and post-intervention evaluation. The findings indicate that REBT counseling facilitated meaningful changes in students’ cognitive and emotional patterns, marked by increased emotional awareness, a shift from reactive to reflective emotional responses, and the development of more adaptive beliefs toward speaking Indonesian. These cognitive and emotional changes were followed by behavioral improvements, as students gradually demonstrated greater confidence and willingness to communicate in Indonesian. The study concludes that REBT is an effective counseling approach for addressing language-related social anxiety in multicultural school settings and highlights its practical relevance for guidance and counseling services in Indonesian schools abroad.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the strengthening of psychosocial skills in the implementation of premarital guidance at the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of Cianjur District and its relevance in building family resilience. The psychosocial skills studied include effective communication, emotional management, empathy, couple cooperation, and joint decision-making as the foundation of a healthy marital relationship. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation of the implementation of premarital guidance, and analysis of supporting documents. The research results show that the premarital guidance program contributes to increasing the understanding and awareness of participants regarding the importance of psychosocial skills in domestic life, especially in the aspects of healthy communication and cooperation between couples. However, the effectiveness of strengthening these skills is still relatively limited. This is due to the dominance of the lecture method, the lack of direct practice and simulation, and the lack of a long-term guidance and follow-up mechanism after marriage. The positive impact produced is more seen in the cognitive and affective realms of the participants, while the mastery of practical skills and their contribution to sustainable family resilience is not optimal. Based on the findings, this study recommends the development of a premarital guidance model based on practice and experience, increasing the capacity of facilitators in psychosocial approaches, and the implementation of longitudinal evaluations to assess the long-term impact of the program on family resilience. Thus, premarital guidance is expected not only to be informative, but also to be a strategic means in building a harmonious, adaptive, and resilient family.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of Imposter Syndrome (IS)—internal feelings of unworthiness for achievement despite having external evidence of success—on academic procrastination among outstanding students. Students who experience IS often show a tendency to procrastinate on assignments, which has the potential to hinder their academic potential. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the interrelation between self-doubt, perceived academic pressure, and the role of the psychological recovery process through spiritual approaches (for example, worship practices) in moderating these relationships. This qualitative research uses in-depth interviews and participatory observation for two weeks. The study sample consisted of outstanding students who were identified as experiencing symptoms of IS and procrastination. Data was collected to thoroughly explore emotional dynamics, manifestations of procrastinative behavior, and the role of worship practices in helping students overcome anxiety and pressure. Research results show that feeling inappropriate for success (IS) significantly triggers procrastination, increased anxiety, and emotional fatigue (burnout). Furthermore, the practice of worship was found to have a calming effect, strengthening self-acceptance, and increasing the mental resilience of students. These findings underline the therapeutic and supportive value of the spiritual approach in dealing with academic pressure.

Abstract

This research aims to formulate, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated Art Therapy service model within the framework of Islamic Counseling to reduce students' academic anxiety at SMA Plus Al-Aqsha. The phenomenon of academic anxiety is identified not only as a clinical disorder, but as a form of spiritual shak (al-qalaq al-ruhi) which is rooted in the deficit of tawakal and the loss of inner peace (sakinah). Using a qualitative approach of a descriptive case study type, this study involves students who have high levels of anxiety and resistance to conventional verbal communication. Data was collected through participant observation, artwork documentation, and post-creation reflection in-depth interviews, which were then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The research results show that operational procedures that include the stage of initiation (purification of intention), externalization (expressive painting), and transformation (internalization of the values of patience, gratitude, and husnuzan) are effective in reducing anxiety scores significantly. Painting media serves as a non-verbal cathartic instrument that is able to break down the psychological resistance of adolescents, while the integration of tawhid values provides a more permanent transcendental resolution than a secular approach. The synergy between emotional regulation through artistic expression and faith strengthening is proven to be able to transform the narrative of anxiety into stable spiritual calmness. This study concludes that the Art Therapy service based on Islamic Counseling is an innovative and contextual solution for counseling guidance practitioners in improving the mental health and quality of life of students in the Islamic education environment.
