Abstract

Complete regeneration of the periodontium is the aim of any successful periodontal treatment. RecentTechnologies have come up with many advances like cell-based therapy, peptides, genetic transfer, scaffolds, bone anabolics, and above all lasers. Four basic elements are required for periodontal repair andregeneration that includes adequate blood supply and wound stability, a source of bone and ligament formingcells, a supporting scaffold, and growth factors to regulate cell migration, synthesis and angiogenesis forrevascularization of the site. The newer technologies not only offer unique opportunities but also enhancethe predictability of regenerative procedures.

Abstract

Traumatic injuries during early childhood interfere with root development leading to the formation of atooth with an open apex. Apexification is considered as the best choice for the treatment of such cases. UseMineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as apical plug material optimizes the treatment outcome. Other thanMTA different techniques are also used to restore the function and stability of the immature permanenttooth. In this case report 3 different techniques are used to treat the open apex. In the first case, MTA apicalplug along with backfill was done. Complete canal obturation with MTA and custom cone technique wereperformed for the second and third cases respectively.

Abstract

It is not possible to reach into the final diagnosis by only noting the patient history and clinical examination.Appropriate diagnostic aids are mandatory to co-relate the history with the clinical findings to reach into acorrect final diagnosis. It is seen mostly the diagnosis of endo-perio lesion becomes difficult and complicated, unless the clinician possesses sound knowledge regarding the basic diagnostic procedures. Or else, there is afair chance to miss the findings, small though relevant which would lead to an inaccurate diagnosis. Hence, this review topic is taken to help the practitioners with simple basic procedures to make the diagnosis of theendo-perio lesion made easy.

In-depth knowledgeof sterilization protocol in every step to clean the instrument is the key to infection control. Sterilizationrefers to the process in which complete removal microorganisms and spores from the surface treated. Thewidely used method is heat-based sterilization by autoclave. Till the invention of autoclave, dry heat methodwas used for sterilization in all areas of dentistry. This review article describes the various method used inendodontics for sterilization.
