Abstract

Interreligious dialogue (IRD) is a crucial pillar in fostering tolerance and social harmony educational environments. This research is motivated by the importance of students’ understanding of IRD as presented in religious education curricula. The research problem addressed is how students perceive the IRD material and to what extent they apply it in their daily lives. The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of 12th-grade students toward IRD material and to measure the extent to which dialogical attitudes are practiced in their interactions. A quantitative survey method was employed by distributing questionnaires at a senior high school. The findings reveal that the majority of respondents have a positive perception of IRD and reported having received the material through classroom instruction. The data also indicates that students not only understand the concept theoretically but also apply it in their everyday lives. This is evidenced through the stages of behavior change approach, which shows that most students are in the action and maintenance stages in implementing dialogical attitudes both in school and outside. This study contributes to strengthening the role of schools in instilling religious tolerance values and demonstrates the effectiveness of IRD education.

Abstract

This study develops a model of religious character education for students of Islamic Religious Education Universitas Islam Darul Ulum Lamongan. Using a grounded theory approach, this model was constructed through qualitative data analysis from 50 students in semesters 4 and 6. Data was collected through an open survey and analyzed by open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results identified eight key elements in the Tarbiyah model: Example, Worship Activities, Self-Reflection, Social Development, Value Integration, Belief & Love of Kindness, Real Action, and Habituation. The example of lecturers, campus religious activities, and self-reflection are the main supporting factors in the formation of religious character. The influence of social media and promiscuity is a major challenge. The TARBIYAH model is relevant to foster the religious character of Generation Z students who are multitasking but prone to disorientation of values.

Abstract

This study develops valid, practical, and potentially effective Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions using Kahoot media for Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAI and BP). The research employed Design Research with a development study approach, consisting of two stages: preliminary (analysis and design) and prototyping (expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field test). Data were collected through documentation, walkthroughs, questionnaires, and tests. The study produced 20 multiple-choice HOTS questions validated in terms of content, construct, and language by expert validators. Item validity was confirmed through SPSS analysis, showing r_count > r_table (0.361). Practicality was demonstrated through small group trials with a score of 4.04, categorized as practical. Potential effectiveness was evidenced by field test results with an average student score of 72.55, categorized as good. The Kahoot-based HOTS questions successfully engaged students in interactive learning while developing analytical and evaluative thinking skills aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum learning outcomes for Shu'abul Iman material.

Abstract

This study examines pedagogical challenges in teaching Ulūmul Qur’ān in the Islamic Education Management Program at STAI Idrisiyyah, particularly low engagement and shallow understanding resulting from lecture-based instruction. It investigates the implementation of a collaborative discovery learning–discussion model and its impact on cognitive outcomes and intrinsic motivation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observation of 12 learning sessions, and document analysis. The findings indicate a 45% improvement in students’ analytical skills on topics such as nasikh-mansukh and makki-madani, alongside a 40% increase in classroom participation. The model encourages epistemic agency through guided inquiry, discussion, and double-loop learning, integrating tadabbur and mudzākara. This hybrid approach contributes to Islamic pedagogy by strengthening analytical competence and collaborative learning in Qur’anic higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) for children with special needs at a public special junior high school in Sorong City. It employs a qualitative descriptive method using observation, interviews, and documentation involving the school principal, two teachers, one parent, and three students with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairments, and autism. The findings indicate that IRE is not taught by specialized IRE teachers but instead by classroom teachers through an internal rotation system, often without formal training in Islamic education or special needs pedagogy. The curriculum is simplified and thematic and does not fully align with the official syllabus. Teaching methods are still dominated by lectures and storytelling without adaptive media. In fact, students respond more positively to visual, practical, and audiovisual learning approaches. The study concludes that IRE instruction has not yet been inclusive and highlights the importance of trained teachers and the development of adaptive teaching materials.

Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that teachers had attempted to create interactive learning through the use of teaching modules, two-way discussions, the use of media such as PowerPoint and infocus, and strengthening understanding through mind mapping and projects. These findings emphasize the importance of the role and innovation of teachers in improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

Gadget distraction has become a serious challenge in Fiqh learning as it affects students’ focus, motivation, and participation. This study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies in overcoming learning obstacles caused by gadget use and to formulate solutions for improving the quality of Fiqh instruction. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach involving Fiqh teachers and several students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using a thematic descriptive approach. The findings indicate that teachers face challenges such as varying levels of student concentration, limited time to balance theoretical and practical learning, and the influence of social media. To address these issues, teachers implemented a no-gadget policy, developed more interactive teaching methods, and strengthened collaboration with parents. These strategies create a more conducive and effective learning environment.

Abstract

This article examines the development of students’ emotional and spiritual intelligence through leadership education at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The pesantren implements a comprehensive educational approach that actively involves students in the learning process. Leadership education is carried out through the rayon management organization, entrusted to fifth-grade KMI students equivalent to eleventh-grade senior high school students. As rayon administrators, students assume continuous leadership responsibilities within a dynamic dormitory environment governed by a distinctive disciplinary system. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the study finds that direct leadership experience enhances emotional intelligence, including emotional regulation, empathy, communication, and conflict resolution. Spiritual intelligence also develops through routine religious practices and the internalization of Islamic values, strengthening students’ emotional–spiritual balance and leadership character.

Emotional strategies include creating a positive learning environment, being sensitive to students’ needs, appreciating their feelings, and respecting their perspectives. Instructional strategies involve the use of interactive learning media, motivational feedback, and simple, communicative language suited to students’ understanding. Overall, the study highlights the essential role of teachers as role models in fostering polite behavior through emotional engagement and effective communication.

Abstract

This study addresses the ongoing moral crisis by examining the implementation of a Love-Based Curriculum in Islamic education as a form of value-based learning. Madrasahs are encouraged to innovate instructional practices to foster students’ spiritual and social development through five core values: love for God and the Prophet, love for knowledge, love for oneself and others, love for the environment, and love for the homeland. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study applies the Living Value Assessment (LVA) as both a reflective and pedagogical instrument within Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning at Madrasah Aliyah Al Falah. LVA complements Value-Based Education (VBE) by assessing the internalization of values, while VBE provides the educational framework that supports value growth. Data were collected from reflective journals of four students in Grades X and XI. The findings show that LVA effectively identifies the five dimensions of love embedded in the Love-Based Curriculum and can be used by teachers to evaluate value integration in SKI learning.
