Abstract

Purpose: This paper aims to investigate the relationship between education and teenage pregnancy, and its grave consequences on vulnerable teenagers. Methodology: A systematic random sampling method was used to select a sample of two hundred young teenagers from the eight villages that make up the Ihuokpara community. Frequency tables and pie charts were used for the analysis and interpretation of data, while chi-square (x2) was used in testing the hypothesis. Results: The findings revealed that teenage pregnancies occur as a result of a lack of education (Ignorance) about sexuality and other reproductive health-related issues. However, the findings also revealed that there is a water-tight relationship existing between education and the tide of teen pregnancy so that the rate of awareness of sexuality determines the rate of teenage pregnancy. Limitations: This study only examines some factors such as the low level of education (ignorance) about sexuality, human reproduction, sexual health, and other reproductive health-related issues that may cause teenage pregnancy in Ihuokpara. The future researcher may find other factors that are not included in this study. Contribution: This study hopefully can give some things that are important for the individual, family, and communities to lend their support to others in their articulated efforts toward the teenage pregnancy cases.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between virtual education and mobile learning on students' academic self-handicapping during the outbreak of COVID19. Research Methodology: The present study is a descriptive study of correlation type. The statistical population includes all primary school students in Zabol city. Using Cochran's formula and Morgan’s table and cluster random sampling method, 277 people were selected as the research sample. Data were collected using the Jones & Rudwalt (1982) Academic Self-handicapping Scale Questionnaire, Mobile Learning Ability Questionnaire, and Virtual Learning Questionnaire. Results: The results of statistical analysis indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between students’ academic disability and virtual education. The intensity of this relationship is very strong and virtual education has the power to predict academic self-handicapping(P?0.05). Besides that, there is no significant relationship between students’ academic disability and mobile learning. Conclusion: Therefore, we conclude that students who are more prone to academic disability are less likely to participate in the classroom. Limitations: One of the most important limitations of the present study is that due to the timing of the conference, researchers did not have enough time to conduct follow-up tests to sustain the impact of brain teasers.

Abstract

Purpose: This study assesses Nigerian academic communities’ (NAC) knowledge, perception, and practices regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Research Methodology: Online snowball sampling technique with 5-point Likert scale online questionnaire was used to assess NAC knowledge, perception, and practices amidst coronavirus pandemic. About 368 participants comprised of academic and non-academic staff from north central geopolitical zone of Nigeria participated in the study. Responses were analysed using the SPSS. Result: NAC gathered, shared, and updated their knowledge about COVID-19 mostly through social media. Participants professed social media as the most effective platform for education and updates on COVID-19 compared to the conventional media and government sources. Despite that, participants were discovered to have slight issues in differentiating real news from fake ones. The participants reasonably practised precautionary measures as directed by the government and centre for disease control. Limitations: This study is limited to academic environment while COVID-19 affects all sundries and sectors of the economy respectively. Contribution: This study contributes to the knowledge and insight of COVID-19 among NAC and suggests means of managing the virus to avoid further spread.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between school culture and academic enthusiasm with academic hope and motivation in high school students. Research methodology: The present study is applied in terms of purpose and is among the descriptive studies of correlation type. The statistical population includes all high school students in Zahak city, whose number in the academic year 2021-2022 is 1324 people.Using Morgan table and Cochran's formula, 297 students were selected by statistical random sampling as a statistical sample. To prevent statistical sample loss and better adequacy, a sample of 320 questionnaires was distributed by multi-stage random cluster sampling method. Results: The results of the analysis showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between academic motivation and students' academic enthusiasm. The intensity of this relationship is very strong and academic motivation has the power to predict academic enthusiasm. There is no significant relationship between school culture and academic motivation and school culture does not have the power to predict academic motivation. Limitations: What should be considered by school parents is to pay attention to creating a correct and flexible culture in school, because each student spends more than half of his time in school and is exposed to school relationships and culture, and these relationships over time. Contribution: Among the limitations of the research are the lack of sufficient scientific content around the research variables, the lack of cooperation of some schools in the implementation of the questionnaire and the limitation in the generalizability of the results of this research.

Abstract

Purpose:  The purpose of this study was to discover the primary changes that the higher education systems–especially at the department level–brought in their teaching systems as a result of COVID-19. Considering COVID-19, this study also explored the challenges and opportunities EFL learners experienced in their learning contexts. Research Methodology: A qualitative research design was employed in the present study where semi-structured interviews were used to collect data from the study population who were 3 teachers and 7 students sampled through the purposive sampling technique from the English Department at Badghis Institute of Higher Education in Badghis, Afghanistan. The collected data from the participants were transcribed and read several times and the emerged codes and themes were analyzed accordingly.  Results: The findings of this study indicated that there were some major changes in the teaching instructions where the learners faced some barriers when trying to adapt themselves to new changes. On the other hand, the paper revealed some opportunities EFL learners experienced in dealing with the changes in the teaching and learning system.  Limitations: The limited sample size and the non-random selection method could be listed as limitations of this study. Contributions: The current paper provides the readers with suggestive approaches and opportunities university teachers and students could consider during any future pandemic.

Research methodology: This study utilized the descriptive-predictive method. It was conducted in Sto. Tomas National High School has 58 respondents. Results: There is a positive significant relationship between attitude in Mathematics, reflective thinking skills, and performance in Mathematics. However, it was revealed that there is a negative not significant relationship between problem-solving skills and performance in Mathematics. Furthermore, it was discovered that attitude in Mathematics significantly predicts performance in Mathematics. Limitations: The study is quantitative non-experimental research. The respondents are only those students who specialized in science, mathematics, and engineering. Contribution: The model that predicts the performance in Mathematics can be considered by mathematics teachers in improving the performance of STE students in Mathematics.
