Abstract

Beef is one of the most nutritious foods that fulfill people's protein needs after chicken and milkfish. Cirebon Regency has many migrants, both workers and students, so the demand for beef is high. This study aims to determine the characteristics of beef consumers and analyze the factors that influence beef demand. The research was conducted by purposive sampling used to select research locations in Pabuaran Kidul Market and Ciledug Market with a sample size of 100 respondents. The lemeshow formula was used as a sample for respondents. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis method and multiple linear regression with the help of IBM SPSS 26. Normality test, heteroscedasticity test, multicollinearity test, and autocorrelation test are used for classical assumption testing, while F test and t test are used for hypothesis testing. The results of the study of factors that significantly affect beef demand are income with a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05, the number of family members with a sig value of 0.003 < 0.05 and the price of beef with a sig value. 0.006 < 0.05, consumer age with sig value 0.012 < 0.05. Broiler price, milkfish price, and education level did not significantly affect beef demand. The price elasticity of beef shows that the demand for meat is elastic, the cross-elasticity of broiler chicken and milkfish shows that beef is a substitute good, the income elasticity shows that beef is a normal good.

Abstract

The suweg tuber (Amorphophallus companulatus) is a potential feed ingredient found in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. However, suweg tuber (AC) contains anti-nutritional compounds such as oxalic acid, requiring pre-treatment before being fed to chickens. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of AC flour on slaughter weight, carcass weight, non-carcass weight, and abdominal fat accumulation. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, each replicated five times, totaling 20 experimental units. Each unit consisted of five broiler chickens, resulting in a total of 100 chickens. The treatments included AC00 (control, without AC), AC05 (5% AC), AC10 (10% AC), and AC15 (15% AC). The results of this study revealed that the inclusion of AC flour up to 15% could increase slaughter weight and carcass weight while reducing abdominal fat

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of age on the fresh semen quality of Crossbred Boer Goats at young (8–12 months) and adult (13–16 months) ages. This case study was conducted in July 2024 at Kahfi Farm, located in Fajar Baru Village, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, involving three goats in each age group. The age determination of the goats was based on the replacement of their incisors. Fresh semen collection was performed using artificial vagina specifically designed for goats, in the morning, every four days, with a total of four repetitions. The observed variables included: (1) macroscopic semen quality, comprising color, odor, pH, consistency, and semen volume; and (2) microscopic semen quality, including mass movement and individual sperm motility. Data for each parameter were presented in tables as means and standard deviations (mean±SD) and analyzed quantitatively and descriptively by comparing the data for each variable between the young and adult age groups. The conclusion of this study was the fresh semen quality of Crossbred Boer goats in the adult age group (13–16 months) showed better values compared to the young age group (8–12 months), but the fresh semen from both age groups did not meet the requirements for frozen semen production to be used in artificial insemination
