Abstract

Broiler are chickens that are genetically developed to achieve high body weight gain quickly. Rapid growth requires feed that has the right nutritional content to meet and support broiler chickens. This research aims to evaluate supplements from soursop leaf extract and mangosteen peel extract in broiler activity. This study used Complete Randomized Design (CRD) 5x4, namely 5 types of treatment and 4 replications. P0 = without the addition of soursop leaf extract and mangosteen peel extract; P1 = addition of 2 mg/KgBW soursop leaf extract + 2 mg/KgBW mangosteen peel extract; P2 = addition of 4 mg/KgBW soursop leaf extract + 4 mg/KgBW mangosteen peel extract; P3 = Addition of 6 mg/KgBW soursop leaf extract + 6 mg/KgBW mangosteen peel; P4= Addition of 8 mg/KgBW soursop leaf extract + 4 mg/KgBW mangosteen peel. The observed variables included consumption of broiler, body weight gain, feed consumption ratio, and mortality. The results showed that the addition of mangosteen peel extract and soursop leaf extract at a level of 2 mg/KgBW was able to increase body weight gain and reduce feed conversion

Abstract

This study aims to estimate and validate the accuracy of estimated Total Digestible Nutrient (TDN) content in forages based on the chemical composition of feed. Data on nutrient composition for estimates were obtained from the BR-CORTE database consisting of 86 types of forages and primary data from observations consisting of 19 types of forages. Analysis data is used Pearson correlation, multiple linear regression, determination coefficient (R2), and root mean square error (RMSE) for estimation models, variance test (ANOVA), and T-test for validation. The results showed that forage TDN had a negative correlation with Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF) (P <0.01) and lignin (P <0.05), but was positively correlated with Non-Fibre Carbohydrate (NFC) (P <0.01), Ether Extract (EE) and Crude Protein (CP) (P<0.01). Thus, the TDN value can be estimated from the chemical composition in the feed. The regression equation that will be used to estimate forage TDN content is TDN = 0.482 NDF + 1.538 EE + 0.699 NFC + 0.718 CP (R2=0.994). Then, this equation is validated and compared to the Hartadi’s and Wardeh’s equations. The results of the T-test showed that the TDN value estimated is non significantly different with TDN Hartadi for cattle (P>0.05). It concluded TDN value of local forage can be estimated based on this estimation models.

Abstract

Feed is a very important success factor in quail farming. Appropriate feeding can increase the production of quail eggs which are useful for meeting the protein consumption of today's society. Many researchers have tested the use of ratios combined with various kinds of existing organic waste. It aims to find alternative ratios that are useful to reduce the cost of expensive feeds but still produce quail that is productive in terms of laying eggs. This researcher aims to find alternative food in the ratio in the form of organic waste that is useful for increasing the production of quail eggs. This research article uses searches with certain keywords in the last 10 years. The results obtained from 8 articles related to the addition of organic waste in feeds to increase the production of quail eggs. The results of the literature review showed that from 8 articles showed that there was no effect of adding organic waste in the feed to increase quail egg production. Recommendations from the literature review can be used as a reference for future research to find other alternatives in feed to increase quail egg production.

Abstract

This study aims to find an estimator of body weight by means of shank length and shank circumference in adult Kampung chickens reared traditionally. A total of 173 adult Kampung chickens (79 males and 94 females), aged 1 year belonging to several breeders in Prafi District, Manokwari Regency, were used as material for this study. Best Subsets Regression analysis was used to find the best body weight estimation model for this research chicken. The results showed that shank length (PSJ) was the best estimator of body weight (BBJ) for adult male Kampung chickens through the formula: BBJ = 0.363 PSJ – 1.67, because it had the best accuracy rate (highest R2 and lowest C-p and s) compared to the formula others available. For adult female Kampung chickens, shank length (PSB) and shank circumference (LSB) are the best estimators of body weight (BBB) for adult female Kampung chickens using the formula: BBB = 0.205 PSB + 0.127 LSB - 0.864, because it has the best level of accuracy (R2 highest and C-p and lowest s) compared to other available formulas. These formulas are very well applied to Kampung chicken farms that are kept traditionally in an area in order to choose good male candidates and prospective brooders for that area.

Abstract

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of cassava meal fermented to productivity of broiler chickens. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, each redication was filled with 3 chicks so that the number of chicks in this study was 60 chicks. The variables observed were initial weight, ration consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, final body weight, morbidity and mortality. The treatments were P0 (research ration with 5% cassava meal), P1 (research ration with 3% cassava meal fermented), P2 (research ration with 6% cassava meal fermented), P3 (research ration with 9% cassava meal fermented). The results showed a significant difference from these facts, but not significantly different on body weight gain, ration conversion and final body weight. The average initial weight was 45.55 grams/birds, the morbidity rate were 2 chicks the mortality rate was also 0.17%. Giving cassava meal fermented up to 9% can be consumed by broiler chickens without reducing productivity.

Abstract

Increasing people's welfare is in line with increasing consumption of broiler meat as a source of animal protein. Improving a person's quality of life has implications for a selective attitude in choosing the quality and quantity of food consumed. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the consumption of purebred chicken in Teluk Ambon District. The research location was determined purposively, namely deliberately in the market located in Teluk Ambon District, namely Pasar Rumah Tiga and Pasar Wayame. The basis for location considerations is that the people around the market have varied occupational professions and have heterogeneous levels of education. The research sample was drawn using the accidental sampling method, namely taking samples of respondents who are consumers who happen to shop for chicken meat. Respondents were taken as many as 60 people. To analyze the factors that influence the amount of consumption of chicken meat analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis method. The research results show that the price of chicken meat, the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, the level of education, dependants, tastes, and income together have a significant influence on the amount of consumption of chicken meat. Partially, the variable price of chicken meat, the number of family dependents, income tastes have a significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption, while the price of chicken eggs, the price of fish, and the level of education have no significant effect on the amount of chicken meat consumption.
