Abstract

This study aims to test and analyze the influence of the oral history interview project on students' historical awareness and historical empathy. Theoretically, this study is based on Lev Vygotsky's constructivism theory which states that knowledge is constructed by individuals through interactions in their socio-cultural environment. To achieve this goal, this study uses a quantitative method with an ex post facto type. The population and sample of this study were all 127 students of the History Education study program at Surabaya State University who were selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire instrument. The results of the data analysis indicate that there is an influence of the oral history interview project on students' historical awareness and historical empathy based on a sig value <0.05. The magnitude of this influence is indicated by the R Square value of 0.51 and 0.55 which when converted into percentage form is 51% and 55%.

Abstract

This environmental history research aims to analyze the spatial and demographic evolution of Solear District, Tangerang Regency, in response to the development initiative of the Tigaraksa KRL Station. The periodization covered is between 1993, marking the designation of Tigaraksa as the administrative center, and 2013, when the electrification and operation of the KRL at the station began. Specifically, this study examines how the construction of double tracks and railway electrification (intensively started since 2008) served as the main trigger for environmental changes in the Solear area. The findings indicate that the KRL infrastructure created a partial Transit Oriented Development (TOD) effect that was unplanned. The most significant change is seen in the accelerated land use conversion, where the dominant rice fields and vacant land in Solear in 1993 transformed into dense residential and commercial areas by 2013. The accessibility guaranteed by the KRL attracted urbanization flows and property investment, drastically increasing land economic value and changing Solear's landscape from an agricultural support area into an urban buffer zone dependent on Jakarta connectivity. The conclusion shows that transportation infrastructure, even at the development stage, has a rapid and profound impact on the environmental and spatial evolution of Solear.

Abstract

The existence of the Tuk Budoyo spring in Losari Village, Temanggung Regency, preserves mythological narratives that serve as the foundation of identity and social order for the local community. This research focuses on the historical background of the Tuk Budoyo tradition and its functional relevance amidst modernization. The study aims to describe the origins and development of the tradition while analyzing the functions of the myth as a mechanism for social control, cultural legitimacy, and local wisdom-based education. A qualitative method with descriptive and folkloristic approaches was employed, utilizing data from in-depth interviews with the juru kunci (custodian), village elders, community leaders, and local residents, supported by field documentation. Data analysis was conducted interactively through data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification based on the theory of folklore functions. Results indicate that the Tuk Budoyo myth possesses two variations of historical narratives reflecting cultural acculturation. The myth functions as a spiritual center, a means of legitimizing traditional arts, a tool for regulating social norms through customary rules, and a medium for environmental conservation. This study concludes that the Tuk Budoyo myth is not merely folklore but a life guide instilling moral values, environmental ethics, and humility, remaining relevant in maintaining the balance between humans, nature, and God. Therefore, this folklore has the potential to be integrated as local content teaching material in schools.

Abstract

The Bersih Dhusun Gobed tradition is often perceived by some members of the community as a form of shirk due to the presence of ujub, which is assumed to contain mystical elements. This perception arises from a limited understanding, as people generally only hear the recitation of ujub without fully comprehending its linguistic structure, content, and deeper meaning. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the words, phrases, sentences, and discourse of ujub in the Bersih Dhusun Gobed tradition in order to reveal its meaning and function within the ritual context. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an objective approach, focusing on the textual analysis of ujub as a form of oral literature. The findings show that ujub represents an oral literary form of Javanese poetry characterized by poetic elements such as purwakanthi guru swara, purwakanthi guru sastra, and the use of syntactic repetition. In addition, ujub contains prayers and supplications addressed to Gusti Allah, symbolically conveyed through offerings and expressions of respect toward ancestors. Thus, the ujub mantra can be understood as a form of modern Javanese poetic expression that functions as a medium of prayer and cultural articulation.
