Abstract

Advances in information technology have had a great impact on libraries. Not only in terms of the progress of information systems but also a pattern of communication and information delivery. Instagram is one of the most popular social media for millennials. This is what makes the UIN Sunan Kalijaga library actively use Instagram as a more effective medium for conveying information. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of social media Instagram in increasing interest in visiting the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta library. The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative approach to explain the role of social media Instagram in increasing the interest of visiting users by analyzing posts on Instagram. The results show that the Instagram social media of the UIN Sunan Kalijaga library has several roles and objectives, namely 1) to inform, 2) to persuade, 3) to influence, 4) to educate, and 5) to entertain. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that social media Instagram provides many roles for libraries to encourage interest in visiting users and utilizing library services.

Abstract

The need for information in the digital era is increasing because information is easier to access anytime and anywhere. Efforts that must be applied in order to obtain quality information and as needed, namely by having information literacy skills. Information literacy is the ability to respond and meet information needs. By understanding information literacy, it is expected that the public can receive precise and accurate information. The purpose of this study is to discuss the skills and methods of searching for information needed by each individual. This research uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach supported by literature review in accordance with the topic of this article, namely from books and scientific articles. The result of the discussion of this article is that there is some information on literacy skills models that can be utilized by individuals, as discussed in this article is the Big 6 model which is often used in research, employment, education and others. While the information search technique that can be used easily is the Boolean method.

Abstract

Each study has different characteristics, so the stages and processes involved in conducting library research may vary depending on the objectives and research problems. So this paper aims to provide an overview as a basic guideline that can be used in conducting library research in the field of education in conducting further research. Library research is a research method that uses sources found in libraries, such as books, journals, articles, and other documents, to collect data and information needed in a study. This literature research is usually done as a first step in research and can be used to determine the background, understand the context, and find ideas for further research. The main strategies and components in using literature research with tips that can help in carrying out effective and efficient literature research are First, clearly identify the problem and research objectives. Second, search for relevant and trusted resources such as books, journals, articles, etc. Third, Analysis, evaluation, and selection of found resources to determine their validity and feasibility, Fourth, Organization and records of research results to facilitate the integration of information and Fifth, Integration of research results and preparation of systematic and logical reports.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to find out what forms of static displays (information pointers) are provided by the Bina Darma University Library which are then studied in terms of ergonomics based on the value of comfort, beauty, and usefulness. The type of research used descriptive qualitative research. Determination of informants is determined based on non-probability techniques, namely by using purposive sampling. The informants selected were one person in the library staff, namely the librarian. The data collection technique through interviews which are then processed so that they can find conclusions/verification results. The results obtained are static displays in the Bina Darma University Library, namely Warning Displays, working hours, library labels, instructions for using turnitin, instructions on collections, suggestion box labels, and instructions for opening doors. The static display in the Bina Darma University library is still minimal. This is due to the lack of information related to library rules, organizational structures and so on, making users confused and preferring to ask the librarian

Abstract

This article aims to describe the children's spatial design which includes: the placement of shelves, colors, furniture, lighting, and room area in the children's service room at the library service, and the archives of the city of Padang Panjang. A library must pay attention to the interior design of the library because this can support the literacy skills of users, one of which is children. Library interior design is a way of arranging the interior layout of a library building, which functions as a container for all activities and activities in the library by creating a comfortable and safe atmosphere and image of the space by paying attention to the needs of the individuals in it without neglecting aesthetic factors. Where the design will be by the expectations of users and librarians to improve children's literacy. Literacy can be interpreted as the ability to read, write, speak, and solve. To make children feel comfortable in the library room, a librarian must pay attention to the spatial design where this spatial design makes children feel comfortable and safe. Which is when children feel comfortable and safe, they can automatically increase literacy activities

Abstract

The Technology Discourse Library is a library managed by SMKN 1 Majalengka. The library has a significant development since 2020, yet this development has not done simultaneously with a proper media for sharing information, this causing the libary to be less well known by school users. Therefore, the school need a media that could be used for sharing information to help the library to be less unknown. The research method use in this paper is Action Research model by Burns with five steps on the first cycle and four steps on the continuation cycle. The data in this paper retrieved through interview, observation, and documentation. This research went through two cycles with result in the form of an Instagram account with @perpus.stemanika as username and managed by Technology Discourse Library SMKN 1 Majalengka’s staff. This Instagram account can be used as media for sharing information by Technology Discourse Library SMKN 1 Majalengka

Abstract

This research explains the development of a model for empowering coastal communities based on their professions using a socially inclusive library approach. The case study was conducted in Banten Lama, Kota Serang, Banten Province. The objective of this research is to find an appropriate model for empowering the community, tailored to the existing professions in coastal communities. The socially inclusive library approach is employed as a means to empower the community and improve their well-being. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research, focusing on the functions and roles of libraries in increasing community engagement in terms of well-being. The findings of this research present a model for empowering coastal communities based on their respective professions. In the smallest context, the library is represented by a community reading park, which serves as an agent of change in the coastal community. The conclusion in this study is that the social inclusion-based library model is adapted to community professions adapted to the support of collaboration between regional libraries, village libraries and community reading library. In addition, this community empowerment model is described in three models according to the profession, namely the community empowerment model for the fisherman profession, the trade profession and the tour guide profession

Abstract

This study aims to determine the productivity of lecturers at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University in a span of 10 years (2012–2021). The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The results of this study proved that from 54 lecturers, 40 lecturers were found to have lecturer profile accounts on the Google Scholar website with a total publication of 940 journal articles. Lecturer productivity based on Lotka's Law gets an exponent value (n) 0.0050 with a value (C) 0.0350. This shows that the percentage of lecturers who contribute 2 articles to the lecturer profile on google scholar is on the observation results of 5%, while in the calculation of Lotka's theoretical value is 3.59%. After conducting the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, it was found that Dmax was greater than the critical value (0.8834 > 0.2150). Based on these results, it was found that there was a significant difference between the theoretical value of Lotka Law and the results of observations in journals indexed by google scholar in the FISIP lecturer profile for 2012–2021.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the perceptions of master students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra in terms of knowledge and experience in utilizing the Cambridge journal database. The research method used was qualitative with the informant selection technique using snowball sampling and five informants were obtained who knew and had accessed the Cambridge database. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results showed that the majority of informants did not know that the UINSU Library had subscribed to the Cambridge journal database service. Most students know about the database of Cambridge journals obtained from outsiders when they were undergraduate students so that it has an impact on usage statistics with 104 downloads per year. This is caused by promotions related to journal services that are not carried out evenly throughout the academic community due to the difference in location between the library and the postgraduate campus. There are several factors inhibiting students from not using the Cambridge journal database such as access to closed articles which causes students not to use the campus network to open access automatically or not to use accounts and passwords provided to log in outside the campus network.

Abstract

The Al-Jihad Mosque library is the focus of this research. Management in this case places more emphasis on increasing children's literacy in the Rejang Lebong area, constraints and efforts to increase the effectiveness of handling literacy problems in children in the Rejang Lebong area. This research uses qualitative techniques, for data collection data, including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The process of data analysis begins with data reduction, followed by polling, presentation, and drawing conclusions. By using technical triangulation and source triangulation, data validation was carried out. This study reveals that the Al-Jihad Mosque library is a source of information as well as a facilitator, mediator, and motivator as well as a non-formal educational institution. There are several limitations that become obstacles in efforts to increase literacy for children in Rejang Lebong district, including the lack of facilities, human resources, and the attention and interest of the local community. The solutions offered in reducing these obstacles include management improvements, then human resources, then infrastructure facilities, as well as the costs needed for the continuity of mosque library activities.
