Abstract

Bumi Manusia is a controversial and interesting novel, Pramoedya Ananta Toer as the author was accused of being involved with communists. Bumi Manusia was banned from circulation but then gained a crowded place among readers and has been translated in approximately 36 languages, its ideas and messages will ultimately contribute to the color of the reading public, how to think, behave and exist. This study is a discourse analysis model that aims to describe human existence in Bumi Manusia with the hermeneutic objective method as an analytical approach. The final result can be concluded that humans who exist in Bumi Manusia are none other than those who are armed with knowledge and independence are able to struggle out of various difficulties faced, are able to stand on their own feet, and do not become criminals running away from responsibility. The concept of humanity in Bumi Manusia is rooted in the factual social conditions of the little people and the oppressed. Humans who exist in Bumi Mansusia do not envision perfect humans, or ideal humans who aspire to be, successful winners with achievements based on the ideals of perfect humans who are overwhelmed by perfection, but humans who are able to continue to struggle to get out of the factual tests experienced by humans on earth. Because perfect humans, success and always being winners according to Pramoedya do not exist on earth but in heaven.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the main characteristics of al-Hikmah Muta'aliyah and examine how this philosophy harmonizes philosophical and theological views in Islam. In addition, this article analyzes the relevance of Mulla Sadra's philosophy in the context of contemporary Islamic thought. The method used in this research is a descriptive-analytical method with a comprehensive approach. The primary data used in this research are the works of Mulla Sadra. The secondary data in this study are books, journal articles, and other websites that discuss Mulla Sadra's thoughts. The results of this study indicate that al-Hikmah Muta'aliyah or Transcendent Theosophy developed by Mulla Sadra in the 17th century is one of the most influential philosophical thought systems in Islamic philosophy. By combining elements from philosophy, theology, and mysticism, Mulla Sadra created an innovative framework that integrates existential, ontological, and epistemological aspects. The main tenets in al-Hikmah Muta'aliyah include asālat al-wujūd (primacy of existence) that places existence as the fundamental reality compared to essence, as well as tashkīk al-wujūd (gradation of existence) that supports the unity of existence by considering the diversity of manifestations. Other concepts, such as harakah al-jawhariyyah (substantial movement) and ilm al-hudhūrī (knowledge through presence), provide new views in understanding the soul's development and existence. Their relevance in the context of contemporary Islamic thought lies in their ability to combine rational, spiritual, and transcendental aspects in understanding reality and provide a broader perspective in addressing the intellectual and moral challenges of the modern world.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the concept of Ibn Miskawaih's Mental Health in his work entitled Tahdzibul Al-Akhlaq and its relevance to the mental health of Generation Z. The writing method used in this study is a qualitative method in the form of a literature study with the primary book by Ibn Miskawaih entitled Tahdzib Al-Akhlaq which has been translated into Menuju Kesempurnaan Akhlak. In the process of analyzing the data, the author uses a descriptive-analytical analysis method. The results of this study indicate the conclusion that various mental health issues faced by Generation Z, as well as the relevance of mental health in Ibn Miskawaih's thinking, are expected to be the foundation for the formation of strong mental health. Because, for Ibn Miskawaih, mental health is a divine faculty, not physical, so that it can affect the activities of the mind and heart in everyday life. Especially for the mental health of Generation Z. This paper contributes to modern Islamic thought in understanding various mental problems of Generation Z scientifically which include attitudes and behavior both physically and mentally.

Abstract

This paper examines the transformation of the reading and meaning of the Qur'an by actualizing it in the existing reality. The research method in this paper is exploratory descriptive research, in explanatory research, it is research that aims to describe or describe clearly the problems studied. Exploratory is a method that functions to deepen intellectual studies or to get new ideas about a problem being studied. Arkoun was one of the Islamic thinkers who came from al-Jazair but was heavily influenced by French thought, by collaborating with new ideas in studying Islam, especially in rereading the Qur'an in terms of linguistics and meaning. By looking at the readings that have been done previously, Arkoun assesses that there is a lot of mystical and there are some meanings that are missing from various readings that put the Qur'an into a narrow realm and the readings carried out only focus on a few studies such as theology, Sufism and filth, but also must touch the social conditions according to the conditions of the current reality. Therefore, there is a need for a rereading or transformation of meaning by looking at the new reality and epistemology in interpreting the Qur'an.

Abstract

This article wants to explain the framework of Muhammad Iqbal's thinking in studying the renewal of Islamic knowledge in the form of hadith, in this case from a hermenutics perspective. Of course, what Muhammad Iqbal did received responses from two different sides in the form of those who agreed with the reform framework and those who did not agree with the reform framework, especially with the word hermeneutics. Those who do not agree with the heremeneutical framework prioritize the takwil framework, but in this case it is not that meaning that is discussed in this article but what is discussed is the hermeneutic framework. By using the library research method using primary sources written directly by Muhammad Iqbal and adding secondary sources in data processing, researchers found that the hadith conveyed by the Prophet must be able to be explained using a hermeneutical framework that is appropriate to social conditions. So, the meaning associated with hadith must be sought again within the framework of hermeneutics as a modern science. The hermenutics of hadith that must be understood is hadith hermeneutics, not the transfer of hadith texts to a new context arbitrarily, otherwise the hadith texts would be static and devoid of change. But what Muhammad Iqbal wanted was that the text must live up to the times. Where hadiths that do not fit into the framework of change and cannot keep up with the times do not have to be followed.

Abstract

This article describes the development of modern rationalism in the renaissance century which focuses on philosophers: Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz, and Pascal. This article is a qualitative article which is analyzed using descriptive, explorative and analytical methods. This article finds data that modern rationalism in the renaissance century was marked by the thoughts of three great figures namely Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz, who created the rise of the use of reason as a tool to gain knowledge. While Pascal has another view that the element of the heart is often far more important than the element of ratio. For Pascal, getting knowledge is obtained in two ways, the mind and the heart, and the heart has its own logic. The three Rationalists based their philosophy on the concept of substance, but they differed in the relationship between soul and matter and the amount of substance. Descartes mentions that there are three substances: God, soul and matter, Spinoza only recognizes God. Meanwhile, for Leibniz, the substance is God and the monades (family of souls). Meanwhile, Pascal's thought is to see that humans are creatures that need God, because the only way to understand humans is through religion.
