Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and explain the evolutionary concept errors of FPMIPA IKIP Mataram students. Knowing misconceptions or misconcepts is a starting point for designing better learning to eliminate these misconceptions. This research is a descriptive survey research. Respondents in this study were 50 students majoring in biology FPMIPA IKIP Mataram who had taken the evolution course. Data were obtained using a questionnaire consisting of 10 statements, and then measures of the level of students' misconceptions about evolution were analyzed using a certainty of response index (CRI). Based on the results of this study it was concluded that students experience misconceptions about evolution, or have a low understanding of evolution, so it is also suggested to supplement the literature sources or learning resources for students, which in this case are books or handouts that are suitable (free of misconceptions), with the hope students will have a better understanding of evolution.

Abstract

LKS has been implemented in schools in general and has not presented problems related to local wisdom in learning so that students do not develop their skills. The research objective is to develop LKS based on local wisdom and improve problem-solving skills. The type of research Research and Development that uses a 4D model includes defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The instruments in the study were validation sheets, learning implementation observation sheets (RPP), observation sheets for problem-solving skills, and student response questionnaires. Data collection techniques used is validation, observation, questionnaire, documentation. The results showed that the development of local wisdom-based LKS was feasible with a validity level of 3.59 (valid / non-revised categories). The implementation of RPP learning with an average value of 88.4% (very good category), problem-solving skills of students with an average value of 75 (good category), with quality improvement reaching at 0.42 (medium category), average value the student response questionnaire is 3.70 (very good category). Based on the above results it can be concluded that the LKS based on local wisdom that has been developed is declared valid/not revised and is feasible to use and can improve students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study was aimed to riview the quality of sea water in terms of phytoplankton diversity index as the impact of aquaculture shrimp ponds in Madayin village, Sambelia District of East Lombok. This study was conducted in March to June 2018. Sampling was done by purposive sampling method as 6 sampling points was 3 points (stations 4, 5 and 6) were taken from the outlet of sewage shrimp, 1 point (station 3) were taken from estuary, and 2 points (stations 1 and 2) were taken from the sea. Water samples was taken 50 liters and was filtered using 25μm plankton nets. Filtered water put into bottles samples then was preserved by formalin 4%. Phytoplankton analysis was carried out in Biology Laboratory FPMIPA Faculty of Mataram University. Results showed that the diversity index (H) ranged from 2.055 to 2.257, this value indices were moderate/medium. Equitability index (E) value of ranged from moderate to high where the stations 1 and 3 were moderate (0.5 <E <0.75) while stations 2, 4, 5 and 6 were high (E> 0.75). All stations showed that there were no dominance of phytoplankton species. Based on the results, the condition of Madayin coastal was moderate to good condition, no significant ecological pressure.

Abstract

The main purpose of Indonesian national education system is to create a Pancasilais human being, characterized by living with religious values and noble humanity. Islamic higher education then played a significant role by developing an education system that integrated science and religion into their curriculum by put some specific Islamic theology course/subject onto their science department. In consequence, the paradigm learning model which is phylosophicaly, holistic, and integrative is strongly needed. This kind of learning model would give birth to an aksiological aspect by emerging the spiritual factor. Thereby, religion would became  a value system that always embedded in every science course/subject.

Abstract

Learning science including biology is strived to lead to the formation of skills not only relies on conceptual mastery. So it is necessary to instill skills in students through teaching and learning activities, one of them is science process skills. FPMIPA IKIP Mataram students are currently future candidates for natural science educators who have the responsibility to train their students to achieve the expected learning outcomes. Science process skills are one of the life skills that a person must possess in facing competition in the 21st century. These skills can be trained through inquiry learning. This study aims to describe the students' science process skills after being taught using an inquiry-oriented worksheet. This type of research is a pre-experimental design with one shoot case study. Data collection techniques are observation and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate the science process skills of students who use an inkuri-based worksheet of 75.73 with good categories. Based on the results above, the conclusion of this research is the science process skills of students after the implementation of the inquiry-oriented worksheet on average reaches a good category.

Abstract

Jangkok River is one of the lotic ecosystems in the city of Mataram. Based on previous studies it was concluded that this river has various types of biodiversity in it. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of Annelida found in the Jangkok River in Mataram City. This type of research is descriptive exploratory research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. This research was conducted on March 14, 2018. The research samples were river water taken at 3 stations namely upstream, middle and downstream using purposive sampling technique. Based on its existence, the Annelida type was found in downstream stations as many as 46 individuals, and 5 at the middle station, whereas it was not found at the upstream station. The type of Annelida found is the Olygochaeta class with Lumbricus terestis species and Tubifex sp. and the Hirudinae class with Hirudo medicinalis species.

Abstract

This study aimed that to examine the extent of the diversity of morphological characters from random cross-breeding with mixtur  parental sources, then packaged to add material to the subject matter of Vertebrate Animal Systematics as a reference source for students of Biology Education Study Program FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. This research is a case study based on explorations descriptive that are presented qualitatively. A total of 24 cats were obtained by road sampling. Morphological characters include body color, color pattern, fur length, and tail length. The results showed that the frequency of appearance of morphological characters due to marriage in the same lineage led to the characteristics of mixtur race cats by 90.7% and 8.3% of domestic cats. Inline marriages (between siblings/mothers) tend to show large-medium round, high morphology, solid color patterns, thick fur, and long tails. While the appearance of short-tailed morphological characters leading to domestic cats and gray colors in low frequencies is thought to be the result of lethal and heterozygous genes derived.

Abstract

Lombok is one of the main islands in Indonesia that has a variety of ecosystem types that have the potential to be developed into ecotourism. The purpose of this study is to identify the biodiversity composing the ecosystem of Tibu Bunter Waterfall as one of the potentials of ecotourism. Explorative descriptive research type. The research location is located in Tibu Bunter Waterfall, Pesantek Hamlet in Pakuan Village, Narmada District - West Lombok. The results showed that there were 14 animal species and 21 plant species found around the Tibu Bunter Waterfall. Of the several animal species found, there is one unique species in the Least Concern category based on IUCN RED LIST (2011), namely needle dragonflies with a Calopterygidae pregnancy. In the plant species found there are several types of canopy plants, bamboo species, nail plants, bush plants, herbaceous plants, to mosses. It was concluded that the ecosystem of the Tibu Bunter Waterfall has high biodiversity potential and developed into an ecotourism area.

While the samples in this study were traditional medicinal plants in the Olat Cabe Forest Area of Batu Bangka Village, Moyo Hilir Subdistrict, Sumbawa Besar District. Data collection techniques used are observation and interview. Data analysis techniques use univariate statistics such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and variance. The purpose of descriptive analysis is to find out the description or distribution of sample or population data. Descriptive analysis was chosen based on the measurement scale. For nominal and interval data, descriptive analysis techniques that can be done are only modes, while interval and ratio scale data can be done by all descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study identified 40 types of medicinal plants, from 25 families and 40 genus types of medicinal plants commonly used by the community.
