Abstract

Hand line is the simplest type of fishing gear. It consists of a fishing rod, fishing line, and weight or bait. The Coronavirus outbreak has had an impact on capture fisheries marketing, where fish prices have decreased by up to 50%. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an effect of the Covid 19 pandemic on the number of yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares) catches on hand line vessels at PPS Bungus, West Sumatra Province. Productivity of hand line trip and per crew in 2019 has the highest results and there is always a decrease in 2020, productivity per trip and crew in 2020 has decreased from 2019, again there is an increase in productivity results from 2020 - 2021 although not significant. The decline in average productivity from 2019 - 2021 is the impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic, and the factors for the decline in catch productivity are the fishing season, bad weather so that the water conditions are murky (brown) which makes it difficult to catch

Abstract

Gillnet fishing gear is an environmentally friendly fishing gear but in 2018-2020 the catch was reduced. The purpose of this study was to determine the sustainability status of gillnet fisheries based on ecological, social, and economic aspects at the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit. Data analysis in this study used Rapfish (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries) technique. The rapfish technique is a multidisciplinary ordination technique used to evaluate/determine/compare the status of fisheries in terms of their sustainability. This study shows that in general, the sustainability index of gillnet fisheries in the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit is between the index values of 25.01-50 which is classified as less sustainable. Monte Carlo simulation results show that the distribution of sustainability index plots is at a distance that is not far and coincides with the position of the sustainability index ordination, supporting the accuracy of determining the ordination of the sustainability status examined. Sensitivity analysis showed that the attributes of changes in fish weight in the last 5 years, family participation in the utilization of fishery resources, and alternative employment and income are attributes that greatly affect the sustainability of gillnet fisheries in the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit

Abstract

EAFM or Ecosystem Approach for Fisheries Management is a concept of how to balance socio-economic goals in fisheries management while still considering knowledge, information and uncertainty about biotic, abiotic and human interactions in aquatic ecosystems through a comprehensive and sustainable integrated fisheries management. The fishery potential is quite large in Bungus waters and the continuous fishing activities carried out by boat lift fishermen lead to overfishing; therefore fisheries management is very necessary to realize sustainable fisheries, especially for fishery commodities. The purpose of this study was to determine the status of the management of the bagan boat fishery in Bungus pps. This research was conducted in February 2022 at the Samudra Bungus Fishing Port, West Sumatra. The method used in this study uses the method issued by the National Working Group EAFM.DIT SDI KKP; the data taken are primary data and secondary data. Analysis of the data used using an ordinal-based likert scoring with a scoring assessment of 1,2,3. The greater the value, the better the EAFM that has been run. The results of the study show that the management of capture fisheries in the fishing technique domain at PPS Bungus is still lacking in implementing EAFM with a composite value of 18.8

Abstract

The bottom gill net is one of the fishing gears made from a rectangular net installed at the bottom of the water. The basic gill net construction used is a net thread made of monofilament polyamide material, the size of the fishing gear used is a net length of 2.50 meters, a net body width of 1.5 meters, and a mesh size of 3 inches. Knowing the state of the environment is a very important reason to increase the catch by using environmental parameters such as physical parameters that are easier to observe. The main fishing items are Coral Pond (Lethrinus lentjan), Timunan (Lutjanidae vitta), Yellowtail (Lutjanus fulviflamma), Red Snapper (L.bitaeniatus), and Kuwe (Caranx ignobilis). Bycatch is Black Pomfret (Parastromateus niger), Seminyak (Plectorhinchus), Gerut (Pamadasys maculatus), Stingray (Dasyatis sp), Lepu Batu (Pterois volitans), and Crab (Portunidae). This study aims to determine the composition of the catch. This research was carried out in Sedanau waters in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands Province for 7 days in February 2022 using the survey method. One unit of basic gill mesh is operated to collect data and is analyzed by analysis of the composition of types and weights. The results showed that 11 types of fish were caught and dominated by Yellowtail (L.fulviflamma) as many as 77 with a percentage value of 26.46%.

Abstract

Based on data from the Dumai City PPI Office in 2013 and 2019, the number of belat fishing gear in Dumai City has decreased from 20 to 7. It is suspected that there are symptoms of overfishing caused by the non-selectivity of this belat, where the bycatch is greater than the main catch, and supported by belat construction data because it is known that fishermen use a small mesh size of 1 inch. The study's purpose is to find out how the main catch and bycatch which amount of catch is more caught. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and research methods with survey methods. The main catch of belat weighing 1.914.9 kg is composed of white shrimp (Penaeus indicus), kelong shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis), Malaysian prawn (Macrobranchium rosenbergii), smallhead catfish (Euristhmus microceps), bluespot mullet (Crenimugil seheli), gulamah (Panna microdon), and the bycatch weighs 710 kg is composed of Fourfinger threadfin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum), sagor catfish (Hexanematichthys sagor), milk shark (Rhizoprionodon acutus), stingray (Dasyatis sephen), silver sillago (Sillago sihama), white snapper (Lates calcarifer), spotted scat (Scatophagus argus), crab (Portunus pelagicus), pomfret (Pampus argenteus), and saddle grunt (Pomadasis maculates).
