Abstract

The skin of the coffee fruit is plantation waste that can be used as animal feed because it is available in large quantities and contains quite good food substances; it's just that because it contains several anti-nutritional substances, it is necessary to pre-treat fermentation to reduce the anti-nutritional content and increase its nutritional value. This study aims to examine the effect of giving the skin of coffee beans fermented with tempeh yeast in rations on performance, liver weight, length and percentage of small intestine weight of broiler chickens aged 1 - 5 weeks. This study used the experimental method CRD (completely randomized design) with 5 treatments (P0 = control; P1 = 5%; P2 = 10%; P3 = 15%; and P4 = 20%) and each treatment had 4 replications. The results showed that the fermented coffee pods had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on ration consumption, body weight gain, and ration conversion; but had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on liver weight, length and percentage of small intestine weight.

Abstract

Ale-ale shells are popular shellfish in the Ketapang coastal area. The local community uses the shellfish a lot as food processing, one of which is in the form of fermented products. In the fermentation process, the nutritional content of course will be different from fresh ale-ale because it has gone through the preservation process. In this study, several work procedures were carried out for proximate testing including measuring pH, determining water content, ash content, protein content, fat content and carbohydrate content. The proximate content in fermented products is different and tends to decrease, such as protein content, fat content, carbohydrates. This is due to the difference in preparations between fresh ale-ale and fermented ale-ale products. The purpose of testing proximate levels is to determine the difference in proximate content between fresh ale and ale ale that is processed by fermentation.

Abstract

Hard candy is a solid and hard-textured snack, the main ingredients in the manufacture of hard candy are sucrose, water, glucose syrup, while the additives are flavor, coloring and acidifying. The ratio of the amount of sucrose and glucose syrup used in the manufacture of hard candy will determine the texture that is formed. In general, hard candy is only known as a source of calories and does not contain antioxidants. One type of plant that is rarely used is the fruit of Senduduk Bulu (Clidemia hirta L.), this fruit contains high levels of antioxidants that can ward off free radicals in the body. The aims of this research are to investigate the effect of sucrose and glucose syrup ratio and the addition of different concentrations of senduduk bulu extract on physicochemical and organoleptic properties of hard candy. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors, namely the ratio of sucrose and glucose syrup consisting of 3 levels (70%: 30%, 75%: 25% and 80%: 20%) and the concentration of senduduk bulu extract with 4 levels. (0%, 3%, 6%, 9%). The parameters observed were water content, reducing sugar, antioxidant activity, hedonic organoleptics (color, taste, and texture). The results concluded that the ratio of sucrose and glucose syrup had a significant effect on reducing sugars concentration (P< 0.05), and was very significant (P <0.01) on organoleptic (color, taste) but did not affect water content, and organoeptic texture of hard candy . The addition of senduduk bulu extract had a very significant effect (P <0.001) on water content, reducing sugar concentration, and organoleptics (color, taste, texture) on hard candy senduduk bulu. The hard candy formula most preferred by panelists based on the hedonic test was A1B4 treatment (the composition of the ratio of sucrose and glucose syrup 70%: 30% with 9% senduduk bulu extract). The average value of the panelists' preference level for the parameters of color 3.66, taste 3.54, texture 2.82 and the average value of the test results 1.98% water content, 6.26% reduction sugar and has a very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 36.84 ppm. All analysis tests met the quality requirements of SNI3547.1: 2008 hard candy.

Abstract

The road is one of the important infrastructure in supportmobility of community activities. Based on the type of pavement can be dividedinto 3, namely flexible pavement, rigid pavement, and composite pavements. Construction problemsthe road is the subgrade and its compaction work. In this research leadsto the relationship of subgrade to flexible pavement. On flexible pavement there is a 3-layer structure, namely suface, base andsub-base. The thick structure of the flexible pavement layer is severely hampered by subgrade.In this Final Project, the analysis was carried out on 3 variations of CBR, namely 6%, 10%, and15% and compared to 2 variations of the material in the top foundation layer (LPA)and sub-base layer (LPB) and 2 variations of methods, namely the Bina Marga method andAASHTO. From the evaluation results with CBR variations, material variations and variationsmethod, obtained the results of the thickness of the pavement with CBR variations that are getting biggerCBR value, the smaller the thickness of the pavement layer, if seen from the variationthe material the lower the material quality, the thicker the pavement layer, and if it is seen from the variation of the method which is the most accurate and suitable to be appliedIndonesia is the DGH method. Then it can be denied that the subgrade andmaterial greatly affects the thickness of the flexible pavement layer.

Abstract

The Objective of this research is to know the effect of using Problem Based Learning (PBL) on Learning Outcomes of Students in The Simple Machine In Grade VIII The First Semester SMP Negeri 14 Medan Academic Year 2019/2020. The research method is true Eksperimental . The Population was all students at grade VIII of SMPN 14 Medan Academic Year 2019/2020. The Samples to conduct this research were two classes, class VIIIF as the experiment class and class VIIID as control class, definid by random cluster sampling. The research instrument are learning achievement test and student activity observation sheet. The result that were obtained was: post-test mean value of the experiment class was 58,55 and 50,00 for control class. Deviation standart for two classes was 12,12 and 12,38. From the calculation of t-test one side for α=0,05 and n=60, obtained tcount>ttable where tcount= 1,80 and ttable=2,78. So it can be concluded that there was an effect of using Problem Based Learning (PBL) on Learning Outcomes of Learner in The Simple MachineTopic In Grade VIII The First Semester SMPN 14 Medan Academic Year 2019/2020 with calculation of linear regression were = 22,50 + 0,59X. It can be seen from the increase in student learning out comes by 17%

Abstract

Merdeka Square is one of the icons of Medan City which is continously visited by communities of Medan City or immigrant communities because Medan City is the capital of North Sumatera Province with a high complexity of activities in it. Improvements to the road transportation system facilities, especially sidewalk facilites, are important because the purpose of implementing sidewalks is as a special pedestrian lane with security and safety guarantees against traffic accidents. This study aims to look at people’s perceptions as the main users of sidewalk facilities so that they can encourage people to carry out walking activities as a basic moda of transportation. This research was conducted with a quantitative approach with accidental sampling method, namely primary data is the result of direct interviews in the field to the public using sidewalk facilities at Merdeka Square, Medan City. Based on the result of the analysis conducted on the results of the interview, it was found that the community as users of the sidewalks were not satisfied with the existing sidewalks facilities. So this study aims to provide input in order to improve sidewalk facilities that provide comfort and safety values for pedestrians in order to encourage and increase the number of pedestrians, especially at Merdeka Square, Medan City.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low science scores of students at the school, so researchers want to conduct research to find out if there is an increase in student learning outcomes in science when using the animation-assisted inquiry learning model. This type of research is quasi-experimental, the research design used is Two Group Pre test-Post test Design, eighth and the research population is all grade students of SMP Swasta Parulian 1 Medan. The instrument used in the learning outcomes test was 20 multiple choice questions which were validated by 2 science teachers in junior high school. The research result shows the score average pre test of 37.80 in 40.00 in the experimental class and control class and score post test of 82.00 in 71.00 in the experimental class and control class. Each sample group has normal data and has been tested using the Lilliefors test using SPSS, with the calculation of the results pre test obtained that L significance > 0.05, namely (0.114 > 0.05) for the experimental class and (0.148 > 0.05) for the experimental class. control, and the results post test obtained that L significance > 0.05, namely (0.066 > 0.05) for the experimental class and (0.071 > 0.05) for the control class. Furthermore, the data for both samples have homogeneous variances and have been tested using the SPSS F test, with the calculation of the results pre test obtained that F significance > 0.05 (0.728 > 0.05), and the results post test obtained that F significance 0.05 ( 0.050 ≥ 0.05). The research hypothesis test was carried out using the t-test (one-sided test). From the calculation results, it is obtained that the t significance < 0.05 is (0.000 < 0.05). then the result of hypothesis Ha is accepted. Based on the results of the overall data analysis, the t significance of < t is (0.000 < 0.05) and simple regression analysis Y = a + bx is Y = 38.347 + 0.573X. Inquiry learning model assisted by animation media can improve student learning outcomes with a large effect of increasing learning outcomes 15.5% which has a correlation coefficient of r = 0.491 (medium positive correlation). In conclusion, science learning outcomes using an inquiry learning model assisted by animation media can increase student learning outcomes by 15.5%.

Abstract

The objectives of this study was to observe the effect of dolomite and NPK fertilizer application on growth, yield and leaf phosphorus levels of soybeans (Glycine max (L.) Merril) due to the application of dolomite and NPK fertilizers. This research was conducted from June 2019 to December 2019, at the Experimental Station of Agriculture Faculty of University of HKBP Nommensen Medan in Simalingkar B Village, Medan Tuntungan District at an altitude of ±33m above sea level. Soil type Ultisol with Tex-sand 43.75%, Tex-dust 42.18%, Tex-clay 14.07; pH 4.63; cation exchange capacity (CEC) 14.64%, Ptotal 0.10%, N kjehldahl 1.9% K-exch 0.20%, Ca-exch 1.32%, Mg-exch 0.92%. This research was arranged in a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 treatment factors, namely, the first factor was dolomite (D) which consisted of 3 levels, namely: D0 = 0 g/polybag, D1 = 11.2 g/polybag, D2 = 22.4 g/polybag. The second factor was NPK fertilizer (N), which consisted of 4 levels, namely: N0 = 0 g/polybag, N1 = 1.5g/polybag, N2 = 3 g/polybag and N3 = 4.5g/polybag. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of pods, number of filled pods, weight of filled pods, dry seed production per plant, dry weight of 100 seeds and leaf phosphorus levels. The results showed that dolomite application had a very significant effect on the number of pods, number of filled pods, weight of filled pods, dry seed production per plant, dry weight of 100 seeds, but had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves and leaf phosphorus levels. The application of NPK fertilizer had a very significant effect on the number of pods, number of filled pods, dry seed production per plant, dry weight of 100 seeds but had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, weight of filled pods and leaf phosphorus content. The interaction of dolomite and NPK fertilizer had no significant effect on all observed parameters.

Abstract

Concete is one of the construction materials used with a need that continues to increase every year based on concete-forming materils, especially cement, which has experienced a fairly large increase. Based on this, many studies have been carried out to reduce the need for cement using silica-containing materials, one of which is husk ash.Rice husk ash is produced from burning rice husk which contains silica. With these properties when mixed into the concrete mixture will improve the characteristics of the concrete. This study aims to determine the compressive strength of conrete achieved form a mixture of rice husk ash in concrete. The specimens made for each addition of the percentage of huck ash were 12 samples, with a cylindrical mold size of 15 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height. Variations of rice husk ash used were 3%, 6%, 9% of amount of cement. The type of test was carried out in the form the compressive strength of concrete and observations were made at the age of 7,14,21 28 days. Form the results of the study it was found that the increase in the compressive strength of conrete from the waste of adding rice husk ash as an additive to cement to creste quality and environmentally friendly concrete.

Abstract

The occurrence of flooding on Jln.Pelita 1, Medan Perjuangan District in Medan City was caused by the inability of the existing drainage channel to accommodate direct runoff and blockage of drainage channels by garbage.The hydrological analysis uses maximum rainfall data for the last 10 years, then calculations are carried out that aim to calculate the planned discharge using the rational method. The area of ​​the Medan Perjuangan sub-district is 0.2475 Km2 with hydraulics analysis carried out to calculate the discharge capacity of the drainage channel using the Continuity formula and the Manning formula, after which the appropriate system and dimensions are planned. With a ketchment area of ​​Medan Perjuangan sub-district 0.2475 km2, the calculation of drainage planning using the Gumbel Method of planned rainfall for a return period of ±10 years, with the largest discharge on the combined section of the primary canal and the Kemiling area. Then it was found that the flood height in the research area was as high as 10-20 cm and because of the existing dimensions it was not able to accommodate the design discharge. Thus, the appropriate channel dimensions are planned using a shaped cross section so that the design discharge (Qr) > channel discharge (Qs).
