Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute respiratory tract infection that affects the lungs and remains one of the leading causes of death among children. It accounts for approximately 14% of all deaths in children under five years of age, with an estimated 740,180 deaths, and about 22% of all deaths among children aged one to five years. The risk factors for pneumonia consist of intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Cigarette smoke is considered an intrinsic risk factor for pneumonia, although it is not a direct cause, as exposure to cigarette smoke can irritate the respiratory tract in susceptible children and increase the risk of pneumonia by up to twofold. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking habits inside the home and the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. The method used was a literature review conducted through Google Scholar, including published journals from 2020 to 2025. The results of the literature review indicate a significant relationship between smoking habits inside the home and the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. Therefore, it can be concluded that exposure to cigarette smoke, both directly and indirectly within the home environment, increases the risk of toddlers developing lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.

Abstract

Leukemia, commonly known as blood cancer, is a type of blood cancer that occurs when white blood cells outside normal limits multiply rapidly in the bone marrow. This process involves white blood cells, an important part of the immune system that fights infections. Leukemia occurs when an abnormality causes the bone marrow to produce more mature white blood cells (leukemia cells). To determine the effect of acupressure therapy on vomiting nausea and the quality of life of children with leukemia. The method used is review literature by searching articles through Google Scholar and PubMed databases. There are 3 articles that meet inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results show that acupressure therapy can significantly lower vomiting nausea and improve the quality of life. Conclusion: Acupressur therapy has proven effective as complementary therapy to lower vomiting nausea and improve the quality of life for leukemia children.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common degenerative diseases experienced by the elderly and can cause serious complications if left unattended. One alternative to non-pharmacological therapy used is the use of herbs, such as celery leaves. Celery leaves contain active compounds such as apigenins and phthalides that have diuretic effects and vasodilators. To determine the effectiveness of celery leaf boiled water in lowering blood pressure in the elderly through review literature. This study used a literature review method of five articles obtained through a systematic search using Google Scholar with certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. Studies show that the administration of celery leaf stew is effective in significantly lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure. A celery leaf stew is effective as a nonpharmacological therapy to lower blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension.

Abstract

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the world and the main cause of physical disability in  productive and old age. Stroke is a term used to describe neurological changes caused by an  interruption of the blood supply to a part of the brain. Complications that will occur in stroke  sufferers is that it can cause death. The purpose of conducting a case study is to apply nursing care  to stroke patients who experience increased blood pressure through a comprehensive nursing process  approach. The research method is a descriptive method with a case study approach accompanied by  the application of evidence-based practices. Nursing care is carried out on a male patient, named  Mr. N is 51 years old with a medical diagnosis of non-hemorrhagic stroke at Pasar Rebo Hospital  Jakarta on March 14-16 2022. The results of the study obtained five nursing problems, namely  ineffective cerebral tissue perfusion, risk of decreased cardiac output, risk of nutritional deficits,  physical mobility barriers, nursing deficits self. At the implementation stage, the authors did 10-15  minutes of foot reflexology therapy with a frequency of 1x/day for 3 consecutive days to lower blood  pressure. The results of nursing care and application obtained the conclusion that foot reflexology  has not been proven as a whole in reducing blood pressure. It is hoped that the results of this study  can teach foot reflexology therapy to patients and their families to reduce blood pressure.

Edema treatment can be done by acupuncture, warm water compresses, light yoga stretching. One of them is foot massage and warm water soak mixed with kencur. This study aims to determine the effect of foot massage and warm water soak mixed with galangal on edema in third trimester pregnant women. The search strategy was carried out through Google Scholar. The research method used was literature review with a total of five articles. The results showed that there was a significant decrease after the intervention, the average range of decrease was 1-1.45 cm. By knowing the effect of foot massage and warm water soak mixed with kencur on edema in third trimester pregnant women, it is hoped that this action can be applied to pregnant women who experience edema in the third trimester.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a period that begins from conception until the birth of the fetus. Pregnancy lasts for 9 months, or 40 weeks, or 280 days calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP). Many changes occur during pregnancy, one of which is physical changes that cause back pain. Management of pain in pregnant women can include non-pharmacological therapy, namely endorphin massage. This study aims to determine the effect of endorphin massage on reducing the intensity of back pain in pregnant women. Article search strategies were conducted through Google Scholar. The research method, using a literature review, refers to the issues, methodology, and consistency of the results obtained. Six articles met the criteria for review. Data were collected from articles in national journals from the period 2020–2025. The study results showed that there was a significant effect on reducing the intensity of back pain in pregnant women. Given the effect of endorphin massage on reducing back pain intensity, this endorphin massage therapy can be considered a safe, effective, and easily applied supportive intervention in the management of back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester.
