Abstract

Gout arthritis is a degenerative disease that affects the joint system and is characterized by the accumulation of uric acid crystals, which trigger inflammatory processes. This condition causes symptoms such as swelling, redness, and pain in several parts of the body. In addition to pharmacological therapy, non-pharmacological interventions such as warm cinnamon compresses may be used to help reduce pain complaints. This study aimed to determine the benefits of warm cinnamon compresses in reducing pain intensity among patients with gout arthritis. The research method employed was a literature review of five scientific articles obtained through a systematic search of Google Scholar and ResearchGate based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review results indicated that all analyzed articles reported a reduction in pain intensity, from severe to mild pain, following the application of cinnamon compresses in elderly patients with gout arthritis. In conclusion, warm cinnamon compresses have an effect on reducing pain in elderly individuals with gout arthritis.

Abstract

Children who are hospitalized due to illness often experience anxiety due to separation from their parents, a new environment, and physical discomfort due to illness. Therefore, an intervention is needed to reduce children's anxiety so that they can receive treatment cooperatively. Storytelling therapy can be a solution for children who are hospitalized because it can reduce anxiety in children. The application of storytelling therapy in this study was given to children with dengue fever who experienced anxiety due to hospitalization. To reduce the anxiety of children hospitalized with dengue fever. A nursing care case study and the application of storytelling in children hospitalized with dengue fever. The application was carried out on a 14-year-old boy with dengue fever. The application of storytelling for 5 to 10 minutes with a frequency of 2x/day for three days was proven to be able to reduce the child's anxiety level. The final evaluation results showed a decrease in the anxiety level from 8 to 3 on the third day. Storytelling therapy can be applied to reduce anxiety through a nursing process approach via nursing care for children with dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Abstract

Hypertension is influenced by various factors, including age, genetic history, a sedentary lifestyle, psychological stress, high-sodium diet, smoking, and lack of physical activity. Hypertension management includes pharmacological therapy with antihypertensive medications and non-pharmacological approaches such as relaxation techniques. Foot reflexology is one non-pharmacological intervention that can provide a relaxing effect, potentially lowering blood pressure in individuals with hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of foot reflexology to blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The method used was an observational case study, a research approach that aims to analyze or evaluate a physical object, process, or ongoing activity in two respondents. The results showed that foot reflexology was able to lower blood pressure in both respondents, with an average difference of 10 mmHg for the first respondent and 17.5-20 mmHg for the second respondent.

Abstract

Hypertension, known as the silent killer, is a global health problem with a high prevalence rate. Hypertension needs to be treated seriously to prevent complications. The purpose of this study was to apply nursing care and finger grip and deep breathing relaxation techniques to hypertensive patients using a comprehensive nursing process approach. This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach accompanied by the application of evidence-based practices. Nursing care was provided to a 57-year-old female patient with a medical diagnosis of hypertension. The assessment revealed four nursing problems, namely risk of decreased cardiac output, acute pain, risk of nutritional deficiency, and activity intolerance. The implementation carried out for the nursing problem of risk of decreased cardiac output included performing finger grip relaxation and deep breathing techniques. The evaluation results showed a decrease in blood pressure from 211/100 mmHg on the first day to 152/76 mmHg on the third day. Nurses can teach finger grip relaxation and deep breathing techniques to patients and families to lower blood pressure.
