The opportunity of demographic dividend is the biggest motivation in improving the quality of the population. As one of the components of the population quality, education is also a long-term investment. Economic activities in Indonesia depends on the agricultural sector. This study aims to determine the determinants of children's school participation in agricultural households. Using the 2018 National Social and Economic Survey data, the results of binary logistic regression analysis show that economic activity has the most significant contribution to determine children's school participation in agricultural households. Children in agricultural households who are not involved in economic activities tend to attend school. Other important factors in determining children's school participation in agricultural households are government assistance, the age of household heads (KRT), education of KRT, employment status of KRT, number of household members, residence area, and socio-economic status. Increasing the determinants of school participation is expected to help the population adapt to the technology-based modern agricultural sector and achieve prosperity in agricultural households.

This paper was not necessarily discussing COVID-19 as Malthus' positive check, but it examines the current efforts to overcome and control the COVID-19 pandemic as a preventive and positive check. COVID-19 gives credence to the Malthusian Theory of Population. The key features of this model are that the preventive checks that should be carried out by men are not only limited to controlling the population through family planning but also to control the pressure on the existing resources. The two forces will act to restore equilibrium: preventive check and positive check. From the Malthusian theory, herd immunity in the time of COVID-19 regarded as a positive check. As Indonesia's home to more than 270 million population, the mortality rate likely uncontrollable. Thus herd immunity should not be chosen as a policy option.

Maternal and child mortality is still considered a health issue in Indonesia. Health behavior during pregnancy is an essential factor that determines the health of mother and baby. This study aims to examine the behavior of maternal health during pregnancy in Medan City and to analyze its important social determinants. Quantitative data collection using a survey of 400 households in 20 urban villages in Medan City, North Sumatera Province. This study found that 49% of respondents had good behaviors during pregnancy, while those with moderate and poor behaviors during pregnancy were 22% and 29%, respectively. Ordinal logistic regression model indicates husband education, insurance ownership, service quality, and household financial autonomy as social determinants of maternal health behavior during pregnancy. Many factors influenced maternal health behavior during pregnancy both from supply and demand side of health services. Thus, to improve maternal health behavior during pregnancy, it is essential to develop the mother’s knowledge of the importance of antenatal care. Besides that, health service providers also need to ensure the quality of their health services

The studies of environmental migration are still limited in Indonesia. Within the limited literature in the Indonesian context, Research Center for Population LIPI has conducted studies on environmental migration in 2015-2016 and the abandonment of shrimp pond due to migration in 2013 in Delta Mahakam, East Kalimantan. Using Livelihood Trajectories (LT) approach, this paper aims to examine the people’s adaptation in Delta Mahakam related to environmental migration. The LT approach gives more understanding of the adaptation process that leads to migration decision-making. By applying a qualitative approach using interviews and focus group discussion (FGD), data are collected related to the changes of landscape livelihood and the adaptation to respond to it. The interviews and FGD conducted with farmers, fishers, aquaculture farmers who move or stay and with formal/informal leaders and patron. In the case of Delta Mahakam, migration becomes a strategy for adaptation. The decision to migrate is not an instant decision-making process but as a part of trajectories to sustain their livelihood.

Significant improvement in information, communication and technology, followed by increased transportation access has made circular mobility much easier. Although circular mobility is not a well-established concept, it refers to repeated migration experiences between origin and destination areas, and there is no intention to stay permanently in any particular destination. This paper aims to assess current types of population mobility, with special focus on circular mobility. Besides literature review, the analysis on this study based on recent studies on population mobility conducted by Research Centre for Population - Indonesian Institute of Sciences. The results show that there is a tendency for increased flow of circular mobility. In general, circular mobility is motivated by occupation and education reasons. Migrant workers still intend to migrate to other destinations that offer better job opportunities. Moreover, students plan to move to origins or move to new destinations after completing their education
