Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is a new infectious disease caused by a type of coronavirus. The high number of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has created a negative stigma against people who are exposed to it, not even positive patients who get negative stigma. Knowledge is the community's way of understanding COVID-19 and knowing how dangerous the disease is by assessing every aspect of prevention and transmission by knowing and understanding the COVID-19 disease. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and stigma in society about COVID-19, so that efforts to prevent the occurrence of social stigma related to COVID-19 that are sustainable in society can be carried out. The research method uses a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 170 respondents. The results showed that the public's knowledge about COVID-19 consisted of 88 people (51.8%) of whom the majority had sufficient knowledge. Meanwhile, community stigma about COVID-19 was found 122 people (71.8%) did not have stigma. The results of the correlation test found that the p-value was 0.441 > 0.05, meaning that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and public stigma about COVID-19. It is not enough just to know about COVID-19 to minimize stigma in the community, other factors need to be investigated.

Abstract

There have been several human rights cases in several regions in Indonesia in recent years and the ripples of conflict that have accompanied them show that there are differences in interpretation of the principles and implementation of human rights among the community. In this case, it is necessary to formulate regulations on human rights that are good and universally applicable to all groups. This research aims to offer an ideal formulation of human rights regulation in Indonesia. This research uses descriptive qualitative method or also known as literature study. This research reveals findings as one of the problem solving in human rights issues. There are three things that must be promoted as a form of struggle in maintaining human rights in Indonesia, namely strengthening the values of Pancasila as a source of human rights values, the need for a common perception of the conception of the implementation of ideal human rights in Indonesia, and the idea of a human rights education movement among the community on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

This article discusses the configuration of legal politics towards law enforcement and its impact on the legal system in Indonesia. The politicisation of law enforcement is one of the negative implications of legal politics that can cause injustice and imbalance in the justice system. In law enforcement, it is important for the state to ensure the independence of legal institutions, avoid politicisation of law enforcement, and increase the accountability of the justice system as well as maintain public trust in the legal system and government. This research aims to find out the impact of the development of legal politics on the law enforcement system in Indonesia and the existence of legal politics in the law enforcement system in this country. The method used in this research is a normative juridical approach. The results of the study show that Legal politics has a big role in law enforcement, often in enforcing the law the role of politics is not applied properly, where law enforcers prioritise the interests of political elites. The impact of legal politics on law enforcement has a negative impact on society and the justice system. The law should be enforced based on the principles of justice, without political interference or involvement. Law enforcement officers should not give different treatment to anyone because everyone has equal rights under the law.

Abstract

Law no. 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government provides a legal basis for the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) in supervising the performance of regional government. The Manokwari DPRD, as one of the legislative institutions at the regional level, has an important role in carrying out this supervisory task. This research aims to examine the implementation of the Manokwari DPRD's duties in monitoring regional government performance based on Law no. 23 of 2014. The research method used is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained through interviews with members of the Manokwari DPRD, document analysis, and direct observation of the Manokwari DPRD's work processes related to monitoring regional government performance. The research results show that the Manokwari DPRD has carried out its supervisory duties in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 23 of 2014. They supervise regional government performance through a number of mechanisms, such as commission meetings, plenary meetings, and examination of regional heads' accountability reports. They also play an active role in monitoring the use of regional budgets and evaluating regional government programs. However, there are several challenges in carrying out the supervisory duties of the Manokwari DPRD. One of them is limited resources, both in terms of manpower and budget. Apart from that, sometimes there are political obstacles that affect the independence of the DPRD in carrying out its supervisory function. Some DPRD members also face obstacles in accessing information needed for supervision. In the context of monitoring regional government performance, the Manokwari DPRD has great potential to increase accountability and transparency of regional government. To overcome the challenges faced, efforts are needed to strengthen the capacity of DPRD members, increase budget allocations, and ensure DPRD independence in carrying out supervisory duties. Apart from that, good cooperation between the DPRD and regional governments in providing access to the necessary information is also important. In conclusion, the implementation of the Manokwari DPRD's duties in monitoring regional government performance is based on Law no. 23 of 2014 has been running well, although there are still several challenges that need to be overcome. With the right efforts, the Manokwari DPRD can play a more effective role in increasing accountability and transparency of local government and improving the quality of public services for the people of Manokwari.

Russia's military attack on the legal territory of Ukraine is considered to be a serious threat to the national interests of the countries on the European continent. This study uses a qualitative research method based on secondary data from various credible sources and the conceptual theory put forward by Alexander L. George (1971) as the first initiator of the Concept of Coercive Diplomacy. Therefore, this research raises the research question How does Britain apply British Coercive Diplomacy towards Russia as a Conflict Resolution effort?” and will be answered using the characteristics given by Alexander L. George in the concept of Limited Power in Coercive Diplomacy.

Abstract

With several current laws, legal protection is an attempt to safeguard the government or other authorities. Any person who works and is paid a salary or other sort of pay is a worker or laborer. Wages are the legal entitlements that employees and laborers have when they are paid by business owners or employers in the form of money. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 concerning Wages relates to legal protection for workers/laborers in setting the minimum salary for West Java province in 2023. The study's findings revealed that Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 concerning Wages—which serves as the basis for determining the minimum wage—does not include the survey known as the Decent Living Needs (KHL), which was formerly conducted annually as required by Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 21 of 2016 concerning Decent Living Needs but is now only reviewed every five (five) years. There will no longer be a KHL survey following the passage of Law Number 11 of 2020 about Job Creation in conjunction with Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 concerning Wages.
