Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of Mutala'ah, with a specific focus on the topic of Al-Babga', through the application of the Cooperative Script learning model. This study was conducted using a classroom action research design, which was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This study involved 24 students from class II-A at Galih Agung Private Junior High School, Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School. Data collection was carried out using learning outcome tests to measure understanding and activity observation sheets to assess student engagement and participation during the learning process. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the material. At the beginning of the study, the average student score was 51.4, and only 42% of students met the minimum mastery criteria. After the implementation of the first cycle, the average score increased to 59.5, with 67% of students achieving mastery. In the second cycle, the average score increased significantly to 75.2, while the proportion of students who achieved mastery increased to 92%. These results show that the Cooperative Script Model is very effective in improving students' understanding of Mutala'ah material. In addition to improving learning outcomes, the use of the Cooperative Script approach also encourages active student participation and promotes collaboration.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media has created new opportunities for innovation in language learning, including Arabic. TikTok, as a short-video platform, offers interactive and engaging features that have the potential to enhance students’ learning experiences. This study aims to identify effective strategies for Arabic language instruction through TikTok and to provide practical recommendations for teachers. The method used in this research is a literature review, examining various sources related to the use of social media in Arabic language education. The findings show that teachers play a crucial role in designing, managing, and evaluating TikTok-based learning. The method used in this research is a literature review, examining various sources related to the use of social media in Arabic language education. Seven key strategies can be applied, namely microlearning, creative repetition for vocabulary, gamification, digital storytelling, collaboration through duet and stitch, visualization of qawa‘id through simple animations, and motivational content. Although effective in increasing students’ motivation and engagement, the use of TikTok also faces challenges such as internet access, distraction, limited editing skills, and digital ethics issues. Therefore, TikTok is recommended as a supplementary medium rather than the main source of instruction.

Abstract

This study examines linguistic errors in Arabic writing skills among students of the Arabic Language Department at STAIN Mandailing Natal, Indonesia. The study aims to identify the types of common writing errors and their underlying causes by employing Interlanguage Theory and Error Analysis as its theoretical framework, with the objective of contributing to the improvement of Arabic language instruction. The findings reveal that students experience various errors in spelling, morphology, syntax, and sentence structure, with a noticeable influence of their first language (Indonesian) on their written production. These errors reflect systematic patterns rather than random mistakes, indicating incomplete mastery of Arabic linguistic rules. The study recommends the implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches, including contrastive analysis, reinforcement of grammatical competence, and contextualized writing practice, to enhance students’ Arabic writing proficiency.

Abstract

Mastering sentence word order is a fundamental aspect of developing Arabic composition skills, particularly for beginner-level learners. However, many Arabic writing instructors focus heavily on essay-based Insya’ exercises without first ensuring students’ proficiency in constructing grammatically sound sentences. This study examines the effectiveness of Sentence Word Order Manipulation as a pedagogical approach to improving students' coherence, fluency, and syntactic accuracy in Arabic writing. Conducted at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah, this qualitative study involved 30 second-year Ibtida’iyyah (2 Ibt) students with limited prior knowledge of structured Arabic composition. The research employed a classroom-based intervention, incorporating pre-test and post-test assessments, sentence arrangement exercises, classroom observations, and interviews with teachers and students. The findings indicate that structured sentence-building exercises significantly enhance students’ writing fluency, with post-test results showing an 80% improvement in sentence accuracy compared to the pre-test. Additionally, students reported increased confidence in writing, as the approach helped them internalize syntactic rules in a more practical and engaging manner. The study concludes that scaffolded learning models, particularly sentence order exercises, should be integrated into Maharah Kitabah instruction to strengthen students’ foundational composition skills before transitioning to paragraph and essay writing. Future research should explore the long-term impact of this approach on free composition skills and the potential use of technology-enhanced learning tools in Arabic writing instruction. Keywords: Arabic composition, sentence word order, pedagogical approach, Maharah Kitabah, second language writing.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the Think Pair Share (TPS) method on improving the writing skills (maharoh kitabah) of eighth-grade students at Ponpes Insan Mulia Punggur. The research background highlights challenges faced by students, such as low interest and active participation in learning writing skills. Using a quantitative experimental approach, 28 students were divided into an experimental class (using TPS) and a control class (without TPS). Data collection involved pretests, posttests, observations, and interviews. Results showed a significant improvement in the experimental class compared to the control class. In the experimental group, the average pretest score was 65.3 (57% mastery), increasing to 79.29 (93% mastery) in the posttest. Meanwhile, the control group’s average pretest score was 52.5 (14% mastery), rising to 61.42 (36% mastery) in the posttest. This aligns with previous studies demonstrating TPS's effectiveness in enhancing student learning outcomes

Abstract

Arabic language learning in the digital era presents both new challenges and opportunities that demand innovation in teaching methods. One approach considered effective is the Flipped Classroom model, which shifts the delivery of learning materials outside the classroom while focusing classroom time on interactive activities. This study aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing the Flipped Classroom model in Arabic language learning through a literature review. The study employs a qualitative method using library research techniques by reviewing relevant scholarly sources published in the last five years. The findings reveal that the Flipped Classroom model offers opportunities to enhance students' active engagement, facilitate flexible learning, and utilize various interactive digital learning resources. However, the implementation also encounters challenges such as limited technological infrastructure, digital literacy gaps, insufficient modern vocabulary standards, and risks related to digital security. The implications of this study highlight the need for strategies to strengthen digital competencies among teachers and students, as well as improving supporting infrastructure to optimize Arabic language learning based on the Flipped Classroom model.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the forms of anxiety and defense mechanisms experienced by the character "I" in the short story Wajh al-?aq?qah by Taufiq al-Hakim using a literary psychology approach, specifically Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory. The focus of this Research is on how anxiety and defense mechanisms emerge and play a role in shaping the inner dynamics of the main character. The method used is textual analysis by closely examining the narrative and dialogues that reflect the character's psychological conflicts. The findings reveal that the character "I" experiences three types of anxiety: realistic anxiety (identified in 5 sentences), neurotic anxiety (7 sentences), and moral anxiety (11 sentences). Furthermore, seven out of nine defense mechanisms proposed by Freud were found: repression (3 sentences), sublimation (6 sentences), projection (2 sentences), displacement (1 sentence), rationalization (5 sentences), reaction formation (2 sentences), and fantasy (2 sentences). Overall, the study shows that the character "I" undergoes a complex and layered internal struggle, as reflected through dominant forms of anxiety and a variety of defense strategies employed to maintain psychological stability.
