Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of youth in supporting participatory village governance in Kabanjahe Subdistrict, Karo Regency. The method used is a qualitative approach with case study techniques. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews and documentation studies. The data was analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that youth have a significant role. Specifically, youth in village governance can be agents of innovative change, as social control and village development, such as involvement in Musrenbangdes and economic development. However, this role is constrained by village cultural norms, village institutions, and limited formal participation spaces. The study concludes that there is a need for collective awareness of the potential of youth, the importance of institutionalizing youth participation in village government policy-making, and the need for an ecosystem that includes collaborative and affirmative approaches to the role of youth.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of lifestyle and well-being in Gili Air’s coastal community, North Lombok, driven by rapid tourism growth. Using a qualitative case study approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, it uncovers socio-economic change patterns. Findings show tourism has shifted livelihoods from traditional fishing and dryland farming to service jobs like homestays, tour guiding, and souvenir trading, boosting income, promoting modern consumption (gadgets and branded goods), and improving material well-being. However, this threatens local customs, social structures, and cultural values, seen in declining communal solidarity (gotong royong) and rising individualism, plus environmental strains from overdevelopment like land conversion and beach erosion, risking long-term sustainability. Referencing Jean Baudrillard, the study highlights the paradox: economic gains often foster illusory prosperity via symbolic consumption. Solutions involve multi-stakeholder collaboration based on local wisdom and participation to create inclusive policies for sustainable development, cultural preservation, and equitable benefits, ensuring modernization maintains ecological and social balance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the village government's administrative service system in Kota Sigli District, Pidie Regency, meets community needs. Quality administrative services are a key indicator in assessing the effectiveness of government administration at the lowest level, therefore, a study is needed to examine how services are implemented, the obstacles that arise, and possible improvements. This study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, using field research and literature review to obtain relevant data. The results indicate that administrative services in several villages are not yet optimal. The main obstacles identified include low levels of education and skills among village officials, a lack of understanding of administrative tasks, and limited facilities and infrastructure such as computers, stationery, and other supporting facilities. This situation impacts the slow service process and the failure to meet community service standards. Improvements can be made through increasing the capacity of village officials by considering educational qualifications in the selection process, providing administrative training, and providing adequate work facilities. Furthermore, the optimal utilization of village head offices needs to be strengthened so that administrative services can be more effective, focused, and sustainable, supporting better village governance. Abstract

Student organizations serve as crucial platforms for shaping students’ character, leadership, and social skills. However, despite their strategic roles, these organizations often face internal challenges such as interpersonal conflicts, differing opinions, and weak coordination. If left unaddressed, these issues can hinder the implementation of work programs and diminish members' enthusiasm for organizational involvement. Such challenges also threaten the sustainability and effectiveness of the organization itself. This study explores how conflict resolution processes are carried out within the Indonesian National Association of Students and Scholars in Aceh (PKPMI Aceh), and ideantifies both the supporting and inhibiting factors involved. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with five key informants, and organizational documentation. The findings reveal that problem-solving is primarily achieved through deliberation and consensus, emphasizing open communication and inclusive participation. Supporting factors include a strong sense of solidarity, participatory leadership, and an inclusive organizational culture. Conversely, the main obstacles involve lack of discipline, sectoral ego, and limited organizational experience. In conclusion, the effectiveness of conflict resolution in student organizations is strongly influenced by internal communication and collective commitment to resolving disputes with wisdom.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the character of students at Junior High School of As’adiyah, especially in the use of everyday language. The background to this research is based on the emergence of the phenomenon that a number of students are starting to get used to using rude and impolite language, which is thought to be the impact of gaming habits. To form good student character in communicating with teachers, efforts are needed to instill qur’anic values in a sustainable manner. The goal of this effort is for students to have a strong moral, so that they don’t just act politely in the school environment, but also able to apply the valuesthese in social life. This research uses Islamic Communication Theory with a living Qur’an approach, the values of the Qur’an are not only taught in the theory, but are familiarized in daily practice day. Through this approach, it is hoped that students will get used to communicating in polite and athical languageboth to teachers and to other people.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Islam, local cultural traditions, and ecotheological practices in community life, particularly in the context of efforts to preserve the environment. Human interaction with nature is inherently integral to meeting life's needs, but these practices often unwittingly damage ecosystems, such as tree felling, which causes floods and landslides. Nevertheless, some communities still uphold local wisdom values as a strategy for environmental preservation. The local Islamic perspective also provides a strong theological foundation for the importance of maintaining the balance of nature, reflected in the teachings of amanah (trust), the prohibition of destruction (fasad), and the obligation to provide benefits for all creatures. Through an integrative approach between Islamic teachings and local traditions, communities have developed an ecotheological model grounded not only in spiritual dimensions but also in socio-cultural practices such as forest protection, natural resource conservation, and the strengthening of ecological ethics. This study demonstrates that the combination of Islamic values and local wisdom has significant implications for shaping community ecological behavior and opens up significant opportunities for strengthening faith-based ecotheology in addressing modern environmental challenges.

Abstract

This research is based on the low level of community welfare and food security in Lhokseumawe City, despite the area having great potential for beef cattle farming. Mawah cattle is one of the traditional livestock systems that still exist in the community, which is a profit-sharing cooperation pattern between livestock managers and capital owners. However, this system has not been systematically managed to date, lacks strong institutions, and has not been integrated with local economic empowerment programs. This study aims to develop and test a mawah cattle-based economic empowerment model that is structured, participatory, and appropriate to the socio-economic conditions of the Lhokseumawe City community. It is hoped that the results will improve the welfare of livestock farmers and support sustainable food security that relies on local resources. An associative quantitative method with a survey was conducted on one hundred mawah cattle farmers. To determine the relationship between farmer participation, economic welfare, and household food security, analytical techniques such as Pearson correlation and multiple regression were used. Before being used to collect data, the instrument was tested for validity and reliability.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the education policies behind the development of Sekolah Rakyat for deprived groups and Sekolah Garuda, which was established as a model of elite schools in several regions. It examines the impact of these two policies through the theoretical perspectives of Tan Malaka and Michel Apple, both of whom criticize education as often being non-neutral, excluding the poor through systems that differentiate individuals based on social class and creating “favorite schools.” Such practices indirectly lead to unequal educational distribution between schools. This study uses a qualitative research method with a literature review approach, drawing from previous studies and official data from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Affairs, and Statistics Indonesia. The findings show that education indirectly produces social exclusion for deprived communities, evident in the differing goals, visions, curricula, and admission processes between Sekolah Rakyat and Sekolah Garuda. The development of these school’s neglects improvements in access to education for economically and demographically excluded populations. The study offers solutions for creating an inclusive and equitable education system, ensuring all communities receive fair and adequate educational opportunities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of deradicalisation policies carried out by the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) on former terrorist convicts in Makassar City. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive design, data was collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including the BNPT team, former terrorist convicts, and other relevant institutions. The findings show that the BNPT's deradicalisation policy is implemented in three main stages, namely national insight, religious insight, moderation, and entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurship programme is at the core of this policy, with the aim of increasing the economic independence of ex-terrorists after their release from prison. In addition, this study found significant challenges in terms of coordination between the institutions involved, budget constraints, and social acceptance of the ex-terrorists. Nevertheless, the deradicalisation programme has succeeded in reducing the potential for ex-terrorists to re-engage in radicalisation, especially with the support of the local community. Based on these findings, it is recommended to strengthen regional regulations and improve coordination between relevant institutions in order to improve the effectiveness of deradicalisation policies in the future.

Abstract

The film Dirty Vote 02 is a critical way of talking about politics that shows disagreement with the narrative of one regime in the current Indonesian public space. The purpose of this research is to see how the film uses narrative, visual, and symbolic strategies to construct a counter-discussion about the hegemony of power. Based on Norman Fairclough's model for critical discourse analysis, the approach used is qualitative and focuses on the relationship between language, ideology, and power. The results indicate that Dirty Vote 02 film is an alternative media that seeks to revive communicative rationality (Habermas) through the dissemination of rational data and arguments and simultaneously cracks the ideological hegemony of the regime (Gramsci). This film serves as an alternative public space where people can reassess the legitimacy of power and restore critical thinking about dominant political discourse. And this film can also serve as a form of political education for the public and as a reference for analyzing symptoms or events related to politics, policy, governance, and broader societal issues, which today are mostly presented through a single discourse or narrative by various anti-mainstream media in Indonesia. Therefore, this documentary film can be used strategically as a symbolic tool to challenge the dominance of national discourse and to strengthen deliberative democracy this Indonesia.
