Abstract

Many women do not continue their education due to patriarchal paradigms within their families and society, as well as economic constraints. However, higher education is a space for women to actualize themselves, improve their competencies, and strengthen their relationships in order to face future challenges. This study aims to observe and investigate how women fight for their educational rights and apply their knowledge in various situations. This study focuses on the perspectives of young women and parents in Liman Benawi as primary data. The results of this study indicate that first, women's persistence in communicating and negotiating with parents about education and the future serves as an effort to raise parents' awareness of the positive impacts of education. Second, those from disadvantaged families must take on the consequences of working part-time or seeking scholarships. Third, educated women ultimately have many opportunities to secure employment, activate family education for their children, and bring about social-cultural and socio-economic impacts. Therefore, to reduce pressure on others rural women, affirmative policies such as special scholarships for rural women from poor families are needed as a means of reducing financial barriers. Additionally, mentoring programs involving successful women from diverse backgrounds can serve as both inspiration and role models in fostering educational aspirations. Integrating a gender equality perspective into village development planning can also be a long-term strategy for transforming the deeply rooted social and cultural structures that perpetuate gender bias.

Also, a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.7 was obtained which revealed that the findings reveal that while showed that the instrument was reliable. Findings revealed that female students were highly engaged in the use of technology for educational purposes. However, ease of use of digital learning platforms, technical support, peer influence, instructor support and accessibility are key factors in their decision to use digital learning platforms for learning. Also, digital learning platforms enhance the students' learning experience, while encouraging self-paced learning among others, which formed the basis of the conclusion of the study. As such, emphasising the need for targeted strategies that foster an inclusive digital environment and bridge the technology access gap remains germane to progressive access.

Abstract

Islamic texts that talk about fulfilling the obligation to serve husbands for wives are often understood biasedly by couples, and even seem to ignore the protection of wives' reproductive rights. Husbands often do not understand the condition of their wives, which often results in unilateral prosecution of rights by arguing that the wife is a sin if she does not serve her husband, under any circumstances. Several existing texts are used to reinforce this attitude. This is different from Kyai Husein Muhammad, who has another opinion, that the wife has the right to refuse sexual relations. Here it appears as if there is a paradox and conflict in the interpretation of religious texts. This article analyzes Kyai Husein Muhammad's perspective in interpreting religious texts with the aim of providing protection for wives' reproductive rights in the family. This article is the result of normative legal using primary data sources with interviews with Kyai Husein Muhammad and primary legal materials: Kyai Husein Muhammad’s books. This article produces several points: first, Kyai Husein Muhammad's istinbāṭ law regarding the reproductive protection rights of wives which focuses on the hadith of the wife's refusal to have sexual relations with her husband, which needs to be underlined, namely do not stop in a statement, and always ask again in the statement, don't easily satisfied with a statement. Second: Kyai Husein Muhammad's current thoughts about wives being allowed to refuse sexual relations are relevant because they offer protection to the wife's rights in marriage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of empowering women who work as halal assistants at LP3H UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Women's participation and gender equality that places women in a position equal to men are an important part of the success of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program including women's empowerment and economic independence. The method used in this research is field research (faild research) with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation about halal assistance and halal women assistants at LP3H UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The results of this study indicate that in the midst of a patriarchal culture that is still rooted in Indonesian society, women who work as halal assistants are able to survive and there are even practices of women's empowerment, this is indicated by cooperation, collaboration, and even mutual support between female assistants. The formation of an organization/community as a forum for halal assistants is very influential on the productivity of assistance carried out by women. In addition, the factor of strategic positions filled by women both as chairman / management of communities such as Pumikop and Forkom (Communication Forum) UMKM makes women more active and productive in providing assistance to business actors

Abstract

Women with disabilities are often victims of discrimination and are even more marginalized compared to men with disabilities. The double burden represents a severe challenge experienced by women with disabilities. This study aims to (1) explore the double burden faced by women with disabilities and (2) identify appropriate coping strategies. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review, with women with disabilities as the primary focus. Following the inclusion process and quality appraisal (Appraising the Quality of Studies), a total of 19 studies were reviewed. The findings indicate that (1) the double burden experienced by women with disabilities arises from sociological pressures (family, community, and government policies) and psychological burdens in the form of emotional responses (feelings of worry, loneliness, and self-isolation) triggered by these sociological pressures. (2) The coping strategies that can be employed include emotion-focused coping and problem-focused coping. Another finding highlights the need for further research using quantitative methods to obtain more concrete results regarding the double burden of women with disabilities. The results of this study may serve as a foundation for more in-depth and representative research on the double burden faced by women with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of female religious teachers in addressing women's issues in border areas, with a focus on Gampong Jawa, Kejuruan Muda District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. This area is a strategic border region vulnerable to external cultural influences and marked by various socio-religious issues, such as low Quran literacy, early marriage, and limited understanding among youth regarding Islamic law. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the presence of female religious educators significantly contributes to enhancing women’s understanding of Islam through Quranic study sessions, Quranic Education Centers, and other religious activities. Da'iyah are able to become figures accepted by the community in fostering the religious education of mothers and children, especially in terms of Quran literacy. Supporting factors include the personality of the da'iyah, the depth of their religious knowledge, as well as community support and the existence of religious study groups. Constraining factors include patriarchal culture, time constraints and mobility limitations of da’iyah, and insufficient oversight from the Islamic Sharia Department. This study emphasizes the importance of optimizing the role of da’iyah in border areas to strengthen Islamic da’wah responsive to women’s issues, as well as the need for sustained structural support from the government and society.

Abstract

The organisation of Umrah pilgrimages in Indonesia in recent years has shown a significant increase in the number of female pilgrims compared to male pilgrims. This situation has created specific needs in terms of religious guidance, particularly with regard to the biological, psychological and social aspects experienced by female pilgrims. However, the reality on the ground shows that the number of female religious guides is still limited and their role has not yet been fully recognised structurally within the Hajj and Umrah management system. This study aims to analyse the role of women as umrah pilgrimage guides (muthowwifah) and examine the challenges and opportunities from a gender perspective in hajj and umrah management. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation of muthowwifah and female pilgrims who received direct guidance. The organisation of Umrah pilgrimages in Indonesia in recent years has shown a significant increase in the number of female pilgrims compared to male pilgrims. The results of the study show that: (1) muthowwifah play a strategic role, not only in providing technical guidance on worship, but also in providing moral support, motivation, and assistance with issues specific to women's worship, such as menstrual management during Umrah; and (2) muthowwifah face a number of challenges, including strong gender stereotypes, limited access to professional training and certification, and the lack of formal recognition of the profession. This study recommends strengthening affirmative policies through continuous training, professional certification, and the integration of a gender perspective in hajj and umrah management. The novelty of this study lies in its affirmation of the role of women as strategic actors in hajj and umrah management oriented towards gender justice.

Abstract

The debate regarding gender justice in inheproporitance law arises from differing concepts, namely proportional distribution (2:1) as applied by some laws, while other laws adhere to the principle of equality (1:1). This study aims to analyze both concepts from the perspective of gender justice, while assessing their relevance in the modern social context. The method used is a literature study with a normative-comparative approach, which compares provisions from various legal systems, such as Islamic law, civil law, customary law, and court decisions, and analyzes them through the theory of gender justice and the maqāṣid al-syarī'ah framework. The results of the study show that both concepts have their own contextual justice. Proportionality is more appropriate when the responsibility for maintenance is entirely borne by men, while equality is more appropriate in situations where men and women both play a role in the family economy. This study confirms that gender justice in inheritance law cannot be understood absolutely, but must be viewed relatively in accordance with social realities and the configuration of roles within the family. The impact of this study is to provide a more neutral and comprehensive insight for the development of inheritance law studies within the framework of gender justice. Abstract

The hadith narrated by Abu Bakrah, which states that “a nation that entrusts its affairs to a woman will never prosper,” has long been interpreted as a theological prohibition against women’s leadership in Islam. This interpretation persists despite significant changes in social structures and the increasing visibility of women in strategic leadership positions. This study seeks to reassess the normative status of this hadith by examining whether it represents a timeless religious injunction or a context-specific statement. Drawing on Fazlur Rahman’s double movement hermeneutics, the research employs a two-tiered analytical approach. The first movement situates the hadith within its socio-political context, particularly in relation to the aftermath of the Battle of the Camel and the decline of the Persian Empire. The second movement extracts the ethical values embedded in the hadith and reinterprets them in light of contemporary realities, emphasizing the principles of justice, merit, and public accountability. The findings indicate that the hadith was primarily a situational response to political instability rather than a categorical rejection of female leadership. Literalist interpretations tend to obscure the ethical intent of prophetic traditions and reinforce patriarchal biases that are inconsistent with the Qur’anic vision of justice and equality. This study concludes that a contextual and ethical reinterpretation of the hadith aligns more closely with Islamic moral philosophy and fosters a more inclusive theological discourse that recognizes and affirms the leadership potential of women in modern Muslim societies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns of silencing and the impacts of revenge porn, as well as why victims of revenge porn choose to remain silent. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, conducted in Banjarmasin City. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis followed Moustakas' phenomenological analysis technique, consisting of epoche, phenomenological reduction, imaginative variation, and synthesis of meanings. The subjects of this study comprised five individuals selected through purposive sampling based on several criteria: female, aged 18–25 years, having experienced revenge porn, and residing in Banjarmasin City. The findings reveal that the silencing experiences of revenge porn victims involve threats, blackmail, and the dissemination of pornographic content. Additionally, the impacts felt by victims include trauma and depression. The reasons victims choose to remain silent are fear of disclosing their experiences and low self-esteem. Social support for victims emerges as a crucial factor in helping them recover from distress.
