Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the impact of whole-brain learning and a multi-sensory environment on developing cognitive abilities in early childhood. Method: This research method uses a quantitative, quasi-experimental approach. The State University of Malang Laboratory Kindergarten's classes B and C served as the population for this study. The sample was determined by purposive sampling, so there were 60 children. We carried out the data collection process in this study using observation and closed interviews. We conducted observations to evaluate children's cognitive science abilities, encompassing information processing, intelligence, reasoning, language development, and memory. We used closed-ended interviews to measure the children's visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles. We processed the data using the SPSS 17.0 program, which included a validity test to determine the product moment, a reliability test with alpha Cronbach, a normality test with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, a homogeneity test with the Levene test, and hypothesis testing to test a two-way ANOVA. Results show a positive relationship between cognitive science development and learning preferences in children's learning styles, whether visual, audio, or kinesthetic. Novelty: This research can improve children's effective recall of information and open opportunities for more inclusive and adaptive learning according to each child's cognitive needs. Therefore, further research in this area has the potential to shape educational practices that are more effective in recognizing the development of cognitive science in children's learning.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to test the effectiveness of an e-book on the ethno-conservation of agricultural land in Sidoarjo for teaching students critical thinking skills in environmental conservation material. Critical thinking ability is one of the higher-order thinking skills in Bloom's taxonomy and needs to be applied in the learning process. Critical thinking skills need to be trained in students to solve problems in their environment. Method: The method used in this study is a one-group pre-test and post-test design with 15 students from the science program. The e-book had already undergone feasibility and practicality tests before being implemented in the learning process. The effectiveness test consisted of 5 multiple-choice questions and six essay questions tested for feasibility. Data processing was done using Ms. Excel and SPSS. Results: The Wilcoxon test results showed that using the e-book oriented towards the local wisdom values of Sidoarjo in environmental conservation material affects teaching students critical thinking skills. Novelty: The results of this research can be used as a reference for learning media integrated with local wisdom values to teach students critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the correlation between servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. Method: The results of this investigation were confirmed by employing a statistical survey approach. The structural equation model's PLS-SEM method for prediction was used to generate the values of the latent variables. The research sample comprised nineteen principals and two hundred thirty-one elementary school teachers from the Ciwandan sub-district of Cilegon City in Banten Province. Results: Structural model statistical studies show a positive relationship between servant leadership and supervisory competence. Supervision competency and school quality are not positively correlated. Servant leadership is positively correlated with teacher performance, and teacher performance is positively correlated with school quality. Novelty: The novelty of this research is that there are differences in emphasis, research participants, and integration of research components compared to other research. This study introduces novel research integrating servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. This innovative research integrates multiple variables into a single unit for investigation and analysis.

Abstract

Objective: Design thinking is one of the methods used to carry out the design process. So, in solving this design problem, design students, especially Graphic Design students, should carry out the stages of design thinking for the work design process. The measurement of design thinking ability is a written exam to get a standardized assessment. This Research aims to describe the development of a design thinking test instrument for graphic design students. Method: The design thinking test instrument consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. After the questions were completed, five experts validated the question. The results of content validation to five experts were analyzed using the Content Validity Ratio. The question was then tested on 30 Unesa Graphic Design students. The results of each question item were tested for validity through the Rasch model with the STATA Program and ConQuest. Results: To test the reliability of the instrument using Cronbach Alpha. The result is CVR scoring between 0.500 and 1.000, and the alpha Reliability value exceeds 0.881. The results of the total item correlation test vary from -0.0391 to 0.465, while the INFIT MNSQ value of the Rasch model starts with a value of 0.500 to 1.300. Novelty: It is concluded that the written test assessment instrument is empirically valid, so the design thinking skills assessment instrument is feasible to use.

Abstract

Objective: Seventh-grade students often need help to grasp the concepts of area and perimeter, particularly when applied to real-world problems requiring critical thinking. This difficulty highlights a need for engaging and effective teaching resources beyond traditional methods. Method: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model to design, develop, and evaluate a GeoGebra-based teaching module explicitly targeting the area and perimeter of quadrilaterals. The module, designed to foster critical thinking, underwent rigorous validation by media and material experts before being tested for practicality and effectiveness with seventh-grade students. Result: The GeoGebra-based teaching module was valid and practical, receiving high scores from expert evaluations and user feedback. More importantly, the module's implementation positively impacted students' critical thinking skills related to area and perimeter, as evidenced by significant improvement between their pre-intervention and post-intervention assessments. Novelty: This study provides valuable evidence for the efficacy of GeoGebra-based teaching modules in significantly improving critical thinking skills within a specific mathematical context. It addresses a critical gap in existing educational resources by offering a validated, practical, and effective tool that can be adapted to elevate mathematical understanding and cognitive skills in middle school education

Abstract

Objective: This research examines the principal's strategy for building superior schools and how superior school service systems are built. Method: This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with a case study type and a multisite study design, where data collection uses in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The analysis uses data display, reduction, drawing conclusions, and verification. The subjects of this research were student guardians, administrators, school principals, and teachers. It was conducted at two Islamic boarding school-based private junior high schools in Lamongan Regency. Results: The principal's strategic management begins with a) School Self-Evaluation, strategic planning, strategy implementation, and strategy monitoring and evaluation; b) Formulating the Vision, Mission, and Goals of educational institutions involving all elements; c) Developing the quality of education begins with organizing teacher human resources starting from recruitment strategy, career development, improving welfare, further education as well as providing rewards and punishments, d) Creative and innovative learning management by the concept of an independent curriculum which is also modified with Islamic boarding schools curricula such as reciting the yellow book, tahfidz Qur'an program, and Dauroh, e) management of infrastructure facilities Novelty: The school principal's leadership strategy management will be effective if it is adjusted to the targets. This research is a community with a Santri background, so effective management of superior schools must also be based on Islamic boarding schools.
