Abstract

The study determined the impact of the STEM Strand implementation of senior high schools in the Division of Zambales. The study was limited to fifty secondary public-school teachers in Zone II.The study revealed that majority teacher-respondents, are generally young with only a minimum number of trainings attended. STEM trends, there were more males than females and a larger are married. There were no significant differences in the success of the STEM schools in Palauig, Botolan and Iba in the following domains:college preparation;integrated and innovative technology use; STEM-rich informal experiences; connections with industry and the world of work; well-prepared STEM teachers and professionalized teaching staff and positive school community and culture of high expectations for all. Based on the summary of findings and the conclusions arrived at, the researcher has offered the following recommendations that professional learning in the form of learning action cells and lesson study should be provided to relatively novice STEM teachers in order to expose them to effective instructional strategies and impact their actual classroom practices as opposed to cascading in-service trainings. Greater involvement of these partners through planning, implementation, and review should be targeted instead of only involving them for immersion activities. A more intensive evaluation of the STEM implementation following the Context-Input-Process-Product approach should be conducted to strengthen and confirm the findings of the study. A more study that would monitor the whole system as opposed to the present investigation’s focus on teacher perception would lend greater credence to the results.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the relationship of Science teachers’ teaching styles and the students’ learning styles and academic performance. The study was conducted among the public secondary school in Subic, Zambales during the academic year 2018 – 2019. The descriptive survey research design was used where the teaching styles of eighty-five teachers and six hundred high school students. Data were analyzed using the percentage, mean and chi square test. The findings of the study revealed that the science teachers are adults with the most of them are female. The students are teenagers mostly male in Grade 8. The teaching styles of the science teachers is of a formal authority and the learning styles of the students is generally visual. The academic performance in science is satisfactory. The teaching styles of the teachers was dependent on education, field of specialization, length of service. The learning styles of the students were not dependent significantly on their age and year level. The learning styles of the students were significantly dependent on teaching styles of their science teachers and the academic performance of the students significantly dependent on the teaching styles of the science teachers. The academic performance of students are significantly dependent on their learning styles. With these findings and conclusions follow up studies exploring other factors affecting the performance level of the students in Science is recommended as well as the effectiveness of the various teaching styles and learning styles to promote learning and better understanding in the subject must be conducted.

Abstract

Emerging Technology Trends in Education is defined as those technologies that represent new and significant developments in the field like the Internet of Things (IoT), Education 4.0 which uses the Blending Learning, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality. In this time of Pandemic there are lots of challenges encountered like we cannot conduct a face to face classroom instruction and even the simulation of activities. Educational courses that require laboratory of simulation of activities is the biggest challenges because students are having hard time in understanding the practical real-time applications. In this time of Pandemic the evolution of Emerging Trends in Education helps a lot because it’s characteristics to adopt the requirements as required by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (IATF.)The purpose of the study is to help and strengthen the role of the Emerging Trends in our Education amidst the Pandemic and to help our Educational Sector boost up the level of education in the new Normal Approach and schools will be able to adapt these emerging technologies specially in this time of a pandemic. In conclusion Emerging Trends plays a vital role because majority of the educational sector are now using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in their practical laboratory exercises while at home.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the challenges in gender mainstreaming in the Department of Education. The study made use of descriptive research design with the aid of questionnaires the main instrument in gathering the data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study revealed that a typical respondent was in their middle adulthood aged thirty-one to forty, majority were female, most have rendered zero to four years in service, more than half of the public secondary teachers are Teacher I, and most of the public secondary teachers attended three to five numbers of relevant training on gender mainstreaming. The public secondary teachers identified that the security, health and other student services was moderately serious problem while facilities, administration, instruction and curriculum was not a problem. There was a statistically significant difference on the problems encountered by the public secondary teachers on the gender mainstreaming implementation in terms of administration and curriculum when grouped according to age and number of relevant training attended on gender mainstreaming. There was a statistically significant difference on the problems encountered by the public secondary teachers on the gender mainstreaming implementation in terms of instruction when grouped according to number of relevant training attended on gender mainstreaming. There was a significant difference on the problems encountered by the public secondary teachers on the gender mainstreaming implementation in terms of facilities when grouped according to sex, length of service and number of relevant training attended on gender mainstreaming. There was a significant difference on the problems encountered by the public secondary teachers on the gender mainstreaming implementation in terms of security, health and other student services when grouped according to sex and number of relevant training attended on gender mainstreaming. Abstract

Senior citizens are an important sector in society. Some began their new career during the middle age and many continued a long legacy of productivity and passionate social service living a life of commitment. The aims of the study is to assess the senior citizen’s health and social services in Cebu City. The study uses quantitative and qualitative methods. A statistical computation was used to achieve an acceptable accuracy of findings and the qualitative research double-checks the quantitative research. Furthermore, the qualitative method was used to measure the data since it allowed the participants to give in-depth, detailed answers by personal interview. The Researchers explored the participant’s answers, thus clearing any ambiguity before analyzing and publishing the collected data. The study revealed that the level of implementation of social services for senior citizens was well implemented; The level of perception of health services for senior citizens were provided; The management of senior citizens office has the biggest financial appropriation; that there was no correlation between social services and the perception level since both were labeled not significant. To address the gap a substantial budget shall be allocated to the sixty (60) barangays of Cebu City to be incorporated in OSCA budget. A development plan was proposed as the output of the study.

Abstract

This classroom-based action research aimed to improve the performance of the challenged learners in Physical Science. The combination of Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) with the aid of Google Classroom was employed as an innovation to help the respondents master the competency-based skills that they were not developed during regular classroom teaching. In a combination of qualitative and quantitative designs, this research employed observation and participation, survey, and content-based assessment as data-gathering instruments. There were 40 identified challenged learners selected purposively (10 students for each of the four sections) based on their achievement scores after the long quiz, who took part in the study. The quantitative data were processed through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), while the obtained qualitative data were interpreted using the phenomenological methodology. Results revealed an increase in the performance level of the challenged learners based on the increase of the mean percentage score of the posttest. Additionally, it showed that SIM promotes learning retention based on their scores in the delayed-posttest, and Google classroom motivates their learning intention towards the subject, Physical Science.

Abstract

Development of food security has a strategic meaning in development in an area through its human resources, in accordance with Constitution number 18 of 2012 concerning food, that the provincial, district / city and / or village governments determine the type and amount of certain food reserves according to the consumption needs of the local community. The Human Development Index (HDI) also states that three factors determine the Human Development Index, namely education, health, and economy, so the quality of human resources is very influential and has an important role in developing and managing food so that a synergistic relationship between various aspects of the food security development in a region is needed. In this study, improving the quality of human resources in the city of Semarang in terms of the Anthropological Study of Law on food security, the method used through a normative juridical approach that is the law conceptualized as a normative symptom in legislation with the legal anthropological approach, the population in this study is the Department of Agriculture Semarang City with samples of food products in improving the quality of its human resources The results of this study comes through the Empirical Legal Anthropology approach, the support of strong and effective food institutions can spur growth, development and improvement of food, the nutritional status improvement of the community is very influential in improving the quality of human resources in increasing intelligence and the performance of human resources in determining future growth as one of strengthening local food security in the city of Semarang. With the availability of high quality human resources characterized by a strong physical, strong mental, excellent health and mastering science and technology can support the development of the city of Semarang.

Abstract

Physical culture can be understood as objects created by human beings which are an embodiment of the growth and development of cultural values ​​in a particular society, in the form of buildings that have been designated as cultural heritage buildings in the city of Semarang. The building is the Semarang Sobokartti building on Jalan Dr. Cipto Semarang, which is a reflection of the development of humans to always preserve culture both Javanese culture and western or European culture The approach used in this research is an empirical approach and a comparative approach to law anthropology. In an empirical approach, the sobokartti building is a physical culture which is a historic building that accommodates traditional arts which are closely related to Javanese culture, namely karawitan training, puppetry routine, puppetry courses, host courses, dancing courses and batik training. It should be appreciated because the community can maintain its preservation until now by showing the existence of Javanese culture with a love for culture that deserves to be preserved and for the nation's successor generation. Likewise with a comparative approach, it is said that the existence of physical culture in the sobokartti building is expected by the government to have regulations on cultural heritage objects, namely historic buildings or ancient buildings of the Sobokartti Semarang building as outlined in the Cultural Heritage Law No. 11 of 2010 to protect cultural heritage buildings with the aim of preserving, utilizing, and maintaining the beauty of a cultural heritage building Sobokartti Semarang. Suggestions that will be used in this research that is the role of the Government and Society to maintain physical cultural wealth should be developed by the nation's next generation, with the utilization of the Sobokartti building can provide sustainable use. So that, the Government and the community have the desire to protect and preserve the function of the Sobokartti Semarang building.

Abstract

Pandemic and industrial revolution 4.0 made almost of all business activities and professional moved to digital way. People have to adapted to work with many innovations that emerged in the field of business which they work, including accountant. The era of digital disruption made the fundamental role of the accountant taken over by system or software. This phenomenon raises anxiety for a number of accountants, because their jobs are replaced by system, so companies can reduce the number of workers which classified as accountants. Whether the accountant will die along with the development of technological innovation? Certainly not. The purpose of this research is giving insight that accountants are required to be agile-learners who enrich skills with the aim of managing creativity and reasoning so that they are able to create infrastructure, platforms, and digital software that can control the automation in business. Using qualitative explanatory research method with literature review, observation, and interview, researcher found that the functional role of accountants is increasing, not only in financial reporting system proficiency, but especially in strategic business analysts with the help of business intelligence as the basis of decision making for business. Likewise technological innovation gave birth to another scientific field of business and accountant which enlarge job opportunities and threats as the results and implications. Keeping financial data and confidential information safe and secure should be the top priority for any business.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the variables that influence and determine the regional competitiveness of Meranti Islands Regency using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The research used primary data with questionnaire and interview with 40 respondents consisting of members of the Regency DPRD, sub-district heads, heads of government sections, socio-cultural and village community empowerment. The research consists of five institutional variables; socio-political, regional labor, economy, productivity and physical infrastructure. The results of regional competitiveness among sub-districts are economic variables in the Tasik Putri Puyu sub-district (0.475), Tebing Tinggi subdistrict’s physical infrastructure (0.373), labor and productivity of Pulau Merbau sub-district (0.216), Rangsang Pesisir Barat sub-district’s high cliff institutions (0.260) and Rangsang Pesisir sub-district’s social politics (0.333).
