Abstract

Virtual Laboratory Simulation (VLS) enhances student understanding, retention of concepts, and promotes active learning through direct visualization and manipulation of computer animations. This study aimed to develop a VLS with complementary manual for Grade 7 physics that can be utilized by the teachers to address the needs of the students in the new normal learning. The developed VLS is composed of a Teacher’s Instructional Manual and Student’s Learning Manual. The study used Research and Development approach with the ADD (Analysis, Design, and Development) model as the instructional method. These allows the researchers to analyze the need of VLS, identify the design of VLS, and develop the VLS. The VLS was evaluated based on the content quality with a mean of 4.68, technical quality with 4.65, and instructional quality with 4.57. The results for the complementary activity manual in terms of the content quality is a mean of 4.62, the technical quality with 4.54, and the instructional quality with 4.55. The result showed that the developed VLS together with the complementary activity manual satisfied the quality components and attained the intended standards. It is recommended that evaluation of the effectiveness of VLS through pilot tests in public and private schools.

Abstract

For the last two years, all Philippine educational institutions had to adapt flexible learning. All personnel and students underwent orientation and training to their institution’s Management Information System (MIS). These institutions are utilizing either MIS mandated by the Department of Education, subscribed to or created by the institution itself. Challenges and concerns have been noted on the use of these MIS worldwide. Hence, this study elucidated the experiences and challenges of admistrators, faculty and students with their existing MIS among public and private educational institutions in the Philippines. Using a qualitative comparative case study design, the researchers draw the experiences of the participants on their existing MIS. The findings of the study revealed three main themes on the experiences of the participants with their existing MIS: excellent way to systematize and organize, a work in progress and encompassing of all institutional services. On the resolution of concerns and challenges with their MIS, prevailing themes were: having an efficient and expert Information Technology (IT) team, continuous feedback and improvement, and unresolved due to poor internet connectivity. As to how these challenges affected their performance, themes clustered on: improved and more efficient, negatively affected output and efficiency, and unaffected. This study highlighted the importance of proper orientation and training of all personnel and students, for an effective MIS which must be managed by an expert IT team. Despite the challenges encountered, the use of the MIS led to the better performance of the participants’ duties and responsibilities.

Abstract

This study is titled the progress of speech production in people with autism (case study in a girl named Aliya Salsabila Ramadhani). The study was conducted by Mu'thia Mubasyira, Zainal Rafli and Endry Boeriswati. To correspond the email used is muthiamubasyira_9906921003@mhs.unj.ac.id and the orchid number is 0000-0002-4084-3382. This study was conducted with the aim to find out how the progress of speech production in people with autism with the object of research on a girl named Aliya Salsabila Ramadhani who is now 9 years old. This study tried to analyze the primary data obtained by explaining the progress of language and Aliya speech production from the age of 3 months old until now. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods that seek to describe the progress of Aliya language and speech production with a short narrative and exposure to data retrieval techniques used through observation of video documentation of activities carried out and through questionnaires and interviews. In addition, this study also uses relevant references as study materials so that holistic and thorough discussion results are obtained. From the characteristics that seem to be known that Aliya is classified as experiencing mild austism. It is also obtained through the analysis of language development and how Aliya interacts with the environment and the surrounding people. Aliya also has abstinence from certain foods to suppress so that her behavior is not too hyper or excessive. Aliya's language progress and speech production made significant increasement after she received developmental therapy and speech therapy and attended a special needs school. This research is expected to add to the treasures of science, especially those related to psycholinguistics with the study of language development and speech production in people with autism.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess school leaders’ management of financial and resources in public elementary schools in District 18, Schools Division of Rizal, DepEd Region IV-A. This research study used descriptive-survey as the study’s research design. The respondents of the study comprised of teachers and school leaders. Findings of the study revealed that that majority are female, married, master’s degree holder, had an academic rank of Teacher I to Teacher III for teachers and appointed permanent principal for school leaders and in the service for more than 11 years. School Leaders’ Performance in Management of Finances and Resources in term of regular resource inventory was advance, while, regular dialogue for planning and resource programming and community-developed resource management system were developing. There is no significant difference on the assessment of school leaders’ management of financial and resources when grouped into school leaders and teachers. However, the researchers can infer that there is a significant difference on the scores of respondents on approved school operating budget and school inventory of resources. There is no significant difference on the assessment of school leaders’ management of financial and resources when compared into research survey results and SBM assessment of Region IV-A CALABARZON, Schools Division of Rizal. This study recommends an excellent financial plan that teachers and school heads collaborated in drafting it. This may plan according the management of finances and resources of the school

Abstract

The major concern of this study was to determine the impact of factors affecting teachers' performance of public elementary teachers. The study used the descriptive- correlational method of research in which standardized instruments were the primary data gathering tool. The study respondents were 166 or 55.41 percent of public elementary teachers in cluster A of the Division of Meycauayan City. The results of the study revealed that for the level of contributing factors in teaching performance, much contribution overall rating was obtained in the following factors: (1) Person-related factor, (2) School-related factor, (3) Learner-related Factor and (4) Community-related factor. Meanwhile, on the level of teaching performance, it was revealed based on the result of the study that the following factors were accomplished in terms of (1) Content, Knowledge, and Pedagogy, (2) Learning Environment and Diversity of Learners, (3) Curriculum and Planning, (4) Assessment and Reporting and (5) Plus Factors. The study's findings indicated that the contributing factors in teaching performance such as person-related Factor, school-related Factor, learner-related Factor, and community-related factor correlated to the level of teachers' performance in terms of the five key result areas. The findings of the analysis revealed that the null hypothesis is rejected; hence, the contributing factors significantly impacted teachers' teaching performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of Technology-Driven Intervention in improving science learning among Alegria National High School students at risk of dropping out. This study focused on two groups of twenty (20) Grade 8 Students at Risk of Dropping Out. Ten SARDOs served as the control group and received work text intervention, while the other ten SARDOs received technology-driven intervention. Both groups performed POORLY in Science knowledge at the start of the experiment, according to the results. T-test results also revealed that both the work text intervention and the technology-driven intervention were effective in the learning of SARDOs. The mean gain scores of SARDOs that used technology-driven intervention, on the other hand, were significantly higher. The study concludes that a technology-based intervention is more effective than a traditional intervention for students at risk of dropping out.

Abstract

The study revealed that the teacher-respondent is in her early adulthood, bachelors’ degree holder and attended few numbers of training relevant to teaching IP students. The teacher-respondents assessed “Always Practiced” on the dimensions of teaching Mathematics strategies among IP students. The students assessed “Always Practiced” on the dimensions of teaching Mathematics strategies among IP students. The IP students were rated “Satisfactory” in both Mathematics subjects Algebra and Geometry. There is significant difference on the perception towards dimensions on teaching Mathematics strategies for IP students between teachers and students. There is significant difference on the perception of the teacher-respondents while no significant differences to the students towards dimensions of teaching Mathematics strategies among IP students as to Creating Student’s Learning Environment Focused on Mathematics Goals, Providing Opportunities for Independent and Collaborative, Facilitating Mathematical Discussion, Using Appropriate Mathematics Language, connections, tools, and presentations, Developing and Using Teacher Knowledge to Initiate Learning and Assessing Student Academic Performance in Algebra and Geometry. The researcher offered the following recommendations based in the study that the school management is encouraged to organize an in-house teacher’s capability training in order to enhance motivational techniques and teaching strategies in Mathematics among IP students; the teachers are encouraged to be resourceful and creative in organizing the lesson in order to unlock the difficulty among the students in learning mathematics; the teachers are encouraged to conduct and in-depth study on the nature of the students and apply the learning activity and exercises based on their capability and competence.

Abstract

The suspension of conduct of face-to-face learning has shifted the Catanduanes State University (CatSU) to adapt flexible blended learning in delivering instruction and learning experiences to its students. As directed by the Commission on Higher Education, universities and colleges in the Philippines should adapt flexible blended learning. With limited training on blended learning, the CatSU faculty members are prone to some limitations and drawbacks while implementing the adapted Learning Delivery Modalities (LDMs). An investigation on the implementation of LDMs in CatSU revealed that faculty members used blended learning that is a combination of online synchronous or asynchronous classes to offline modular distance learning. The platform used by the faculty members in conducting synchronous classes were Zoom and Google Meet. On the other hand, the platform used in conducting asynchronous sessions was Google Classroom. While the adapted flexible blended learning of CatSU faculty members include online learning, a few faculty members reported that they had trouble in contacting their students since either the students don’t own mobile phones, or they don’t have phone signals at home. Some faculty members considered having not provided with internet service at school as a minor problem. Possible solutions for the different problems encountered by the faculty members have been recommended in this study.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the science inquiry-based practices, attitudes, and difficulties of secondary science teachers in the district of Masinloc, division of Zambales. The data gathered through the questionnaire were statistically treated with percentage, weighted mean, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). There is significant difference on the number of trainings towards origin of questioning, nature of problem, responsibility within the inquiry process, students’ diversity and variability and explanation of learning goals. There is significant difference on highest educational attainment towards explanation of learning goals and significant on sex towards origin of questioning. There is significant difference on the perception towards attitude on the use of inquiry-based teaching and learning when grouped according to highest educational attainment. There is significant difference on the number of trainings towards all dimensions of practices of science teachers exhibited components of scientific inquiry-based learning approach; The researcher recommended that the use of inquiry-based teaching and learning approach in teaching Science is highly encouraged in order to help the learners to overcome their problems in engaging with the lesson; that the teacher is encouraged to use the inquiry-based teaching and learning practices model to help them in attaining the consistency of the inquiry process within their lesson; and lastly a replication of this study is encouraged with in-depth and wider in scope so as to better determine the effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Teaching/Learning approach.

Abstract

This study was conducted to explore the experiences of novice teachers assigned in far-flung schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, anchoring on reflective practice guided by David Kolb's experiential learning theory. As a strategy to understand the experiences of novice teachers, the researcher employed mini-virtual ethnography by interviewing four novice elementary teachers teaching in schools located in mountainous areas through phone calls and messenger chat. The data gathered were analyzed using thematic analysis. Recorded interviews were transcribed, coded, and sorted to identify the different themes. The study revealed that teachers experienced challenging and fulfilling encounters on their journey. To cope with the challenges brought by the pandemic, the teachers find means to ensure that education continues amidst the crisis with the help of various stakeholders. Out of their experiences, teachers have gained a lot of realizations and aspirations for their students, parents, and self. They've seen that what they went through will help them become stronger, and there is still hope despite what is happening. By engaging in reflective practice, using Kolb's learning cycle, teachers could think and reflect on their experiences, learn from the experience, plan for a change, and improve their learning and instructional practices
