Research engagement in Philippine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is a pressing challenge. Despite its recognized importance for instructional innovations and institutional development, many faculty members avoid research, even when incentives are available. This qualitative-transcendental phenomenology explores and describes the experiences and insights of instructors on the factors affecting their research engagement. Through purposive sampling, specifically the criterion sampling technique, thirty-two (32) participants were selected from the four branches of Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC). The validated interview guide questions were used as the primary instrument in obtaining data through in-depth interviews and focus-group discussion, and the responses were thoroughly analyzed using thematic analysis. The significant factors identified by faculty were graduate studies and work responsibilities. Additionally, their lack of technical research writing knowledge contributed to their research limitations. Faculty members emphasized the need for ongoing research guidance, mentorship, and a wider range of incentives, such as integrating research into teaching loads, salary increases, and travel opportunities. Communication gaps between faculty and institutional research policies were evident, as some faculty members were unaware of the college's support. This study's implications stress the need for institutions to reconsider faculty workloads, offer additional training, and establish support systems that create a more research-friendly environment. Addressing these factors and expanding incentives can inspire faculty to participate in research activities, fostering a vibrant research culture and advancing knowledge within the academic community.

Level of satisfaction plays a crucial role in guiding the company through maintaining the loyalty of their registered retailers. This study was conducted to determine the level of satisfaction towards the services offered by Millennium Distribution System Incorporation (MDSI) among their registered retailers in Tangub City. A descriptive-quantitative research design was used. A total of 156 registered retailers using an adopted-modified survey questionnaire. The study was carried throughout the academic year 2024-2025 in the second semester. The findings revealed that registered retailers strongly agree with the services offered by the company, particularly ordering service quality and delivery service quality, which further implies a very high level of satisfaction. However, visual merchandising is the least factor that the registered retailers agreed, which further implies a high level of satisfaction. This implies that the services offered by the Millennium Distribution System Incorporation in Tangub City have their retailers’ interest in mind. The study concluded that all service factors contribute to retailer satisfaction and that the company’s sales agents and personnel are fulfilling their responsibilities effectively. These findings may assist MDSI in reinforcing its goal of delivering excellent and high-quality services to its registered retailers.

This study investigated the long-term sustainability of marriage in the Philippines, addressing a gap in local research on couples married for 25 years or more. Using a qualitative design with purposive sampling, interviews were conducted with five long-married Filipino couples (ten participants) to explore their reasons for marrying, their definition of marriage, the secrets to their longevity, and their marital satisfaction. Results demonstrate that the endurance of these unions is rooted in three key themes: commitment, tradition, and mutual reliance. The initial decision to marry was driven by love and the traditional desire to build a family before cohabitation. Participants uniformly defined marriage as a sacred, lifelong covenant and a commitment. The essential ingredients for sustaining high satisfaction were consistently identified as open communication, reciprocal respect, mutual support, and persistent effort. The study concludes that intentional commitment and the adherence to traditional family values are indispensable factors for the long-term survival and stability of these Filipino partnerships, despite shifting societal views.

This study examines the profiles of Department of Tourism (DOT) – accredited farm tourism owners and their enterprises in Cavite, providing one of the first empirical assessments of the financial and operational impacts of the COVID–19 pandemic on this niche tourism sector. Using interviews with six farm owners and managers, the study analyzed demographic characteristics – sex, age, civil status, educational attainment, and primary occupation – as well as enterprise attributes such as business type, years of operations, farm size, services offered, employee demographics, guest volume, and farm revenue. Descriptive statistics (frequency, mean, and percentage) were used in the analysis. Findings show a balanced gender distribution among owners, most of whom are married, have completed college, and engaged primarily in farming, with an average age of 55. More than half of the enterprises operate as corporations, have been in business for 10 years, and maintain an average farm size of 8 hectares. While pandemic restrictions limited operations to 30 percent capacity, the data reveal an overall increase in average revenue, suggesting adaptive income-generation strategies and resilience within the sector. The positive change can be attributed to a stronger strategic focus on educational tourism services and emerging digital marketing efforts in spite of the industry restrictions.

Economically, the sugarcane industry is one of the major sources of dollar income in the Philippines. It is planted in different types of soil, environments, and cultural management. Sugarcane is a voracious eater of fertilizer. The main purpose of innovating the fertilization activities in the farm is to increase production in order to sustain the sugarcane industry. The study aims to measure the fertilization innovations practice by the farmers that could affect the production of the sugarcane crop in the Philippines. The descriptive method was employed in the study. The instrument used was the validated survey questionnaire used by the group of Oñal in their study in 2021. The 320 sugarcane farmers were randomly identified at the seven locations in the Visayas area of the Philippines. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) implied that there’s a significant difference in the production of sugarcane among the different locations in the Philippines. Furthermore, the frequency of applying the fertilizers, the correct placement of fertilizers, maximizing the application of N and K elements, and the combo application of organic-inorganic fertilizers implied a high production respectively. The correct placement of fertilizers and the application of organic-inorganic fertilizers were strongly correlated with sugarcane production but moderately correlated with the level of N and P elements applied. The study revealed that fertilization innovations had a significant relationship in increasing the productivity of the sugarcane crop in the Philippines.

This study examined the communication challenges and macro skill proficiency of third-year Purposive Communication students at the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) during the first semester of SY 2024–2025. Using a descriptive-comparative-correlational design, data were collected from 152 students across four programs through using IELTS mock tests and researcher-made questionnaires. Findings revealed that students struggled most with understanding main ideas and inferencing, followed by critical thinking, lexical resource and vocabulary, reading strategies, and grammatical range accuracy. All macro skills were all at developing levels except viewing, which found to be in Good level; revealing listening to be the weakest and viewing as the strongest. There were significant performance differences found across paired macro skills with listening varying significantly among other macro skills and across paired programs with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering [BSCE] students performing the strongest and Bachelor of Engineering Technology Major in Mechanical Automotive Engineering Technology [BET-MAET] performing the weakest. The study found a significant correlation of about 47.9% variance showing that students who faced greater communicative challenges are also likely to have lower macro skill proficiency. Strategies employed in reading, critical thinking, and grammatical skills proved to have moderate effects on majority of the macro skills but proved to have very weak influence on reading, interestingly as it is also the least influenced skill.

This tracer study examined the career outcomes of Bachelor of Industrial Technology graduates majoring in Welding and Fabrication Technology (BIT-WFT) from Batangas State University for academic years 2021–2023. The study aimed to assess graduates’ demographic and educational profiles, employment outcomes, relevance of acquired competencies, and job satisfaction, with the end goal of proposing an action plan to improve employability. Data from 55 graduates revealed that most were male, aged 20–24, and had passed NC II and NC III certifications. The employment rate was 95%, with the majority securing jobs within 2–5 months after graduation, primarily in the non-government sector as pipe welders and fabricators. AG&P emerged as the leading employer, with typical monthly salaries ranging from ₱10,000 to ₱30,000. Respondents perceived their course, curriculum, and competencies as highly relevant to their employment, particularly problem-solving, critical thinking, and human relations skills. While most graduates expressed job satisfaction, salary and growth opportunities influenced their intent to stay or change jobs. The study concludes that the BIT-WFT program is generally effective in preparing graduates for industry needs but highlights areas for curriculum alignment, professional growth, and industry partnerships.

This quantitative descriptive study sought to establish the perceived competency and benefits of audio-visual resources (AVRs) among 60 President Ramon Magsaysay State University Social Studies teachers in Academic Year 2023-2024. The demographic profiles of the teachers, their use of AVRs, and the perceived effects on teaching efficiency, creativity, improvisation, and expressiveness were investigated. Data analysis indicated that the respondents were predominantly female, in middle adulthood, having a Master's degree, at the instructor rank, and with relatively new tenure. The findings indicated that the Social Studies instructors strongly agree that AVRs significantly enhance their teaching ability, creativity, improvisation, and expressiveness. Moreover, they demonstrated great confidence in their ability to select, prepare, and utilize AVRs correctly. Perceived benefits of AVRs were significantly influenced by academic rank and length of service but not by sex, age, or educational attainment. Conversely, perceived competence in AVR use was significantly influenced by sex, educational attainment, and academic rank but not by age or length of service. Recommendations to university administrators are to evaluate infrastructure for AVR capability, and to Social Studies teachers, perform AVR comparative studies and investigate the effect of self-assessed competence on student achievement. Future studies could examine the effects of demographic factors on AVR usage and perceived advantage and seek to find targeted areas of support to improve teaching efficiency.

The research, “The Power of Teaching Attitudes of Teachers and Students ‘Performance at Indanan National High School (Annex)” results showed that teachers in English, Mathematics, Science have very high teaching attitudes which were described as excellent along eight dimensions – clarity, enthusiasm, interaction, organization pace disclosure speech and rapport. Nevertheless, despite these favorable attitudes, academic performance in students was reported as being at a “Satisfactory” level and statistical analyses (t-test and ANOVA) found no significant correlation between teachers’ attitudes to teaching and student grades nor across subjects. The results imply that the impact of positive teaching attitude on a conducive learning climate may be overridden by other factors like instruction, students motivation to learn and home background in relation to their influence on academic achievement. In particular, it sought to investigate the teachers’ attitudes towards students as perceived by students themselves, to assess academic performance of the latter and to test the attitudes that teachers have towards their students whether they have a significant effect on students’ learning outcome. That is, it tried to measure the teachers’ attitudes towards students as perceived by their students, evaluate the learning performance of their students and test if the teachers’ attitudes toward students have an effect on the learning performance of these students.

Inclusive Education (IE) is a recognized right mandated by international and Philippine policies, requiring schools to accommodate learners with disabilities, including those with visual impairment (VI). Teachers play a vital role in implementing IE, yet their readiness, perceptions, and access to support systems shape the effectiveness of inclusive practices. This study aimed to investigate teachers’ perceptions, challenges, and support systems in handling a student with VI in a Teacher Education Institution (TEI) in northern Philippines. A qualitative-descriptive case study design was employed, involving 12 purposively selected teachers who had taught the student with VI in at least one semester. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions and analyzed thematically using Braun and Clarke’s (2012) framework. Ethical protocols such as informed consent and confidentiality were strictly observed. Findings revealed that teachers strongly valued inclusive education and emphasized empathy, patience, adaptability, and learner-centered approaches in teaching students with VI. They adopted flexible strategies such as tactile resources, auditory cues, and differentiated instruction. However, challenges included limited training in Braille and inclusive pedagogy, lack of accessible resources, barriers in assessment, and difficulties in creating safe and inclusive classroom environments. Despite these, teachers received support through collegial collaboration, peer assistance, expert guidance from SPED teachers and ECSNED department staff, family involvement, access to assistive technologies, and institutional measures such as inclusive classroom setups and alternative assessments. In conclusion, teachers demonstrated commitment and creativity in promoting inclusion but faced systemic gaps in preparation and resources. t.
