Abstract

Teachers nowadays are being challenged due to continuous decrease in the analytical and numerical ability of the students. Strategies were continuously studied by teachers to address such concern answering also questions such as how students perceived flipped classroom setting as an aid to the teaching learning process. This study utilized descriptive quasi-experimental design through 189 Grade 8 students where it had found out that in terms of the Pre-Assessment results, most of the students are in the “did not meet expectation” category but still are motivated in terms of Performance Task Making, Problem Solving, Classroom Participation and Examination. In terms of the post-assessment results, most of the students are in the “satisfactory” category and are highly motivated in terms of Performance Task Making, and motivated in Problem Solving, Classroom Participation and Examination. There is a significant improvement in the academic performance of the students where post-assessment results showed higher mean score than the pre-assessment results. There is a positive significant relationship between Performance and Level of Motivation. The main issues and concerns of the students in the implementation of flipped classroom is the slow internet connection at school and at home. Thus, concludes that indeed Flipped Classroom Learning is a way to better improve education identifying the effect on the academic performance and motivation of students in mathematics noting also that internet connection plays a crucial role in this type of learning setting.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the occupational stress and coping mechanisms among senior uniformed personnel in the Philippine National Police. This study employed the use of descriptive correlational research design utilizing survey methodology. Research locale was limited to Laguna. The respondents were the 100 senior uniformed personnel in the locale of the study and were selected using random sampling technique. The research instrument in this study was a survey questionnaire adopted from Juczyński & Ogińska-Bulik (2022). Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, rank order and Pearson-r. The study found that those who used adaptive coping strategies had lower levels of stress than those who used maladaptive strategies. The results also showed that those who used adaptive strategies had better mental health outcomes. Individuals who employed adaptive coping strategies experienced lower levels of stress compared to those who used maladaptive strategies. This highlights the importance of cultivating effective coping mechanisms to mitigate stress. The study indicates that the choice of coping strategies has a notable impact on mental health outcomes. Those who employed adaptive strategies reported better mental health, suggesting that the way individuals cope with stressors can have lasting effects on their overall psychological well-being. The findings support the promotion of adaptive coping mechanisms to enhance stress resilience. This could involve educational programs, workshops, or interventions aimed at equipping individuals with effective strategies to cope with stressors in healthier ways.

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of storytelling via phone calling strategy to improve the levels of reading skills of Grade 1 pupils at San Miguel Elementary School, Schools Division of Zambales during the School Year 2022-2023. Further delimitation included the following: (1) levels of reading skills based on pre-test and post-test results of reading inventory; and (2) significant difference in the reading levels of the learners in pre-test and post-test result of reading inventory. This research undertaking used the One-Group Pre-Test and Post-Test Experimental Design where a single group was measured or observed before and after the intervention program. After careful evaluation of parental consent and the willingness of the students to undergo intervention program, the researcher purposively selected twenty-eight students under “frustration reading level”. The study used a two-tailed Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test with an alpha level of 0.05. It means that there is a significant difference between learners’ reading levels in pre-reading and post-reading inventory indicating a positive effect of the intervention used to the learners in the “frustration reading level”. The marked increase of the performance of the Grade 1 pupils in the pre-test and post-test can be concluded that the intervention used came to play as factor. With that, storytelling via phone calling is effective and responsive as one of the strategies to use in reading. One of the recommendations is Storytelling via phone calling reading strategy could be used by other teachers also to improve the levels of reading skills of their learners as well, especially amidst pandemic where there is no face-to-face interaction between students and teachers.

Abstract

The policy regarding crop rotation is relatively new. However, this policy is still being debated, because it is not yet known that a consistent harvest rotation pattern has a significant effect on harvest premiums, FFB production and harvest employee income at PT Nusaina Agro Kobi Manise. This research aims to analyze the effect of 12/14 day harvest rotation and harvest premiums on FFB production and harvest employee income. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3.0 Software. The results of the research show the effect of implementing 12/14 day harvest rotation and harvest premiums on FFB production and harvest employee income. It is clear that implementing 12/14 day harvest rotation does not have a direct influence on FFB production and harvest employee income but the implementation of 12/14 day harvest rotation days have an indirect influence through harvest premiums on production and harvest employee income. The t-calculated path coefficient value of 12.140 is greater than the t-table value of 1.96 with a p-value of 0.00 which is smaller than 0.05 so that the variable implementing 12/14 day harvest rotation has a significant effect on the harvest premium variable. The specific indirect effect value of implementing a 12/14 day harvest rotation has an effect on the harvest premium and in turn has an effect on FFB production with a calculated t-value of 2.500 which is greater than the t-table value of 1.96 and with a p-value of 0.013 which is smaller than 0.05 so can be said to have a significant effect.

Abstract

The use of ukulele in school setting is becoming popular and its integration during classes is increasing in popularity. Because of this, it is significant and timely that this type of music be involved among learners of all ages. The consideration of providing support for mental and psychosocial well-being among the students during the past pandemic was deemed necessary. In this innovative work plan study, experimental-purposive approach was used in implementing the program. Integrating music in classes increases primary students' class involvement and engagement in school activities. Thus, the researcher introduced the Ukulele lesson to the Grade 3 pupils and tried to look into the effect of its integration to the pupils’ psychosocial development and academic performance. The participants were thirty-eight pupils (38) and eleven (11) MAPEH teachers for the school year 2022-2023 enrolled in an Integrated School in Pangasinan. The results revealed that there is an increase in the level of academic performance of the Grade 3 pupils who were exposed to ukulele lessons as an intervention program focusing on psychosocial support. The elementary teachers were also able to maintain classroom cohesiveness and increased pupils’ class participation. The noise from unnecessary talking and shouting or even playing inside the classroom were minimized. This is one proof that music is a great stress-relieving tool that helps to calm the mind and enhance concentration among pupils and teachers.

Abstract

Social enterprises strive to create social value by providing innovative solutions to various socio-economic and developmental problems. Given the harsh economic terrain, the key question is how these organizations traverse the path to financial sustainability to fulfil their social mission. Thus often challenged to either change scope or shut down. There is a dearth of research on micro-social enterprises and their strategies for financial sustainability. This study gathered data through an online survey platform from 121 social enterprises, which were more than 3 years of age based in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Further, crucial insights were obtained by analyzing this data using two statistical software: Jamovi and PROCESS Macro of SPSS for serial mediation. The findings demonstrate that growth orientation positively and significantly influences financial sustainability, both directly, and indirectly through; product & service innovation, social capital and external funding, which was observed individually and in serial mediation. Thus revealing that all these factors have partial mediation on financial sustainability. However, the influence of growth orientation with all these factors is way higher than it does individually. There are several crucial paths for financial sustainability, however, the most crucial one is when growth orientation is in tandem with product & service innovations. By harnessing the synergies between growth-oriented strategies and intermediary variables, social enterprises can navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and advance their dual mission of financial sustainability as well as their social mission.

Abstract

Reading has been capitalized in the education process. It has been put premium in the context of the learning recovery as the return of in-person of classes is observed. This action research aimed to examine the reading performance level of Grade One pupils of Camiing Elementary School before and after the employment of project RePACK (Reading Partnership between Challenged and Knowledgeable). This study further determined the aspects of the introduced intervention that facilitated their reading performance. The participants of the study were the 45 Grade one pupils of Camiing Elementary School School of Schools Division of Zambales in the school year 2022-2023. The data were gathered through a mixed method. The qualitative part employed thematic analysis to interpret the transcribed interviews. On the other hand, the quantitative one-group pretest-post-test design used the mean and paired sample t-test to measure the reading performance of the learners in the phases of treatment. The analysis of how the project RePACK facilitate their reading performance has emerged into two themes: availability of learning support, and access to reading resources. The level of learners’ oral word recognition in the pre-intervention was found frustration and instructional in the post-intervention. Similarly, there was a leaped in progression of the reading comprehension of the leaners where they were marked frustration in the pre-test and independent in the post-test. Notably, there is a significant difference in the learners’ reading performance level before and after the intervention. This outcome suggests that the project RePACK is effective in improving the reading performance of the learners. In this regard, school heads, teachers, and students are encouraged to adopt the intervention because of its efficacy.

Abstract

Education is not a privilege; it is a human right. In response, Sustainable Development Goals' "Let Me Learn" stated that nearly two-thirds of 10-year-olds can hardly read nor perceive and simplify a text, which is even more severe in the Philippines, where reading is in English. Thus, this research sought to examine the relationship between English reading performance and the metacognitive strategies of the grade 7 students on their word recognition and reading comprehension through the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory to determine their reading profile. In correlation, the Metacognitive Reading Strategies Questionnaire was used to self-assess reading strategies. The quantitative-descriptive correlational research design revealed no significant relationship between English reading performance and metacognitive strategies. However, a significant but weak relationship was seen between oral reading and pragmatic-behavioral strategies. It signifies that they can read some words but can hardly comprehend the reading text. The study's product mainly suggested that the variables do not correlate, concluding that to move toward equitable educational outcomes for an increase in their reading level, reimagining how to foster and reinforce the students to discover and strengthen their gradual progress in reading must at least be achieved to meet the expectations and specifications throughout the act of reading.

Abstract

he study examines the factors influencing students' decisions to pursue accounting certification and their impact on Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification. It focuses on academic, financial, social, and career motivations, investigating their relationships with age, gender, and year level. Utilizing the convergent parallel method with a descriptive correlational approach and stratified random sampling, the research was confined to Aldersgate College, Inc. A survey questionnaire was administered to 115 accountancy students across all year levels. The findings suggest several key insights. Firstly, students aged 19-20, predominantly female, and in their first year exhibit a heightened interest in accounting certification. Financial, social, and career motivations emerge as the most influential factors, with academic motivation following closely behind. Secondly, while significant correlations exist between motivational factors and age/gender, their relationship with year level is comparatively weaker. Notably, motivational factors display a positive association with age and gender, indicating their substantial influence. Conversely, the correlation with year level is marginal, suggesting its limited impact. Consequently, age and gender emerge as more salient variables than year level in driving students' motivation towards CPA certification. These findings have important implications for accounting educators, policymakers, and practitioners who can use them to develop more effective strategies to motivate accounting students towards achieving CPA certification and success in their careers.
