Abstract

The fundamental concept of this study is to explore the communication dynamics of a general contractor institution. The study examines the organizational culture and communication flow to determine the communication model employed by the institution and document its communication practices. This study employed a qualitative research approach to analyze the institution's communication dynamics in-depth. The researchers conducted an interview and documented and transcribed the responses. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data collected from participants. The findings of this study revealed that the general contractor institution operates under a hierarchical structure but strongly emphasizes respect during interactions. Their well-organized decision-making system allows workers to raise concerns effectively. The institution adeptly uses various communication channels such as Messenger, Viber, Text Message, and Email, adapting tones to specific contexts. Challenges include industry-specific jargon, language barriers, and the influence of hierarchy on feedback dynamics. The result showed that the communication models utilized by the institution are Schramm's model and the Shannon-Weaver model, which emphasize the importance of shared meanings, standard codes, and active participation in communication. Schramm's model highlights feedback and the need for a common understanding, while the Shannon-Weaver model addresses noise reduction and the cyclical nature of communication through feedback. Overall, this study provides important insights into the communication dynamics of the general contractor institution and offers an overview of specific instances or events that have transpired within the organization.

Abstract

Studies show that Filipino learners are not demonstrating proficiency in reading. In the recent Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2023 results, Filipino students were found to be poor at reading proficiency. One potential strategy is collaborative learning. Thus, this study aimed to determine the effect of the Collaborative Learning Approach (CLA) on the reading proficiency of seventh-grade students. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two experimental and control groups. Using purposive sampling, two grade 7 sections of the research site were included in the study. There were 26 students in one section who were chosen to be part of the experimental group and 24 in the other section, constituting the control group, for 50 students. Each group was given a pretest and a post-test. Students in the experimental group employed the collaborative reading method, while the control group used the traditional method. The questionnaire was validated by experts and deemed reliable, scoring .70 on the Kuder-Richardson test. Mean scores and independent t-tests were used to analyze the data. Results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups regarding reading proficiency after the intervention of CLA with a p-value of 0.000. It was concluded that CLA significantly influences reading proficiency and can be recommended for use in the classroom. However, based on the PHIL-IRI criteria for reading proficiency, the students in the experimental group did not meet the minimum instructional or proficiency level requirements. It is therefore suggested that further research must be done to make conclusive evidence that CLA significantly influences reading proficiency and evaluate PHIL-IRI criteria for reading proficiency, considering that it is inconsistent with the independent t-test results showing a significant difference in the reading proficiency of the experimental group.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This descriptive-correlational research aimed to examine the predictive and mediational role of parental support, classroom environment, value, attitude, and anxiety in the perception towards teaching mathematics as a profession of mathematically talented male senior high school learners. One hundred eighteen learners from purposively selected public and private schools in Iloilo City and in the districts of the province of Iloilo participated in the study. Six adapted instruments were used to gather data, which underwent content validation and reliability testing. Means, frequency, standard deviations, Pearson’s product-moment correlations, Multiple Linear Regression and Path Analysis, were the statistical tools used. Results revealed that mathematically talented male learners have moderate parental support, a positive classroom environment, a very useful value of mathematics, a strongly positive attitude, low anxiety, and a moderately high perception towards teaching mathematics. When classified according to parental support, learners who received moderate and high parental support outscored learners with low parental support in their attitude towards mathematics and perception towards teaching mathematics. Also, learners in the positive group outperformed learners in the slightly positive group in their attitude towards mathematics when classified according to the classroom environment. Parental support, value, and attitude can directly predict the perception towards teaching mathematics, but not classroom environment and anxiety. Moreover, parental support, value and attitude were partially mediated while classroom environment was completely mediated on the influence the perception towards teaching Mathematics by the other constructs included in the model. Furthermore, the classroom environment influences the perception towards teaching mathematics. Parental support has the highest contribution in predicting the perception towards teaching mathematics. In conclusion, these findings indicated that parental support has the biggest attribution in predicting mathematically talented male learners’ perceptions towards teaching mathematics.

Abstract

New technology developments are rapidly altering the teaching and learning environment. Schools require leaders who can assist the transformation process and promote a digital culture of learning. As a result, this study aims to determine the influence of the respondents’ perceived digital leadership of principals on their technological self-efficacy when mediated by generational affiliation among private schools in Quezon province. Two instruments were used in this study: The principals’ Digital Leadership questionnaire, which is based on the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) standard for Education Leaders (2022) was administered to school principals/heads, while Teachers’ Technological Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, which is based on the ISTE standard for Educators (2022) was administered to teachers. Descriptive and Inferential analysis was carried out using SPSS. The findings showed that the respondents significantly demonstrated generational work-related orientation, digital leadership, and technological self-efficacy. Furthermore, when respondents were categorized by generational affiliation, there were no significant differences in their work-related orientation, digital leadership, and technological self-efficacy. On the other hand, there was a significant influence of the principals’ digital leadership on teachers’ technological self-efficacy. Moreover, the respondents' generational affiliation/work-related orientation mediates the direct influence of Principals’ Digital Leadership on the Teachers’ Technological Self-efficacy. Principal preparation programs and teacher training programs may include technology-based leadership to improve technology integration in classrooms. It is advised that further studies be conducted on digital leadership and technical self-efficacy for administrators and teachers.

Abstract

The study delves into the intricate symbiotic relationship between service providers and customers, which becomes increasingly complex amid competitive landscapes. It counts on the service provider’s capability to deliver exceptional service that fosters a unique customer satisfaction that not only encourages repeat patronage but also prompts referrals to others. The study sought to determine the presence of a correlation between the quality of service delivered by medical staff and patients' satisfaction levels by using the SERVQUAL model with 22 slightly modified indicators spread across five service quality dimensions that include reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness. The research was conducted within the confines of a hospital in Cebu. 314 patisents consented to participate in the data collection process. A survey was conducted to gather data on service delivery and another was conducted for patient satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis and Dublin-Watson test were used to compute correlations and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to compute the significance of difference. The following items are the findings. The five dimensions of service quality are above average and the service quality rating in its entirety was 3.756. Patient satisfaction was above average with a rating of 3.131. All the service quality dimensions were statistically correlated with patient satisfaction. Service quality in its entirety was statically correlated with patient satisfaction. There was a significant difference between service quality in its entirety and patient satisfaction. Finally, the ratings suggest that improvements were needed in all service dimensions, and because of high patient expectations improvements are both necessary and urgent.
