Abstract

Mastery of students in medical skills is a very important aspect that will bridge the gap between clinical competence and procedural knowledge. Based on the 2012 Indonesian Doctor Competency Standards, urinary catheter installation skills have 4A competencies, which means that a primary care doctor graduate must be able to do it independently, by mastering theory, indications, contraindications, and complications that can arise. Students' perceptions of the learning system and learning environment will be the basis for maximizing and varying the learning system and environment. Basic knowledge of students related to a learning system will affect the perception and how the student learning process in the future. This research is a descriptive study with a research design cross sectional for students in the fifth and seventh semesters of the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, University of Mataram. The sampling technique used a total sampling technique and the sample was asked to fill out a questionnaire about perceptions of medical skills in inserting a urinary catheter. From 196 respondents consisting of men (34.7%) and women (65.3%) with an age range of 19-23 years. Good perception of medical skills in infusion is seen from the percentage of motivation factors (96.9 %), instructors (89.8%-100%), self-awareness (99%-100%), learning atmosphere (81.1%-96 .9%), facilities and infrastructure (43.4%-89.3%), self-confidence (57.7%-99.5%), and clinical learning environment (89.8%). The bad perception is only found in the difference between learning in the mannequin and the patient (56.6%). The majority of students have a good perception of the medical skills learning system of urinary catheter insertion.

Abstract

The human ear consists of 3 main parts, there are the outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. One of the injuries that can affect the human ear is barotrauma. Barotrauma is an injury caused by a pressure difference between the inside of the body and the external space. Barotrauma can occur in any structure in the body where there is an enclosed space that can be occupied by air including the middle ear space, paranasal sinuses, lungs, stomach and intestines. However, barotrauma most commonly occurs in the middle ear, this is mainly due to the complexity of the function of the eustachian tube. Middle ear barotrauma occurs when the eustachian tube cannot open to balance air pressure. In various literatures it is reported that the incidence and prevalence of ear barotrauma ranges from 4.1 – 82%. Clinical manifestations of middle ear barotrauma include hearing loss, pain in the ear, autophony, a feeling of water in the ear and sometimes accompanied by tinnitus and vertigo.

Abstract

Abstract

Pitiriasis rosea (PR) is a papulosquamous disorder with appearance of multiple, discrete patchesof skin rash in a distinctive pattern over the trunk and limbs. Epidemiologic studies on PR in Africa showed 2,2% to 4,8% dermatologist patient have a PR. The incidence is 170 cases per 100,000 persons per year and It typically affects persons 10 to 35 years of age. The clinical presentation of PR can be a single larger lesion, measuring about 2 to 10 centimetres, usually precedes the widespread rash for up to two weeks. This initial lesion, also known as the 'herald patch', most commonly appears on the trunk, and then the secondary eruption occurs. Lesions are similar to the herald patch but smaller. Their distribution commonly follows the skin cleavage lines in what is referred to as the 'Christmas tree pattern'. The risk factor of PR such as COVID-19 infection, herpes virus reactivation, environmental factors, and pregnancy factors. Treatment is aimed at controlling symptoms and consists of antihistamines, antibiotics or corticosteroids. In some cases, acyclovir can be used to treat symptoms and reduce the length of disease. Ultraviolet phototherapy can also be considered for severe cases

Abstract

The establishment of anti-corruption institutions in several countries does not guarantee that every country can be completely free from corruption, even efforts to weaken anti-corruption institutions such as the Indonesian KPK and Hong Kong ICAC have been and are still happening for the past few years. This study aims to examine how the weakening efforts were carried out, as well as the factors that led to the weakening of the two anti-corruption institutions. In this study using qualitative methods, the data collection techniques were obtained from documentation and from interviews with parties related to this research. The results of this study found that efforts to weaken anti-corruption institutions were carried out in various ways, namely if at the Indonesian KPK through regulatory means such as the revision of the 2019 KPK law which is still a matter of debate and controversy in the wider community, then another way is through criminalization and terror against KPK commissioners and employees by parties who are not happy with the existence of the KPK anti-corruption agency. At ICAC Hong Kong, this actually happened a lot from within the institution itself, such as several cases that dragged ICAC employees and commissioners and had resulted in the disruption of ICAC's performance in dealing with corruption cases. Efforts to weaken anti-corruption institutions can be avoided if there is political will from all parties, especially the Head of State, while consistently fully supporting the eradication of corruption and taking firm action against anyone who tries to weaken anti-corruption institutions

Abstract

Dry eye is one of the eye diseases that is the most common reason a person visits an ophthalmologist. Globally, the prevalence of dry eye with or without symptoms ranges from 5-50%. Dry eye is more common in women than men and increases with age. Dry eye is a disease that has many similarities to autoimmune diseases. One of the autoimmune diseases that can be a high risk factor for dry eyes is collagen vascular disease. The mechanism of dry eye in patients with collagen vascular disease is thought to occur due to the role of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor type 3 autoantigens and B cells as APCs that produce autoantibodies. This autoimmune process causes a loss of homeostasis due to the presence of inflammatory mediators that damage the lacrimal functional unit. Dry eyes that occur due to collagen vascular disease are characterized by symptoms of irritation and discomfort in the eyes. Currently, knowledge about the pathogenesis and treatment is still growing.

Abstract

Atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease. Atopic dermatitis is almost 20% in children and 10% in adults. The etiology of atopic dermatitis is genetic and environmental factors that cause abnormalities in the epidermis and immune system. To determine the psychological comorbidities of atopic dermatitis patients and their management. The writing of this article includes various sources originating from scientific journals on online portals of journal publications such as Medscape, Google Scholar, PubMed, and NCBI, with the keyword “Eczema Atopic” Individuals with AD are at risk for psychological disorders. Psychiatric comorbidities that can occur in AD patients are depression, anxiety, stress, behavioral disorders, and psychosis. Atopic dermatitis has a major impact on the mental health and quality of life of individuals with AD as a result of intense itching, unpredictable disease, and feelings of disability caused by skin lesions. Individuals with atopic eczema are more likely to experience depression and anxiety because of the effects of itching and discomfort, disability, and perceived social stigmatization. Lack of sleep due to itching at night can increase the risk of mental disorders. This causes individuals with AD to have a lower quality of life and higher stress levels than healthy individuals.
