Abstract

This study aims to optimise the use of Set Top Box (STB)-based web servers in delivering steganographic images in blank spot areas. Steganography is a technique of hiding information in digital media so that its existence is difficult to detect, which plays an important role in communication security systems. The main problem faced is the difficulty of sending secret messages in areas that are not covered by the internet network. The methods used in this study include the development of a web server architecture that can interact with STBs, the installation of the Armbian operating system, and the implementation of web server services for the transmission of steganographic images. The results of the study show that an STB-based web server can function properly in transmitting steganographic images, where secret messages can be received and read correctly by the recipient. Thus, this study provides an innovative solution to improve connectivity and data security in blank spot areas, as well as contributing to the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and web server-based applications

Abstract

The increasing use of QR codes in daily life has created opportunities for cyber threats, such as the insertion of malicious URLs that are difficult for average users to recognize. This research aims to qualitatively analyze best practices in URL security detection extracted from QR codes, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) approaches and the integration of digital audit systems. A systematic literature review method was applied, drawing from internationally indexed publications and thematic observations about user behavior and threat detection technologies for phishing and malware. Findings indicate that AI-based detection systems effectively identify security threats earlier and more accurately, especially when combined with user education features and activity logging through the Wazuh/ELK Stack. However, human error due to limited digital security literacy remains a major challenge. The study concludes that integrating automated detection technologies, user education, and digital auditing is crucial to mitigating cyberattacks via QR codes. Development of adaptable tools for emerging threat patterns and behavior-based user education strategies are recommended to enhance the national cybersecurity ecosystem.

Abstract

This research centers on the development and deployment of a secure situation-mapping framework that integrates Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with biometric fingerprinting and the FIDO2 WebAuthn protocol. The project was initiated as a response to the growing sophistication of cyber threats—specifically phishing and unauthorized access—which pose a significant risk to sensitive territorial data.Adopting a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the study progressed through systematic phases: requirement analysis, architectural design, implementation, and rigorous testing. The core of the system lies in its dual-layered defense, combining traditional credentials (username and password) with advanced biometric verification. To maintain high precision, the fingerprint matching process utilizes minutiae extraction paired with Euclidean distance calculations and rotation transformations. This technical approach ensures that verification remains accurate even when scanning positions are inconsistent. The implementation results demonstrate a marked improvement in both authentication speed and overall security. Furthermore, thorough white-box testing confirms that the architecture is resilient against common vulnerabilities, including SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). Ultimately, the developed system provides a robust solution for data protection while significantly enhancing the operational efficiency of situation mapping management.

Abstract

The increased internet access in military education environments, including at the Poltekad Kodiklatad, has also opened up opportunities for abuse, such as access to online gambling, which has the potential to cause economic, social, and mental impacts, as well as information security risks through social engineering schemes. Data from the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia (2023) shows that thousands of online gambling domains are blocked, but domain fluxing practices cause the block list to quickly become outdated. On the other hand, a report from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (2023) noted an increase in cyberattacks against defense institutions through the exploitation of user vulnerabilities. This study aims to develop and test a Raspberry Pi 4-based DNS Filtering system as a low-cost network security solution and zero-touch enforcement in the Poltekad environment. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a single-group pretest-posttest experimental design to measure the system's effectiveness before and after implementation. The four evaluation parameters include the effectiveness of blocking gambling domains, the false positive rate, the impact of DNS latency compared to Google DNS 8.8.8.8, and resistance to bypass (DoH, direct IP access, and VPN). The implementation results show that the system is capable of plug-and-play operation via Pi-hole as a transparent gateway at a cost of Rp2,150,000, lower than proprietary solutions. This research produces a blueprint for implementing open-source DNS Filtering that is effective, efficient, and replicable as a model for securing military unit networks in accordance with the policy of utilizing open technology within the Indonesian Army.

Abstract

The configuration of MikroTik RouterOS devices through Winbox is still done manually with a modular-technical interface, which is time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult for non-technical users. This study aims to design and implement a desktop wizard application with a graphical user interface (GUI) for basic MikroTik configuration, utilize the RouterOS API for snapshot-based automation, and compare the ease of use and efficiency between the wizard system and manual Winbox configuration. The application was developed using Python with CustomTkinter as the GUI framework and communicates with MikroTik devices via RouterOS API on TCP port 8728. The system development follows the Waterfall method, covering requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing phases. Testing was conducted using Black Box Testing for functionality verification and System Usability Scale (SUS) for usability measurement, along with configuration time comparison between the wizard system and manual Winbox. Black Box Testing results show that all 8 configuration modules function correctly with a 100% success rate. The SUS evaluation yielded an average score of 78.5, categorized as “Acceptable (Good).” Time comparison testing demonstrates that the wizard system reduces configuration time by an average of 58.3% compared to manual Winbox configuration. This research concludes that the desktop wizard application effectively simplifies MikroTik configuration, provides snapshot-based rollback capability, and significantly improves both ease of use and efficiency for network administrators.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of computer network infrastructures requires a systematic and user-friendly security auditing mechanism. One of the essential stages in network security auditing is port scanning, which is used to identify active services that may pose potential security vulnerabilities. However, most tools such as Nmap are still based on a Command Line Interface (CLI), requiring technical expertise to interpret the scanning results effectively. This study aims to design and implement a Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based port scanning application named Bryan Scan, which integrates the Nmap engine as a supporting tool for network security analysis. The research method employs the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Waterfall model, consisting of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and evaluation stages. The system is developed using Python, integrating Nmap through system calls and processing XML-based output. The results indicate that Bryan Scan is capable of displaying open ports, active services, operating system detection, and automatically generating a rule-based security risk score. The level of conformity between Bryan Scan and Nmap CLI reaches ≥95%, with improved ease of analysis based on usability testing results. Therefore, the application is feasible to be utilized as a structured and informative tool for internal network security auditing.
