Abstract

ABSTRACT Neuropsychiatric Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (NPSLE) is a severe complication among pediatric patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) that can significantly reduce quality of life and increase morbidity. Neuropsychiatric manifestations in pediatric SLE are influenced by various clinical factors that remain incompletely understood. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between disease activity, nutritional status, and disease onset with neuropsychiatric manifestations in children with SLE. This study was conducted using an analytic observational cross sectional design involving 32 pediatric SLE patients with neuropsychiatric manifestations treated at RS Ngoerah in 2024. Independent variables included nutritional status, disease activity measured by the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), and disease onset, while the dependent variable was the type of neuropsychiatric manifestation. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square tests and logistic regression. The results demonstrated significant associations between nutritional status (p=0.024), SLEDAI score (p=0.008), and disease onset (p=0.043) with neuropsychiatric manifestations. However, multivariate analysis revealed no statistically significant predictors (p>0.05). In conclusion, nutritional status, disease activity, and disease onset are associated with neuropsychiatric manifestations in pediatric SLE patients, although these associations were not significant in multivariate analysis. ABSTRAK Neuropsychiatric Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (NPSLE) merupakan komplikasi berat pada pasien anak dengan Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) yang dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup serta meningkatkan angka kesakitan. Manifestasi neuropsikiatri pada SLE anak dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor klinis yang hingga kini masih memerlukan kajian lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara aktivitas penyakit lupus, status gizi, dan onset penyakit dengan manifestasi neuropsikiatri pada anak dengan SLE. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang (cross-sectional). Subjek penelitian adalah 32 pasien anak berusia 0–18 tahun dengan diagnosis SLE yang mengalami manifestasi neuropsikiatri dan dirawat di RS Ngoerah pada tahun 2024. Variabel independen meliputi status gizi, skor aktivitas penyakit lupus berdasarkan Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), dan onset penyakit, sedangkan variabel dependen adalah jenis manifestasi neuropsikiatri. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji Chi-Square dan regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara status gizi (p=0,024), skor SLEDAI (p=0,008), dan onset penyakit (p=0,043) dengan manifestasi neuropsikiatri. Namun, analisis multivariat menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada variabel yang berperan signifikan sebagai prediktor manifestasi neuropsikiatri (p>0,05). Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa status gizi, aktivitas penyakit lupus, dan onset penyakit berhubungan dengan manifestasi neuropsikiatri pada anak dengan SLE, meskipun tidak menunjukkan signifikansi dalam analisis multivariat.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Depressive mood-affect disorders in adolescents often present with atypical clinical manifestations, thereby increasing the risk of delayed detection and early intervention. In contrast to adults, adolescents are more likely to exhibit irritability, behavioral changes, and disturbances in interpersonal relationships rather than verbally expressed depressive affect. This case report aims to describe the role of family psychosocial factors in the manifestation of adolescent depression as well as the response to a biopsychosocial management approach. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth anamnesis, clinical observation, mental status examination, and exploration of the patient’s and family’s psychosocial history. The subject was a 13-year-old female adolescent diagnosed with a severe depressive episode without psychotic features, with a background of complex family dynamics. The patient exhibited depressive symptoms manifested through behavioral changes and difficulties in family relationships. The loss of a father figure served as a major psychosocial stressor, while maternal anxious parenting and generational gap contributed as contextual factors influencing the patient’s condition. In this case, the patient received a comprehensive biopsychosocial intervention consisting of pharmacological treatment, psychotherapy, and family involvement, which resulted in gradual improvement in emotional condition, social functioning, and the quality of the mother–child relationship. These findings suggest that depressive manifestations in adolescents are associated with family psychosocial factors and illustrate that an integrated biopsychosocial approach involving family participation plays a role in improving emotional condition, social functioning, and family relationships, thereby highlighting the importance of exploring family dynamics in early detection and management of adolescent depression. ABSTRAK Gangguan mood afek depresif pada remaja sering menampilkan manifestasi klinis yang atipikal, sehingga meningkatkan risiko keterlambatan dalam deteksi dan penanganan dini. Berbeda dengan populasi dewasa, remaja lebih sering memperlihatkan iritabilitas, perubahan perilaku, serta gangguan dalam relasi interpersonal dibandingkan keluhan afek depresif yang diekspresikan secara verbal. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan peran faktor psikososial keluarga dalam manifestasi depresi remaja serta respons terhadap penatalaksanaan biopsikososial. Laporan kasus ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui anamnesis mendalam, observasi klinis, pemeriksaan status mental, serta penelusuran riwayat psikososial pasien dan keluarga. Subjek adalah remaja perempuan berusia 13 tahun yang didiagnosis mengalami episode depresif berat tanpa gejala psikotik dengan latar belakang dinamika keluarga yang kompleks. Pasien menunjukkan gejala depresi dengan manifestasi perilaku dan kesulitan dalam relasi keluarga. Kehilangan figur ayah menjadi stresor psikososial utama, sementara pola asuh ibu yang cemas dan kesenjangan generasi turut menjadi konteks yang memengaruhi kondisi pasien. Pada kasus ini, pasien mendapatkan penatalaksanaan biopsikososial yang mencakup intervensi farmakologis, psikoterapi, dan keterlibatan keluarga, yang menunjukkan perbaikan bertahap pada kondisi emosional, fungsi sosial, serta kualitas relasi ibu–anak. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa manifestasi depresi pada remaja berkaitan dengan faktor psikososial keluarga, dan menggambarkan bahwa pendekatan biopsikososial terintegrasi dengan pelibatan keluarga berperan dalam perbaikan kondisi emosional, fungsi sosial, serta relasi ibu–anak, sehingga menekankan pentingnya eksplorasi dinamika keluarga dalam deteksi dini dan penanganan depresi remaja.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI) is a rare metabolic disorder caused by the kidneys’ inability to respond to antidiuretic hormone, resulting in polyuria, polydipsia, and recurrent dehydration, which affect nutritional status and child growth. This condition becomes more complex when accompanied by severe protein energy malnutrition (PEM) of the marasmus type and stunting, which may lead to cognitive and psychosocial impairments. This study aims to examine the relationship between chronic medical conditions, malnutrition, and psychological disorders in adolescents with NDI. The method used is a case report through anamnesis, physical examination, nutritional status evaluation, and psychometric assessments. The subject is a 15-year-old male adolescent with a history of NDI and severe malnutrition. The results show an IQ score of 83, indicating Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF), a high score on the Olweus Bullying Questionnaire (≥3) indicating victimization, a Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale score of 24 indicating low self-esteem, and a Child Depression Inventory score of 26 indicating depressive symptoms. The patient also experienced emotional symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, and social withdrawal. These findings indicate that the combination of chronic illness and malnutrition increases the risk of psychosocial disorders through internal factors (cognitive dysfunction) and external factors (bullying and stigma). It is concluded that a multidisciplinary approach including medical management, nutritional rehabilitation, psychological support, and family and school education is essential to improve quality of life and prevent long-term consequences. ABSTRAK Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI) merupakan gangguan metabolisme langka akibat ketidakmampuan ginjal merespons hormon antidiuretik yang menyebabkan poliuria, polidipsia, dan dehidrasi berulang, serta berdampak pada status gizi dan pertumbuhan anak. Kondisi ini menjadi lebih kompleks karena disertai Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) tipe marasmus dan stunting yang berpotensi menimbulkan gangguan kognitif dan psikososial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji keterkaitan antara kondisi medis kronis, malnutrisi, dan gangguan psikologis pada remaja dengan NDI. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus melalui anamnesis, pemeriksaan fisik, evaluasi status gizi, dan asesmen psikometrik. Subjek adalah remaja laki-laki usia 15 tahun dengan riwayat NDI dan malnutrisi berat. Hasil menunjukkan skor IQ 83 yang mengindikasikan Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF), skor Olweus Bullying Questionnaire (OBQ) (≥3) sebagai korban perundungan, skor Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale 24 (harga diri rendah), serta skor Child Depression Inventory 26 yang menunjukkan gejala depresi. Pasien juga mengalami gejala emosional seperti mudah marah, cemas, dan menarik diri dari lingkungan sosial. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi penyakit kronis dan malnutrisi meningkatkan risiko gangguan psikososial melalui faktor internal (disfungsi kognitif) dan eksternal (perundungan dan stigma). Disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan multidisiplin yang meliputi penanganan medis, rehabilitasi nutrisi, dukungan psikologis, serta edukasi keluarga dan sekolah sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan mencegah dampak jangka panjang.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Functional tremor is a form of Functional Neurological Disorder that often presents diagnostic challenges because it is not accompanied by clear structural or neurophysiological abnormalities. This condition is frequently associated with affective disorders, including depression with somatic symptoms, thus requiring an integrative neuropsychiatric approach. The purpose of this case report is to describe a case of functional tremor accompanied by a moderate depressive episode with somatic symptoms and to discuss it within a neuropsychiatric framework. The subject was a 24-year-old man who had experienced progressive tremor since adolescence, which worsened during activity and emotional stress and improved at rest. The patient also reported depressive symptoms including persistent sadness, anergia, sleep disturbances, concentration difficulties, and somatic complaints. Neurological examination revealed an arrhythmic tremor with variable amplitude and frequency that could be suppressed. Supporting examinations, including MRI, MRA, and Electroneuromyography (ENMG), were within normal limits. The management consisted of a combination of antidepressant pharmacotherapy, supportive psychotherapy, education regarding the functional nature of the symptoms, as well as relaxation exercises and stress management techniques. This approach focused on functional recovery, reduction of affective symptoms, and improvement of the patient’s understanding of the relationship between emotional states and motor manifestations. The key finding of this case is that improvement in tremor symptoms occurred in parallel with the improvement of depressive symptoms, supporting the presence of shared neuropsychiatric mechanisms involving emotional regulation, attention, and the perception of motor control. This case implies that an integrative neuropsychiatric approach is essential not only for establishing an accurate diagnosis but also for planning effective, function-oriented management for the patient’s overall recovery. ABSTRAK Tremor fungsional merupakan salah satu bentuk Functional Neurological Disorder yang sering menimbulkan tantangan diagnostik karena tidak disertai kelainan struktural atau neurofisiologis yang jelas. Kondisi ini kerap berasosiasi dengan gangguan afektif, termasuk depresi dengan gejala somatik, sehingga memerlukan pendekatan neuropsikiatri yang integratif. Tujuan laporan kasus ini adalah mendeskripsikan kejadian tremor fungsional yang disertai episode depresi sedang dengan gejala somatik serta membahasnya dalam kerangka pendekatan neuropsikiatri. Subjek penelitian adalah seorang laki-laki berusia 24 tahun dengan keluhan tremor progresif sejak remaja yang memberat saat aktivitas dan kondisi emosional serta membaik saat istirahat. Pasien juga mengalami gejala depresi berupa suasana perasaan sedih, anergia, gangguan tidur, gangguan konsentrasi, dan keluhan somatik. Pemeriksaan neurologis menunjukkan tremor aritmik dengan amplitudo dan frekuensi bervariasi serta dapat disupresi. Pemeriksaan penunjang, termasuk MRI, MRA, dan Electroneuromyography (ENMG), menunjukkan hasil dalam batas normal. Tatalaksana yang diberikan meliputi kombinasi farmakoterapi antidepresan, psikoterapi suportif, edukasi mengenai sifat fungsional gejala, serta latihan relaksasi dan manajemen stres. Pendekatan ini difokuskan pada pemulihan fungsi, pengurangan gejala afektif, serta peningkatan pemahaman pasien terhadap hubungan antara kondisi emosional dan manifestasi motorik. Temuan penting dari kasus ini menunjukkan bahwa perbaikan gejala tremor berjalan seiring dengan perbaikan kondisi depresi, menguatkan adanya keterkaitan mekanisme neuropsikiatri antara regulasi emosi, atensi, dan persepsi kendali gerakan. Kasus ini memberikan implikasi bahwa pendekatan neuropsikiatri yang integratif tidak hanya membantu dalam penegakan diagnosis yang tepat, tetapi juga efektif dalam perencanaan tatalaksana yang berorientasi pada pemulihan fungsi pasien secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Migrant students study far from their hometown often feel to experiencing loneliness due to pressure of adapting to academic demands and adjustment to a new environment. This study aims to analyze how social support and sense of belonging can play role in overcoming the loneliness experienced by migrant students. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review approach the main methodology in examining relevant literature. The literature was conducted systematically relevant articles related to social support, sense of belonging, and loneliness. The literature search was conducted using several databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, EBSCO, and Publish or Perish. The initial search identified 1.676 potentially relevant to the research topic. These articles were the screened using the PRISMA Procedure. After a lengthy selection process resulting in 11 articles for further analysis. The results of the review show that social support and sense of belonging serve as protective factor against loneliness. Support from family, friends, and the community helps migrant students adapt to new environments, thereby reducing feelings of loneliness. Social support and a sense of belonging are key elements that significantly contribute to helping out-of-town students overcome loneliness during their adaptation to a new educational environment. ABSTRAK Mahasiswa rantau yang menempuh pendidikan jauh dari daerah asal kerap kali merasa kesepian karena mendapat tekanan untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan akademik dan lingkungan baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana dukungan sosial dan rasa memiliki dapat berperan dalam mengatasi kesepian yang dialami mahasiswa rantau. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Systematic Literature Review sebagai metodologi utama dalam menelaah literatur yang relevan. Proses penelusuran literatur dilakukan secara sistematis dengan mencari artikel-artikel yang relevan yang membahas mengenai dukungan sosial, rasa memiliki, dan kesepian. Pencarian dilakukan melalui beberapa database yang meliputi Google Scholar, Scopus, EBSCO, serta Publish or perish. Dari proses pencarian awal, ditemukan sebanyak 1.676 artikel yang berpotensi relevan dengan topik penelitian. Selanjutnya jumlah tersebut dipersempit melalui tahapan PRISMA. Setelah melalui proses penyeleksian yang panjang, akhirnya terkumpul 11 artikel yang dianalisis lebih lanjut. Hasil tinjauan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa dukungan sosial dan rasa memiliki berperan sebagai faktor pelindung dalam mengurangi perasaan kesepian. Dukungan dari keluarga, teman sebaya, dan masyarakat terbukti membantu mahasiswa rantau beradaptasi di lingkungan baru, sehingga dapat mengurangi perasaan kesepian yang mereka alami. Dukungan sosial dan rasa memiliki merupakan elemen kunci yang berkontribusi signifikan dalam membantu mahasiswa rantau mengatasi kesepian selama proses adaptasi di lingkungan pendidikan yang baru.

Abstract

The mental health of students at the Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in Palur is a serious concern due to academic pressure and environmental adaptation challenges that trigger anxiety disorders. The focus of this study is to identify triggers for psychological anxiety and evaluate the management strategies implemented by caregivers. This research uses a qualitative case study approach through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and descriptive documentation analysis. The research findings reveal that students' anxiety stems from the demands of public speaking, exams, and the dynamics of social interactions. Management strategies are implemented through three main pillars: providing consistent moral support, a spiritual approach through routine Tahajud prayers and dhikr, and providing private counseling facilities. The results indicate that although spiritual interventions are very effective in calming the mind, barriers such as mental health stigma and family reluctance to provide internal student data still hinder optimal recovery. The main conclusion emphasizes that managing anxiety in Islamic boarding schools requires a more structured early detection system and open communication patterns between the institution and parents. Strengthening professional mental health facilities is urgently needed to ensure that students are able to develop their potential in a healthy, resilient, and balanced manner amidst the dynamics of rigorous dormitory life in a sustainable manner for their future through the integration of psychological services and complete spiritual recovery for education.

Abstract

Close friendships are interpersonal relationships generally grounded in trust and self-disclosure. However, not all individuals are able to engage in self-disclosure optimally. Social anxiety, defined by fears of negative evaluation, may hinder disclosure. Yet studies examining its moderating role between trust and self-disclosure among emerging adults in Indonesia remain limited. This study aimed to investigate the effect of trust on self-disclosure in close friendships among emerging adults and examine whether social anxiety moderates this relationship. A quantitative correlational design with moderation regression analysis was employed involving 383 participants (91 males and 292 females) aged 18–25 years recruited through convenience sampling. Trust was measured using the 14-item Trust Scale (α = .855), self-disclosure using the 10-item Self-Disclosure Index (α = .851), and social anxiety using two dimensions of the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents with 10 items (α = .902). Analysis was conducted using the MedMod module in Jamovi. The results indicated that trust positively and significantly predicted self-disclosure (b = .5009, p < .001), whereas social anxiety did not moderate the relationship (b = -.0107, p = .789). These findings highlight the crucial role of trust in fostering self-disclosure in close friendships and suggest that social anxiety does not necessarily alter this dynamic among emerging adults.

Abstract

The role of fathers is critical during adolescent development and growth. Fatherlessness affects adolescents' lives physically and psychologically. Differences in adolescent characteristics based on gender are likely to differentiate the impact of fatherlessness on female and male adolescents. This study examines the differences in the impact of fatherlessness on adolescents in terms of gender. The research was conducted by conducting a literature study. The literature search was conducted using the Google Scholar platform. Based on the results of the literature search, 376 journal results were found, but only 15 journals met the criteria and discussed the impact of fatherlessness on female and male adolescents with a publication range of 2020-2025. Based on the literature review, it was found that there are differences in the impact of fatherlessness on adolescent life in terms of gender. Female adolescents tend to experience obstacles in self-acceptance, interpersonal relationships, emotional intelligence, and anxiety. Meanwhile, the impact of fatherlessness on male adolescents tends to lead to aggressiveness, self-assessment, academic achievement, and self-concept. In addition, the role of significant others or parties involved in the lives of adolescents without a father figure has a huge influence on the success of these adolescents in the adaptation process.

Abstract

Generation Z is a cohort that has grown up alongside rapid technological advancements, making them highly familiar with social media use, particularly Instagram. This platform functions not only as a medium for sharing information but also as a space for constructing self-identity through social interaction and engagement with emerging trends. High levels of Instagram use can lead to the emergence of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), characterized by anxiety about being left out of others’ social experiences. This condition may contribute to a stronger tendency to conform to social norms or behavioral expectations within online environments.This study aims to examine the relationship between FoMO and conformity among Generation Z Instagram users. The sampling process employed a non-probability purposive sampling technique, involving 403 respondents recruited through an online questionnaire distributed via Google Form. Data analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between FoMO and conformity, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.453 and p < 0.001 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that higher levels of FoMO are associated with a greater inclination to engage in conforming behaviors on Instagram. Overall, the results underscore the role of FoMO in increasing conformity tendencies among Generation Z social media users.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate how resilience works in mothers who care for children with intellectual disabilities. To study the participants' experiences comprehensively, a qualitative approach involving case studies was used. Three participants were selected through purposive sampling based on the criteria of being single mothers who had children with mild, moderate, or severe intellectual disabilities. Thematic analysis was used to collect data after semi-structured interviews. The results of the study showed that when participants received their children's diagnoses, they experienced an initial emotional phase of shock, denial, stress, and confusion. Emotion regulation, impulse control, optimism, problem-solving skills, empathy, self-efficacy, and self-achievement are factors of resilience. Cognitive, emotional, spiritual, behavioral, and social strategies are used for adaptation. The resilience process is highly dependent on family, community, therapy, and disability community support. In conclusion, resilience enhances mothers' adaptive abilities, parenting stability, and psychological well-being. This study improves our understanding of the psychological resilience of parents raising children with intellectual disabilities and builds solutions for family support.
