Abstract

The aims of this research is to find out the kinds  and the meanings of high context culture in sanam teri kasaam movie, to give understanding about culture in india and culture that include into high context culture through movie. Movie is also called a film. Movie can be done well during the shooting. And the point of view of this research is for communication, it means that we will know the other culture,  we haven’t to come to that country directly but with this research we can know the culture in that country.This research observed all the characters and have found four parts of high context culture . From the characters of sanam teri kassam movie, those are Body language (Kinesics) which include gesture, facial expression, and dress. Second is eye contact (Oculistics), Then Touch (Haptics) and the last is Body distance (proxemics). So that, High context culture is a large part of the meanings lies in the physical context. As a result, the message itself carries less information.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to know whether English song can improve the students’ vocabulary at fifth Grade of SDN Tanjung I Pademawu. The result of the data analysis proved that the value of t-test (tobs is 8,742 and ttable is 2,021). It means that tobs is higher than ttable(8,742>2,021). Based on the criteria for testing hypothesis was if the value of t obtained is higher than t table at significant level 0,05 the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and hypothesis alternative (HI) is accepted. The researcher came to conclusion that “there was significant Influence of English Song Toward Students’ Vocabulary Mastery and students’ motivation at the fifth Grade of SDN Tanjung I Pademawu.

Abstract

One of factors for student success in speaking ability is to use their listening ability, because Listening is play important in development process of speaking ability. therefore, this research aimed to finding out the correlation between students’ listening skill and speaking ability.This research applied a correlation study and used a quantitative design, the subject were 22 students of English Department second semester Madura University. There are two instruments to collect the data on this research. (1) essay test was used to get the data of their listening skill. (2) interview was used to get the data of their speaking ability.Person correlation product moment and SPSS version 26 program is used to analysis the data. Abstract

Code switching occurs in bilingual and multilingual community when a person switches from one language, variety, or dialect to another one. People can do code switching in any kinds of situation and domain. Social context influences someone to convey information by alternating different codes for communication. Code switching also occurs in the process of teaching and learning in the classroom by lecturers and students because they speak with more than one language. They can change or mix the language when they have the same perception of things or something that is being communicated.The researcher conducted this research to shows the kinds and the functions of code switching that used by English department student at Madura University, especially for seventh semester students when they were teaching practice in micro teaching. Because as candidates of teacher, student of seventh semester must follow micro teaching before they follow teaching practice program.This research is qualitative research by using descriptive case study. The data were collected by video recording while the participant of study having teaching practice in micro teaching. The result of this research indicate that most of the participant of study use situational code switching, and only some participant use metaphorical code switching. It means that teaching English process used Indonesian – English code switching. And the most functions that participant use is explanation function.The researcher also expected that this research will be able to help the readers know and understand about phenomena of code switching that occurs in bilingual or multilingual conversation, and to be useful for next researcher to conduct more comprehensive and more detail study especially relating about code switching.

Abstract

The research are formuated to find out there is any correlation between students’ intrinsic motivation and reading comprehension in seventh grade smp al-maarif panggung. This analysis used two variable. Students’ intrinsic motivation as independent variable and reading comprehension as dependent variable.The method used in this research was a correlation method. The population of this research is seventh grade smp al-maarif panggung by systematic sampling techniques, the research takes consist of 23 students. The instrument collecting data are questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was used to get the data of students’ intrinsic motivation and test for reading comprehension. To validity test of instruments this research used content validity and to the reliability test of instrument used two method. Alpha cronbach to test the reliability of questionnaire and guttman split-half to test reliabilty of test. In the analyzing the data, the researcher used Pearson Product Moment by SPSS v.26 program. The result of this research showed that there is correlation between students’ intrinsic motivation and reading comprehension with the r value is (0,787) > rt (0.413) it means that the students’ intrinsic motivation and reading comprehension coefficient correlation and the category is strong correlation.

Abstract

Writing is one of English skill. Writing is the most difficult skill to be mastered. The using of short story as media make the students easier to be the best writer. The researcher research the English teacher at IPB in using short story as media in teaching narrative writing skill. The purpose of this research are to know how the english teacher use short story as the media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan, second to know the students obtacle in using story as the media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan, and the third is to know the students responses the use of short story as media in teaching writing at third level of Institut Prima Bhakti (IPB) Pamekasan. The method used in this research was qualitative research. It was held on 20 June until 25 July 2016. In this class there were 12 students, 10 boys and 2 girls. The researcher used get the data are observation, interview, and documentation. The use of short story as media at IPB pamekasan is based by Ghasemy procedure there four steps in using short story in teaching narrative the first is pre-activities where students required to identify the new vocabulary a ttext of short story in group work, then discussed it in class. Second activities is comprehension work the teacher can help students prepare questions which can ultimately lead to the overall understanding of the text and explain narrative text. After that is Textual analysis and group work here the teacher started to ask the students to rewrite the story of the short story that their alredy disscussed. And the last is post-assignment or further task, the teacher asked the students to compose narrative text

Abstract

Many factors can cause the students speaking namely the student interesting in teaching english strategy. As we have known that many strategies can be applied in teaching speaking including fishbowl discussion strategy and the research findings say that fishbowl discussion strategy is effective and creative to use in teaching sepaking. Because of that, the researcher want to observe teaching speaking using fishbowl discussion strategy at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri I Galis Pamekasan. The objective of the study are to describe how teacher applies fishbowl discussion strategy in teaching speaking at the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Galis Pamekasan. To  find out the student’s respond on teaching  speaking using fishbowl  discussion  strategy  at  the seventh  grade  of  SMPN 1 Galis Pamekasan. In research design of this study used descriptive qualitative research. The object is students of the seventh Grade of SMP Negeri I Galis Pamekasan. The researcher conduct this research two times. The instruments used to got the data were: observation, interview and documentation. Observation was applied in order to know the teacher applies fishbowl discussion strategy in teaching speaking at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri I Galis Pamekasan and the activity in the class. Interview were conducted to know the teacher’s difficulties in teaching speaking English and the students respond on teaching speaking using fishbowl discussion strategy at the sevnth grade of SMP Negeri I Galis Pamekasan. The result showed that teaching speaking using fishbowl discussion strategy at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri I Galis Pamekasan  gave the positive responses because teaching speaking using fishbowl discussion strategycould gave the students motivation to speak  freely and simply. It also made the students became more active, interested, enjoyable and fun in the class.

Abstract

This study aim to find what kinds of grammatical errors made by eight grade students in writing assignment of SMPN 5 Pamekasan? This study is qualitative research by using descriptive approach. The data of this study were taken by using a test. The test was in the form of written test by asking students to make paragraphs. And the test itself is in the written form, and it was used as the research instrument. It was taken in the eight grade SMPN 5 Pamekasan through 2017-2018 academic year. And the test was held for about 60 minutes that consists of 21 students. Based data analysis it is found the greatest errors categories are errors in omission which dedicated 28 times or 44,4 %. For the second error domination, on the other hand, there is the errors of addition and misformation which appeared 15 times by 23,8 %. And the lowest frequency occurrences is the errors of misordering which only has 5 times with the percentage 7,9 %.

Abstract

The research focuses on some specifics problems; the researcher formulates the research problem are: (1) How is the implementation of back to the board game which can improve the students’ vocabulary at ninth grade of Islamic junior high school NURUL YAQIN Banyuates Sampang in Academic year 2018/2019? (2) How is the improvement of the students’ vocabulary by back to the board game at ninth grade of Islamic junior high school NURUL YAQIN Banyuates Sampang in Academic year 2018/2019? The researcher uses classroom action research. Classroom action research is aimed to reveal the students’ real problem in a classroom. The researcher takes the data from class A of ninth grade students of SMPI Nurul Yaqin Banyuates sampang. In the pre-test there were 5 students from 19 students who passed the KKM. And in the post test 1) there were 10 students who passed the KKM from 19 students, and in the post test 2) there were 15 students who passed the KKM. There were improvement of post test 1 and post test 2. The cycle will be successful if 80 % students get minimum score of 70. After calculating the pre-test and post-test score, it showed that the mean score of pre-test 45,74 and the mean of post-test 74,95. So the researcher didn’t need the next cycle because based on the result of test, the result score that 15 students have reached the minimum criteria
