Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly is a common problem that is often found. Many factors affect hypertension in the elderly, so it is necessary to empower them elderly. The purpose of this empowerment to control the blood pressure of the elderly through progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) techniques. The method used is counselling and exercise demonstration, which consists of 3 main activities: screening, PMR technique training, and activity evaluation. The empowerment was attended by nine elderly at UPT PSTW Wisma Cempaka Jember. The evaluation of activities is to measure blood pressure with a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer. Wilcoxon statistical test was used to determine changes in blood pressure before and after PMR intervention. The elderly are 100% male, 55.6% are 60-70 years old, 44.4% live in an orphanage for 1-5 years, and 66.7% are from outside Jember and have itching 44.4%. The p-value was 0.02<0.05 in systole, which means there was a difference before and after PMR, and the p-value was 0.705>0.05 in diastole, which means there was no difference in blood pressure after PMR. PMR focuses on maintaining a relaxed state that can secrete CRH (Corticotropin-releasing Hormone) and ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic releasing hormone) so that adrenaline and non-adrenaline secretion decrease, which has an impact on heart contraction activity and decreased blood pressure. Elderly empowerment with progressive muscle relaxation can control blood pressure, specifically systolic, after one week of exercise. This exercise must be included in the PSTW exercise program, which can be done regularly to control blood pressure.

Abstract

The elderly are at higher risk of developing various degenerative diseases. Hypertension is often called the "Silent Killer", which can unwittingly cause death due to complications without proper treatment. Therefore, hypertension health education is expected to increase knowledge of the elderly, and hypertension exercise training can help reduce complications. This community service program aims to increase the elderly's knowledge of hypertension and be able to apply the hypertension exercise method at Wisma Cempaka UPT PSTW Jember. The community service method uses a gerontic nursing care approach which includes various stages, namely an initial survey related to hypertension through blood pressure checks in the elderly, then carrying out hypertension counseling with counseling methods and interactive discussions, then continuing with training on how to apply hypertension exercise by students and a joint demonstration with the Wisma elderly. Cempaka UPT PSTW Jember. The results of this activity indicate an increase in knowledge among the elderly regarding hypertension from 42% to 75% at the end of the activity. The average decrease in elderly blood pressure is ten mmHg in systolic and five mmHg in diastole after exercise hypertension for three consecutive days. This proves the importance of health education and training in the form of hypertension exercise to be carried out continuously in controlling blood pressure and minimizing the risk of hypertension complications in the elderly. Therefore, monitoring of exercise training and sustainable hypertension health education is expected to be continued regularly to maintain the health of the elderly.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases are diseases that are not transmitted from one individual to another. The most common non-communicable diseases that occur in the community are hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, hyperuricemia, and hyperglycemia. Because the disease is individual, the only way to find the case is to check directly with a health facility. One of the efforts that can be made is with activities in the form of free health checks to screen for certain diseases with simple examinations. This activity was carried out at the Village Hall with the target age of the elderly, namely for those over 45 years old. Participants were gathered in one place and then examined ranging from anthropometry such as height and weight, vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature as well as some simple blood tests such as cholesterol, uric acid and blood sugar. Participants who were found to have abnormal examination values, they were given education in the form of treatment and correct lifestyle information to control the disease or complaints experienced. This activity was quite enthusiastic from the community with the number of participants who participated was 28 people. In the results of the data found, it was found that 6 people with hyperuricemia, 6 people with hyperglycemia, 6 people with hyperglycemia and 1 person with hyperglycemia. Abstract

The problem of drugs in Indonesia is still urgent and complex. Drug abuse is included in one of the special forms of juvenile delinquency. The purpose of this study was to reduce the prevalence of drug abuse among adolescents by counseling MTs and MA students. The research method used a multistage random sampling method, namely giving a pre-test and post-test at the time of counseling. The population in this study were MTs and MA students in Randegansari Village with a total of 140 people. The results showed that before drug counseling, almost all MTs and MA students had a low level of knowledge, namely 95 people (67.86%). However, after counseling related to basic knowledge, dangers, impacts and threats of criminal law of drug acts, almost all students increased their knowledge level, namely 108 people (77.14%). The conclusion shows that students' knowledge of drugs is influenced by the surrounding environment such as the family environment, school environment, and the community environment where adolescents actualize themselves. Suggestions in overcoming drug abuse require efforts and support from all parties to achieve the expected goals. Prevention and control of drugs can still be done to prevent use and help adolescents who have fallen into drug abuse.
