Abstract

The study focuses on International Relation behavior of Gulf Trucial states seeking security in the wake of perceived regional and international threats. The Gulf States including and other despotic regimes in the region have been found abandoning wider regional Interest and joining Western Power and recently even Israel which is political most contested regime in the region. Gulf States are cluster of small but rich and militarily weaker states. This makes them dependent on big or influential regional and International powers. The personal and despotic family rules in Gulf state have mostly been depended for their sustenance on internationally powerful states for their defense and protection against internal and external threats. The native political movements like Muslim Brotherhood Palestinians who are supported mutually make a case of internal threats for the authoritative and despotic Gulf States Emirates. The movements in Middle East seek wider change on their agenda and the end of concentration of power The study find that personal and despotic rules ignore major political issue and their settlement to sustain their grip on power. This facilitates a short term sustenance at the cost of a bigger regional threat. This political trending of the Gulf States also entails domestic discontent which can sow seeds for future political uncertainties and discontent leading to regional security dilemma and escalated conflicts and confrontations. Paper recommends good relations conditioned with mutual reciprocity and accommodation for sustaining peace in the region to have positive impact on International peace.

Abstract

The Dutch colonial government in applying the Cultuurstelsel policy in Java in 1830 used traditional Javanese patterns of power to persuade farmers in certain regions to be willing to work in export plantations and surrender a portion of their land to be planted with governorate crops. Based on the description above, it would be interesting to see further about the implementation of the cultivation system in several afdeeling areas or regencies in Java because in Pacitan, East Java, it is said to have an impact on prosperity and welfare for farmers. On the other hand, in other regions, in Afdeeling Demak and Grobogan, Central Java, the opposite happened, namely that the implementation of the forced cultivation system actually had an impact on misery and poverty among the population. Regardless of whether Cultuurstelsel should be valued positively or negatively, most historians agree that the system had been one of the most important parts of Dutch colonialism in the Dutch East Indies from 1830 to 1870. Some at that time even thought that cultuurstelsel was the best colonial model that can be imagined.

Abstract

Executive Orders are not invoked as a matter of course by the President or Governors heading the Executive Cabinet. These orders are exercisable when heads of the executive branch of government see for their needfulness and for smooth running of their governmental programmes or policies. Every Executive order must carry the force of law for it to be valid or to be duly recognised by the other branches of government which if not, the latter may question its constitutionality. The advantages of executive orders are very innumerable to mention however it has been said that the use of executive orders have assaulted the concept of separation of powers which is embedded in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended)as adopted from the United States of America. This paper focuses on the meaning and historical antecedent of executive orders in Nigeria, legal regime or statutory provisions of executive orders in Nigeria, executive orders versus doctrine of separation of power, challenges of executive orders under the 1999 constitution (as amended), praxis of executive orders under the Nigeria fourth republic and lastly is the conclusion and recommendations made thereto. To achieve these, the writers will make use of relevant materials at their disposal.

Abstract

Robert Cox has been the most well-known, and prominent intellectual as well, by articulating the building process of historical bloc within the context of the emergence of social forces initially in the nation-state, and his attempt has culminated in the unquestionable power of transnational power in global political economy for those who has vested interest in the identity of hegemony. By the article, we present a tentative attempt in effect by such a hypothetical assumption that the power configurations of social forces, state and world order fell default in their challenge against the unprecedented Virus pandemic while the virus itself has no such configurations as material capability, idea and institutions. The Covid 19 set up its own hegemony literally. The global politics has always been exposed to independent variables not predicted even though collectively or individually measures are taken by states. In this study, we will talk about the emergence of a new hegemonic power with the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Abstract

Traditional music is music that has the characteristics of a tribe or layer of society. One of the traditional Karo music is Keteng-keteng which is played by beating with two sticks. The keteng-keteng is made of buluh belin (large bamboo), the tip and base have bamboo skin. So far, keteng-keteng is made from one segment of bamboo, therefore the aim of this research is to develop keteng-keteng from one bamboo segment to three bamboo sections (telu ngawan) using electricity. These kettles will later use an electronic equalizer, so that the sound of the kettles produced is really an equalizer standard, which can be adjusted according to the color of the sound on the middle bass and treble. The keteng-keteng being developed is a combination of the three-segmented ketengs, the daluna-ketengs and the multi-purpose kettles, which are combined into three sections of bamboo. This is the first time this merger has been done by researchers. From this combination, two gung characters are found. which is different because Beruna uses vibrating aids while Daluna does not use vibrating aids.

Poverty is a phenomenon that is affecting our society negatively as its scorch keeps on biting harder despite the rate in which revenue is rising in Nigeria. Gombe State is one of the states that is categorized among the poorest in Nigeria for a decade. Poverty is affecting the socioeconomic and political wellbeing of Gombe State in many perspectives. This paper examined the issues and perspectives of poverty in Gombe State particularly the causes, manifestations and strategies of alleviation. The work used primary and secondary sources of data collection where some respondents were selected through a simple random sampling for questionnaire administration and other key stakeholders were identified for an in-depth interview. The secondary source involves documents such as books, reports, journals and internet sources. The data obtained were presented and analysed using statistical tools such as tables and charts where applicable. The paper concludes that; poverty is caused mainly due to poor government’s macro and micro economic policies and that poverty level in Gombe State has reached an unbearable index of 74.6 % according to the research and also the National Bureau of Statistics report which ranked the State the third most poor State in the country in 2015. The paper recommends that, for poverty to be alleviated in Gombe State, there should be a comprehensive and integrated approach via well designed policies such as Conditional Cash Transfer, development of agricultural sector, small scale industrialisation and youth empowerment schemes. It is also recommended that some models like Malaysian social investment and empowerment should be considered.

Abstract

Post-press freedom in Indonesia (the passing of Law No. 40/1999) gave rise to a variety of new problems, ranging from widespread violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics (KEJ) to violence against journalists. In fact, the Press Law No. 40/1999 was actually born to provide fresh air for press freedom in the country and to provide the widest possible space for press operations that were previously locked in the shackles of power. The results of the discussion found that violations of the journalistic code of ethics tended to be committed by young journalists who were still raw with the articles of the code of ethics and the Press Law No. 40/1999. Forms of violation are sometimes reluctant to confirm sources, using fictitious anonymous sources, do not keep the identity of victims of immoral crimes secret, use bar language, and tend to attack individual privacy, and harass SARA - things that were previously very sacred. The results of the study prove that between press freedom and violations of journalistic code of ethics and violence against journalists have a significant relationship, while violations of journalistic codes of ethics with violence against journalists also have a significant relationship, but between press freedom and violence against journalists have a relative relationship during the conflict. Aceh does not have a causal relationship, but after the peace of GAM Aceh - RI there is a very significant relationship, in fact it was carried out by former fighting elements in Aceh GAM and the TNI / Polri. To avoid continuing victims, journalists in Indonesia, especially Aceh is expected to be able to apply the Proportional and Professional Concept (2P); Professional as a basic competency in journalistic and proportional operations is a provision to face various threats and dangers in fieldo perations.
