Abstract

The World Health Organization reported that at least 80% of populations rely on traditional medicine and medicinal plants for their primary health care. Due to their phytochemical compounds, the plants of the Aloe genus are reported to have high potential antiCovid-19 (and antioxidant properties. The aim of this study is to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant activity of some Malagasy endangered species of Aloe genus. The ethanolic extract of few Aloe of Madagascar leaf extracts was fractionated by liquid-liquid partition using hexane. In total 18 different fractions from 9 species have been used to determine their antioxidant activity through in vitro model by using 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Both hexanic extract and aqueous extract displayed antioxidant activities in four species. The most evident antioxidant activity was expressed by A. helenae.

Abstract

Medicinal plant is an important element of indigenous medical systems all over the world. The ethno botany provides a rich resource for natural drug research and development. Carica papaya is used in Traditional Medicine since a long time. Our investigations started by a search of relevant literature on the plant species. Databases such as Science direct, PubMed, Google Scholar and Scopus were used successively to retrieve the articles on C. papaya. The chemical structures of isolates compounds from this plant were drawn using ChemBioDraw Ultra 12.0 software package. Finally, bibliographical references were made using bibliographical software "Mendeley". Results show that the plant C. papaya contains various secondary metabolites, minerals and vitamins. The plant species is reported to possess various pharmacological properties like anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-diabetic, anti-hyperlipidemic, larvicidal effects, etc. These pharmacological activities could due to the presence of various phytochemicals present in this plant species. The present review can therefore help inform future scientific research towards the development of novel drugs of relevance from C. papaya to combat various ailments including Sickle cell disease.

Abstract

The epidemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in China and a number of countries had led to the Covid-19 pandemic declaration by WHO. The aim of this study is to assess the evidence and to report the effectiveness of Covid-19 containment and mitigation measures among the affected countries. A comprehensive search strategy was performed using the MESH terms of “Novel coronavirus,” “Novel coronavirus 2019”, “2019 nCoV”, “Covid-19”, “Wuhan coronavirus”, “SARS-CoV-2”, “Containment”, “Mitigation” and “Control”. After completion of the initial screening, 922 articles were excluded for the following reasons: the article did not meet the inclusion criteria (N = 862), the article was a duplicate (N = 60). The remaining 72 articles were screened at the full-text level. After full review for relevancy, 41 articles were excluded and a total of 31 articles were selected for scoping review. The two most successful countries that managed to control this pandemic were Hong Kong and South Korea. While, the United States of America (USA) and Brazil are the countries yet unable to significantly reduce the Covid-19 cases. The aggressiveness of government efforts and the compliance among the population are the main factors contributing to the effectiveness of the containment and mitigation measures implemented.

Abstract

The existing condition of potable water in the city of Qom and its adjacent villages needs improvement, both for the quantity as well as the quality. On one side, the excess use of wells has decreased the level of underground water, resulting to Penetration of salty water from the neighboring salt lake into the underground water and therefore, lowering the quality of potable water, and on the other side, during the recent years the consumption of water has increased due to growth of the city population. Because of these factors, the improvement of quality and overcoming the shortage of drinkable water in the city of Qom and its adjacent villages, have turned to an urgent need. To respond to the above-mentioned needs, some studies have been carried out by a number of consultants during the past years. In addition, based on such studies, certain projects have been implemented to provide new sources of potable water for the city of Qom.this paper aims at investigating the existing condition of potable water in the city of Qom. The goal of this water treatment is to supply the drinkable water for agriculture and industry and producing the energy.

Abstract

Drug allergy is characterized by hypersensitivity reactions to pharmacological agents, having an immune mechanism of development. In these reactions antibody and/or activated T cells are directed against medications or their metabolites. This problem is rather urgent for practical healthcare, as over 7% of people suffer from drug allergy. A 54-year old male presented at the emergency room Hospital Zainoel Abidin with redness and swelling of the bodies of a burning sensation, itching pain. In the detailed anamnesis taken from the patient, it was learned that 1 days previously he had consulted a nurse with the fever and 60 min after examination had been prescribed with acid mefenamic. Hypersensitivity immune reactions to medications, according to the present concepts, are divided into immediate reactions (within 1–6 h after starting the preparation manifesting with various forms—from mild to life-threatening symptoms of anaphylaxia), or delayed reactions (several hours to several days after the offending medication is started, manifesting clinically with exanthemas in the majority of cases). Drug allergy should be prevented.Steps to prevent allergic drug reactions include (1) a careful history to determine host risk factors, (2) avoidance of cross-reactive drugs, (3) use of predictive tests when available, (4) proper and prudent prescribing of drugs (especiallyantibiotics) that are frequently associated with adverse reactions,(5) use of oral drugs when possible, and (6) documentation of drug allergy in the patient’s medical record.

Abstract

Hypospadia is genitalia externa congenital anomaly in male. Recurrent chordee is one of most complication often happen in hypospadias correction. One-step urethroplasty in recurrent chordee is very challenging due to formed massive fibrosis. Correction surgery goals is to release chordee and moving meatus urethra externa to glans tip, and could be done by one-step or two-step. We report patient, 13 years old boy came with chief complain urinate from scrotal region. Patient was diagnose with scrotal hypospadia. Patient done chordee excision previously, but penis still not straight. Then, we perform one-step urethroplasty rechordee excision with local flap. Patient was follow-up one week postoperative, wound in good condition, and dehiscent wasn’t found. Urinary catheter released after three weeks. Evaluation also done in one month postoperative, and found no fistel. One-step urethroplasty rechordee excision was perform in scrotal hypospadi with local urethroplasty flap technique. Evaluation from beginning until two months postoperative found no fistel and urinate in straight line.

Abstract

A 52 year old male patient presented with complaints of upper right abdominal pain since 1 month ago, worsening in the last 1 day. Fever has been complained of since 1 month ago, fever fluctuates indefinitely, comes down with fever-reducing drugs, complained of weakness. There is nausea and vomiting, vomiting 1-2 times per day, black vomit like coffee is not there. Complained about weight loss. BAK is like strong tea. Liquid defecation has been complained of since 5 weeks ago, initially liquid defecation was accompanied by mucus and blood with a frequency of 3-4 times per day for 3 days, at that time the patient went to the health center and complaints were reduced and now liquid CHAPTER 1-2 times a day is yellow, liquid, no mucus, no blood for the past 1 month. The patient is an agricultural instructor with his daily activities going down to the farm. History. History of diabetes mellitus denied. Patients diagnosed with multiple pyogenic liver abscess were treated at RSUDZA and received bed rest therapy, 1800 kcal / day soft food diet, IVFD NaCl 0.9% 20 drops per macro minute, metronidazole drip 500 mg every 8 hours, ciprofloxacin 2x 500 mg, intravenously paracetamol 1 gram every 8 hours. The patient was treated for 17 days, on the 10th day of hospitalization the patient was performed a laparotomy and multiple incisions of the liver abscess, purulent abscess fluid mixed with blood. The abscess fluid was cultured as a result of Entamoeba Colli, and metronidazole antibiotic therapy was continued. During treatment, the patient experienced clinical improvement, the patient was opened surgical sutures on the 10th and 15th day after laparotomy, the surgical wound improved, the patient experienced clinical improvement, currently the patient is still a control at the Internal Medicine and Surgery Department at Cut Nyak Dhien Meulaboh Hospital.

Abstract

Parturition pain is a problem that is felt by a mother during labor that causes excessive fear and anxiety to the mother and her family so that intervention is needed in dealing with pain. The purpose of this study to analyze the effectiveness of combination of aromatherapy and back-massage on parturition pain during the first stage of active phase of normal labor. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups with a sample of 60 mothers. This research was conducted at a community health center that provides maternity services in Pontianak City. Pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design was conducted where the researcher did not do randomization. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The test results showed that the intervention group had a value of ρ 0,0001 <0.05 and the control group produced a value of ρ 0.001 <0.05. This means there are differences in the level of pain before and after treatment. Likewise, the Mann-Whitney U-Test statistical test results showed a value of ρ 0.001 <0.05, which means that there are differences in pain intensity between the group of mothers who were given a combination of aromatherapy and back massage and the other group of mothers who got deep breathing relaxation during the process of labor. The combination of aromatherapy and back massage is effective in reducing pain in normal labor in the first phase of the active phase. This therapy is expected to be used as an alternative intervention for a mother in active phase of labor, especially to reduce the intensity of pain in the first phase of the active phase of normal labor.

Abstract

The Aceh Tamiang office area is one of the office areas in Kuala Simpang which consists of various offices in the Aceh Tamiang area. The purpose of this research is to identify the drainage condition of the existing primary drainage channel which accommodates runoff discharge, the shape and direction of the flow in the inundation channel in the Aceh Tamiang Kuala Simpang office area, which is expected to help solve the problem of flooding in the 832 m3 / second. And for the channel capacity in this primary drainage drainage of 0.829 m3 / sec, the value is smaller than the planned flood discharge (Qr). Rainfall intensity (I) of 126,432 mm / hour. The plan flood discharge (Qr) for a 5-year return period yields 2,551 m3 / second and the value for channel discharge capacity (Qs) is obtained from the calculation of 2,216 m3 / second. This value is smaller than the value of the planned flood discharge.area. From the results of research conducted by the Aceh Tamiang Kuala Simpang office area is a location with a fairly high degree of rainfall, with a rainfall intensity (I) of 126,432 mm / hour and a flood discharge plan for a 5-year return period obtained a result of 0.

Abstract

The aims of this study discussed overview of body mass index and blood pleasure in Medical Science Faculty Student. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional study design, namely how to approach, observe or collect data at the same time 10. Based on the research results, it was found that the majority of BMI students from the Faculty of Medicine UNPRI Medan class 2017 were normal, namely 64 people (64.6%), then followed by students with an overweight BMI of 29 people (29.3%), underweight and obese respectively. only 3 people (3.0%). Based on the results of the study, it was found that the majority of the blood pressure of the 2017 UNPRI Medan Faculty of Medicine students was completely normal (100%).
