Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is still one of the most common health problems caused mortality is currently high and become global concern. Diseases that attack the respiratory tract organs are caused by various factors, both internally and externally. The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors for the incidence of ARI in young children or called toodlers aged 1-5 years at the Abepura Health Center, Jayapura City. The research method used quantitative research with a cross sectional study which was carried out in January-June 2021. The research population was 937 mothers with toddlers and 90 mothers as the samples was taken by slovin formula. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate using Chi-Square test. The results of the study found that as many as 24 toddlers (26.7%) suffered from ARI. Factors that have a significant relationship with the incidence of ARI in children under five are nutritional status of children (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; RP = 7.16; 95% CI = (3.79 – 13.52), immunization status (p-value = 0.002 < 0.05; RP = 3.16; 95% CI = (1.69-5.89) and family smoking habits (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; RP = 23.14; CI95% = (5 .83 – 91.82. Meanwhile, the factor of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.766 > 0.05; RP = 1.23; 95% CI = 0.60 – 2.52) was not found to be associated with the incidence of ARI. The local health center is advised to improve communication, information and education programs for mothers about the importance of maintaining nutritional status and providing complete immunizations and an approach to families to suppress smoking habits that can affect the health of toddlers.

Abstract

Celery is a herbal plant often used to lower blood pressure because some of the compounds in this plant has a role as an anti-hypertension and the side effect is quite minor. The freshness of celery plant only lasts for 8 to 12 hours after being harvested, so it needs to be developed into a ready-to-drink beverage product such as a powder drink. The purpose of this study was to determine the formulation, antioxidant profile and shelf life of celery-based powder drink. This study is laboratory based descriptive. Celery-based powder drink was screened for its possible antioxidant compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic, triterpenoid, steroids, and saponins. The DPPH assay is used to analyze antioxidant activities. ASLT method with Arrhenius design is used to determine the shelf life of celery-based powder drink. The changes in the quality of the product were being observed for 14 days in 3 different storage temperature. Results: The antioxidant screening tests show the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic, triterpenoid, steroids, and saponins in celery-based powder drink. Moreover, this sample showed the high antioxidant activities with the IC50 value of 70,74 ppm. The shelf life of celery-based powder drink can not be calculated because the water content of the sample is higher than SNI standards. Celery based powder drink contain antioxidants and showed the high antioxidant activities. Drying process needs to be done using other methods to produce better quality of powder drinks.

Abstract

Wood sawmill workers were at risk for impaired lung function, this is due to one of the work processes, namely sawing which produces wood dust. The previous survey showed about 60% of respondents had impaired lung function. The study aimed to determine associated factors of lung function of sawmill processed wood workers in the village of Pasir Panjang. This study was a quantitative with a cross sectional design. The research sample was 40 workers in the Processed Wood Sawmill, Pasir Panjang Village. The sample size was determined by the total population. Data analysis used chi square test. The results showed about 85.0% of respondents had abnormal lung function, 67.5% of respondents had a long working period, 55.0% of respondents smoked and 60% of respondents were at risk. Bivariate analysis showed there was a relationship between years of service (p-value=0.010) and age (p-value=0.029) with lung function in Processed Wood Sawmill workers in Pasir Panjang Village, Jambi City. There was no relationship between smoking habit and lung function in sawmill workers in Pasir Panjang, Jambi City (p-value=0.073). It was expected that the owner of the processed wood sawmill to measure the dust content at least once a year and install an exhaust fan with a large blower capacity in the production area

Abstract

Traffic accidents are still a global problem today. Indonesia is one of the countries that has a high level of traffic accidents. The number of traffic accidents in Jambi City in 2020 was 327 accidents, while traffic accidents in Paal Merah District were 53 accidents. To prevent accidents, drivers must apply safety riding in driving. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with safety riding behavior on motorcyclists in Paal Merah sub-district. The study used a cross sectional design. The research was conducted in June 2021 on the Paal Merah sub-district highway located at the Paal Merah gas station in Jambi City. The research sample was motorcycle riders in Paal Merah District as many as 96 riders. The sampling technique was accidental sampling. The research instrument is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi square test. A total of 53.1% of respondents have good safety riding behavior, 51.0% of respondents have good knowledge, 51.0% of respondents have good attitudes and 65.6% of respondents have good perceptions. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p=0.000), attitude (p=0.000) and perception (p=0.000) with safety riding behavior in Paal Merah District, Jambi City in 2021. It is expected that motorcycle riders always do safety riding when driving. even at close range and there is no inspection from the police.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS infection is a chronic disease that attacks the immune system which can be controlled by adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between adherence to taking ARV drugs and the quality of life of PWHA at the Limapuluh Public Health Center, Pekanbaru City. This type of quantitative analytic research with a cross sectional approach. The population is 125 people living with HIV who are outpatient at the Limapuluh Public Health Center Pekanbaru. The research sample is a minimum sample of 30 respondents and the sampling technique is accidental sampling using a questionnaire. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate. The results showed that the majority of adherence to ARV medication were 29 people (96.7%) and the majority of people living with HIV with very good quality of life were 28 people (93.3%). The results of the chi square test obtained a significant relationship between adherence to taking ARV drugs and the quality of life of PWHA p value = 0.000 0.05, then Ha is accepted. PWHA is expected to maintain adherence to ARV therapy as recommended by health workers in order to improve the quality of life of PWHA

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that is often found in children aged 12-36 months. This study aims to determine the determinants of stunting in toddlers which include family income, exclusive breastfeeding, and parenting. The type of research used is quantitative with an observational analytic approach and a cross sectional study design. The total population is 1,280 children under five, a sample of 76 respondents taken by proportional random sampling technique to represent 10 villages. The statistical test used was the Chi square test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that there was a relationship between family income (p value = 0.001), exclusive breastfeeding (p value 0.006), and parenting style (p value = 0.013) with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The conclusion of this study shows that family income, exclusive breastfeeding and parenting are related to the incidence of stunting. So it is suggested to mothers to make more use of existing health services and pay attention to the nutritional intake of toddlers and exclusively breastfeed until the age of 6 months.
