Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is still one of the most common health problems caused mortality is currently high and become global concern. Diseases that attack the respiratory tract organs are caused by various factors, both internally and externally. The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors for the incidence of ARI in young children or called toodlers aged 1-5 years at the Abepura Health Center, Jayapura City. The research method used quantitative research with a cross sectional study which was carried out in January-June 2021. The research population was 937 mothers with toddlers and 90 mothers as the samples was taken by slovin formula. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate using Chi-Square test. The results of the study found that as many as 24 toddlers (26.7%) suffered from ARI. Factors that have a significant relationship with the incidence of ARI in children under five are nutritional status of children (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; RP = 7.16; 95% CI = (3.79 – 13.52), immunization status (p-value = 0.002 < 0.05; RP = 3.16; 95% CI = (1.69-5.89) and family smoking habits (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; RP = 23.14; CI95% = (5 .83 – 91.82. Meanwhile, the factor of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.766 > 0.05; RP = 1.23; 95% CI = 0.60 – 2.52) was not found to be associated with the incidence of ARI. The local health center is advised to improve communication, information and education programs for mothers about the importance of maintaining nutritional status and providing complete immunizations and an approach to families to suppress smoking habits that can affect the health of toddlers.

Abstract

As an effort to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, various countries have implemented health protocol policies such as work-from-home, social distancing, and face mask-wearing in public places. However, monitoring compliance with the policy is still difficult, especially for the face mask policy. It is still managed by humans and is costly. Thus, this research proposes a face mask-wearing detection using a soft-margin Support Vector Machine (SVM). There are three main stages: feature selection and preprocessing, model training, and evaluation. During the first stage, the dataset of 3833 images (1915 images with face masks and 1918 images without face masks) was prepared to be used in the training stage. The training stage was conducted using SVM added with the soft-margin objective to overcome images that could not be separated linearly. At the final stage, evaluation was conducted using a confusion matrix with 10 folds cross-validation. Based on the experiments, the proposed method shows a performance accuracy of 91.7%, a precision of 90.3%, recall of 93.5%, and an F-measure of 91.8%. Our method also worked fast, taking only 0.025 seconds to process a new image. It is 7.12 times faster than Deep Learning which requires 0.18 seconds for one classification.

Abstract

Malaria is still a public health problem in the world, including in Indonesia. Positive deviation behavior is one of the factors that influence the incidence of malaria. So this study aims to determine the effect of positive deviation on the incidence of malaria in Jayapura City. This community service was carried out in the Mandala Village area, Jayapura City, Papua Province. The community service method uses the Community Empowerment method using Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Sampling using Exautive sampling (sampling technique when all members of the population are used as samples). The data collected will be analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. The results of the quantitative analysis showed that the most influential factor on the incidence of malaria was positive deviation (p=0.000). The results of the qualitative analysis show that positive deviation behaviors to prevent malaria are using mosquito nets when sleeping, wearing long sleeves when working and when going out at night, and burning trash and coconut belts. The positive deviation approach can be used as an effort to prevent and control malaria through the active role of health cadres or community leaders. Keywords: Malaria, Positive Deviance, Behavior, Prevention

Abstract

Adolescent alcohol consumption is an important and complex issue as it not only impacts health but also fuels risky sex, violence, and drug use. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and peer conformity on alcohol consumption behavior among adolescents in Jayapura City. This type of research uses quantitative methods with a Cross-Sectional Study design. The total population was 2552 male students in 5 junior high schools and five high schools in Jayapura City, and the sample calculation obtained 343 respondents. The sampling technique used proportional stratified random sampling and primary data collection using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis using the Spearman Correlation Test. The results of the analysis were obtained from 343 adolescents; most respondents had knowledge in the good category, namely 200 respondents (58.3%), and as many as 273 respondents (79.6%) in the category of peer conformity, the majority of which were in the moderate category. The correlation test results of the relationship between knowledge factors and alcohol-drinking behavior in adolescents obtained a p-value of 0.032 with a value of r = 0.116. So, it means that there is a relationship between knowledge and adolescent drinking behavior, but the strength of the relationship is very weak, with a negative correlation. As for the peer conformity variable, the p-value is 0.227, meaning that there is no significant relationship between peer conformity and adolescent drinking behavior. Health agencies are advised to strengthen the PIK-R program in schools to prevent adolescent alcohol consumption.
