Abstract

The aim of this reasearchwas to develop assessment tools based on class for BiologyScience subject on VIII th grade public Junior High School. This study held on Januaryuntil March 2014. This kind of study was Research and Development. Thisdevelopment is based on ADDIE models which consists of 5 phase, they are Analyze,Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. This subject of reasearch wasKI dan KD and main materialis on VIII th grade. This reasearch was analyzed bydescriptive. Validity of assessment tools was determined by average score fromvalidator. 3,6 for written assessment, 3,79 for behavior assessment, 3,86 for workassessment, 3,84 product assessment, 3,91 project assessment, 3,95 for selfassessment, 3,95 for portofolio assessment and all were categorized in very valid.Based on result of reasearch can be concluded that validity result of assessment toolsbased on class for Biology science subject on VIII th grade got very valid category andcould be implemented in learning process.Keywords: Development Reasearch, Assessment Tools Based on Class, BiologyScience Subject

Abstract

The research aims to know the influence of type of feed buffaloes to the quality ofcurd in Kampar Regency are carried out in the laboratory of Biology EducationFaculty of Teacher Training and Education and Chemical Result of Fisheries Facultyof fisheries University of Riau from July-September 2013. The research method usedis experimental descriptive. Samples of the milk comes from different types of feedthat is fodder grasses, grass-added rice straw, and grass-added rice and coconut milk.The research parameters include total bacterial colonies, protein content, fat content,and pH of curd were analyzed by descriptive. The results of research showed that thehighest total bacterial colonies 3,3 x 10 7 Cfu/ml and the highest acidity is pH 5contained in the curd with the type of fodder grass-added rice straw, the highestprotein content found in curd from type of fodder grasses 9,09%, and the highest fatcontent found in curd from type of fodder grass-added rice and coconut milk 12,95%.Keywords: Curds, Types of Feed

Abstract

Research has been carried out in the Laboratory of Biology Teacher Training andEducation Faculty of University of Riau from April to August 2013. The goal of thisresearch is to determine the best type of mulch to trigger the vegetative growth ofsweet corn (Zea mays L. var. saccharata) and produce module on the concept ofdevelopment and growth concept for high school students. This research usedexperimental methods with randomized block design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3replications so that there are 15 experimental units. Treatment are A 0 = without mulch,A 1 = mulch reeds, A 2 = mulch palm empty fruit bunches, A 3 = mulch black plastic, A 4 =white plastic bag. Biological parameters measured were plant height, stem diameter,fresh weight and dry weight. Physic-chemical parameters are soil temperature, soilmoisture, and soil pH. The data were analyzed by ANOVA and tested further byDMRT at 5% level. The results showed that the use of mulch influence on stemdiameter and dry weight of sweet corn plants, but not in the height and wet weight ofthe plant. The use of oil palm empty fruit bunches mulch gave best result on theparameter plant height (86,54 cm), stem diameter (1,80 cm), fresh weight (191,7 g)and sweet corn plant dry weight (43,33 g ). The results of this research can bedeveloped into module on the concept of plant growth for high school students withthe title of “Pengaruh Beberapa Jenis Mulsa Terhadap Pertumbuhan VegetatifTanaman Jagung”.Keywords: Corn, Dry weight, Mulch, Module, Plant height, Stem diameter, Vegetativegrowth, Wet weight

Abstract

A field research has been conducted to observe the growth characteristics of PhysicNut (Jatropha curcas L.) cultivated on bauxite mined soil in the Biology NaturalLaboratory, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of the University of Riau,Pekanbaru. Parameters observed every single week include plant height, stemdiameter, and number of leaves, whereas at the end of the testing carried outmeasurements of leaf area, canopy dry weight, and root volume. The pH of the soilwas analyzed at the beginning and at the end of the test, while the temperature andhumidity were analyzed every single week. Growth characteristics were observedduring the 9-week period showed that the average height of Physic Nut plants reach42,9 cm and the relative growth rate (RGR) 3,40 cm/week. A mean diameter of 1,26cm rod with RGR 0.33 cm/week. The mean number of leaves around 9,78 cm 2 2,20RGR strands with strands/week. The total leaf area of Physic Nut directlyproportional to the volume of the dry weight of roots and canopy. The results of non-experimental studies can be utilized to improve the quality of teaching biology atSenior High School in the form of Syllabus development, Lesson Plan (LP), StudentAssignment Sheet (SAS) I and II, and Assessment Sheet. The review of the productdesign Syllabus, LP, SAS I and II, and Assessment Sheet shows that all the draftclassified Very Good, except for the Syllabus which was considered Good. In order tofind out the plant productivity in bauxite mined soil, the observation period in thisstudy can be extended to the generative phase. Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of the Student Profile Task CompletedCourse In Learning Program Development Biology (P3B) In Biology EducationProgram, University of Riau. This study was conducted in May 2012 to November2012 at the Faculty of Teacher Education Study Program of Biology, University ofRiau. This research is descriptive. The population of this study is the first semesterstudents and students of semester 2011/2012 2012/2013 using the total sample. Theparameters of this study consisted of primary data, lesson plans and worksheets onstudent class of 2010 and secondary data, lesson plans, worksheets, InstructionalMaterials, Media, and Assessment Tool for the student of 2009 Based on the resultsobtained for RPP research on student semester 2011/2012 (78.25%), student semester2012/2013 (70.09%), designing student worksheets on odd semester 2011/2012(74.82%), student semester 2012/2013 (60.06%), designing teaching materials (76 ,41%) medium (67.50%), and assessment tools (77.50%). It can be concluded that theability profile class of 2009 students who have taken classes in the first semester2011/2012 P3B in completing the task subjects P3B higher than regular student classof 2010 who have taken the course P3B in odd semester 2012-2013.Keywords: Profile, Development Biology Learning Program, Learning Tool

Abstract

Descriptive research has been conducted to determine the skills of the at the courseTechnique and Management of Laboratory based authentic assessment (AuthenthicAssessment). This study was conducted from September to December 2013. Subjectswere students of the 1st semester of the academic year 2013/2014, amounting to 54people consisting of 7 men and 47 woman. Parameters measured were indicators ofprocess skills of students with the skills of observation, classification, communication,inference, predicting, formulating hypotheses, and interpretation of data. The averagepercentage of process skill of the student in the course Technique and Management ofLaboratory is 83.24 (excellent category). Percentage of observation skills are 85.31(excellent category), skill classification is 83.30 (excellent category), communicationskills are 79.80 (good categories), is 79.22 inference skills (good categories), theprediction skill is 88.29 (excellent category), skills to formulate hypotheses was 86.07(excellent category), and interpretation skills are 80.83 (both categories). Abstract

Conducted a research to find the effectiveness of rhizosphere Actinomycetes bacteriaand Typha angustifolia plant addition to degrade palm oil liquid waste. Researchdesign using Constructed Treatment Wetlands models (CTW). The Parametersmeasured is the content of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological OxygenDemand (BOD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), the detention time, pH andtemperature. The results of this research showed that the Actinomycetes is a potentialmicrobe in degrading liquid waste. The use of Constructed Treatment Wetland (CTW)model is effective in degrading palm oil liquid waste with average content become432 mg/L for COD, 10 mg/L for BOD and 40 mg/L for TSS before it throws away tothe environment. Abstract

Has conducted research for a hand out submateri biotechnology high school students basedon plant tissue culture research Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa). The study includes two phases,namely: (1) Experiments to produce callus tissue culture experiments using completelyrandomized design (CRD) factorial. The first factor is the level of NAA treatment that is 0, 1,1.5, 2 and 3 mg/l. The second factor is the level of BAP treatment with 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5mg/l. Each treatment was repeated 3 times; (2) Preparation of handouts from the research as asource of learning the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, andEvaluation).Parameters measured were the percentage of growing explants, while appearingcallus and callus texture. Analysis of data growing percentage of explants with advancedANOVA and DMRT test at 5% level, while the current and emerging callus texturedescriptively. In a growing percentage of explants parameter combination treatment showed apercentage of 100 % are in treatment A 0 B 1,5 , A 1 B 0,5 - A 3 B 1,5 . For the current parametersappear callus treatment best combination found in treatment A 3 B 1,5 with a mean time of 2HSK appear callus (days after culture) and for the texture parameters of combinationtreatment showed callus crumb texture and white color found in treatment A 2 B 0,5 - A 3 B 1,5 , theresearch on callus growth can be used as a learning resource in the form of handouts for highschool level studentsKeywords : Handout, Tanaman Rosella, Kultur kalus, Hormon NAA dan BAP

Abstract

Action research has been done to improve student motivation and learning activitiesin the subjects of biology class X.3 SMAN 1 Siak Hulu using Cooperative LearningModel Type Word Square. The research was conducted in October and November2013. The subjects were X.3 grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Siak Hulu AcademicYear 2013/2014, amounting to 30 people consisting of 14 sons and 16 daughters.Parameters measured were student motivation and learning activities. The resultsshowed increased student motivation. Before the action the average studentmotivation is 2.92 (medium category), the first cycle increased to 4.21 (highcategory). In the second cycle students 'motivation has increased by an average of4.56 students' motivation (high category). The average percentage of student learningactivities showed an increase, in the first cycle category with a sufficient percentageof 66.95 % and the second cycle includes both categories with an average percentageof 84.45 %. From the results of this study indicate that learning through CooperativeLearning Model of Word Type Square can increase student motivation and learningactivities in the subjects of biology classes at SMAN X.3 1 Siak Hulu Academic Year2013/2014.Keywords: learning activities, cooperative, learning motivation, learning, wordsquare

Abstract

There have been studies to determine the application of the learning model ofProblem Based Learning (PBL) to the scientific attitude of students in learningbiology class XI IPA SMAN 4 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2013/2014. This study wasconducted in May 2014 with a sample of students of class XI IPA 1 (grade control) bythe number of students 33 and XI IPA 4 (experimental class) by the number ofstudents 32. The parameters used in the study of critical attitude, honest, open,conscientious and earnest. Collecting data using a scientific attitude observation sheet.Average scientific attitude in the experimental class was 84.39% in both categories,while the control class with 40.69% less category. Based on the research results, it canbe concluded that there are differences between the scientific attitude of studentsusing the experimental class learning model PBL in the learning process incomparison with the control class learning using lecture and discussion.Keywords: Scientific Attitudes, High School Senior, Problem Based Learning (PBL)
