Abstract

Tobacco use, both smoking, and chewing, is a risk factor for the development of oral mucosa changes. Tobacco in cigarettes causes an imbalance between antioxidant enzymes in metabolizing and detoxifying carcinogens in tobacco, which may cause changes in the oral epithelium that leads to lesions and dysplasia. This study aimed to assess and compare the cytological changes in the oral mucosal of smokers and non-smokers. Assessment of smokers based on the type of cigarette smoking, the degree of smoking, and the duration of smoking. The design study was a case-control study, as was a non-probability sampling method with consecutive sampling obtained from primary sources, including a questionnaire and an examination of epithelial cells under a microscope. The findings revealed that 14 smokers (38. 9%) had changes in oral epithelial cells. The Fisher Exact Test on smoking habits and changes in oral epithelial cells based on the type of cigarette smoked (p=0.001), smoking degree (p=0.000), and duration of smoking (p=0.003) indicated a relationship between smoking-influenced cytological changes in the oral mucosal.

Abstract

The experience of women being prisoners causes a decrease in self-esteem (self-esteem). Various studies have found that low self-esteem is associated with anxiety, depression, and suicide. This condition can worsen the mental health of female prisoners while in prison. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a treatment method that has been widely applied to psychological problems such as depression and suicide. This study aimed to identify the effects of CBT with rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on increasing the self-esteem of female prisoners. The study used the experimental method of giving REBT for five sessions to twelve female prisoners by using the measurement Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES). The results of the study showed an average increase in self-esteem research subjects before and after the intervention of rational emotive behavior therapy (p<0.05). This research shows the potential of REBT to improve the mental health of female prisoners.

Abstract

The threat of an earthquake has received wide attention, because it is sudden, predictable, but difficult to determine when it will occur. Predictions are based on the monitoring of seismic activity, historical records and observations. Disasters always have an adverse impact, such as damage to physical facilities and infrastructure (residential housing, office buildings, schools, places of worship, roads, bridges and others). Midwives are health workers who generally work in Health Center or in the community/community closest to the impact of the disaster. The contribution of the midwife to disaster/emergency risk reduction or preparedness is very important. Meanwhile, midwives are often not included in the workforce for disaster preparedness at local, national and international levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of knowledge and training on earthquake disaster preparedness on the preparedness of midwives in Central Aceh Regency. This study uses a survey research design that is analytic in nature with an approach cross-sectional which is measured at the same time as the research takes place and tested through hypothesis testing. The sample is 208 samples. The sampling method in this study was carried out proportionally in proportion to the total population spread across 14 Districts in Central Aceh Regency. The results of the study show that there is an influence of knowledge variables (p = 0.018), and disaster training (p = 0.000). This shows that knowledge and training have a relationship and influence on earthquake disaster preparedness in Central Aceh Regency.

The sample was divided into 2 groups, namely 30 people in the intervention group and 30 people in the control group. Data collection using MMAS-8 and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Data analysis with independent t-tests. The results of the study showed that the average value of medication adherence in the intervention group was higher after participating in the ACT program (Mean=20.54, SD=4.13) compared to the value before receiving treatment ((Mean=47.37, SD=3.68). These results indicate a difference between the mean value of medication adherence in the intervention group before and after treatment (t = -193, 09; p = 0.00). The mean value of quality of life in the intervention group was higher after participating in the ACT program (Mean=78.20, SD=11.17) compared to the value before receiving treatment (Mean=42.86, SD=7.61). These results show a difference between the mean value of quality of life in the intervention group before and after treatment (t = -55,42; p = 0,00).

Abstract

Dragon fruit contains fiber, which is good for digestion and oral health. Fiber can help clean teeth by binding to plaque and food particles that can cause gum disease. The vitamin C contained in dragon fruit is a powerful antioxidant and can help strengthen gum tissue. This can help prevent gum inflammation (gingivitis), which is the initial stage of gum disease. Because dragon fruit has a high water content, consuming this fruit can also help maintain oral moisture, which is important for healthy teeth. A dry mouth can increase the risk of plaque formation. This study aimed to determine the potential for consuming dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) against plaque reduction in students at SD Negeri 106806 Cinta Rakyat, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, Indonesia. This study is experimental research with a one-group pre and post-test approach. This study uses primary data obtained from measuring the degree of plaque on the teeth of research subjects. A total of 30 research subjects participated in this study, where the research subjects met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that the dental plaque scores of students at SD Negeri 106806, Cinta Rakyat, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, decreased significantly before and after eating dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus), with a value of p=0.0001 (p≤0.05). These results indicate that there is an influence of dragon fruit consumption (Hylocereus polyrhizus) on reducing dental plaque in research subjects.

The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between birth weight and perineal rupture in normal labor and outcomes p-value = 0.001 (p<0.05). However, there is no relationship between partus precipitatus and the incidence of perineal rupture in normal maternity women, with the results p-value = 0.192 (p>0.05).
