Abstract

Mortality from cervical cancer in Indonesia is getting higher because more than 70% of cases that come to the hospital are at an advanced stage. This phenomenon is due to the low coverage of early detection of cervical cancer including PAP smear tests and visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, and motivation of women of childbearing age in the examination of visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) in the working area of the rawamerta health center. This study is an observational analytic correlation with a cross-sectional research design. The research location was at the Rawamerta Health Center which is the working area of the Rawamerta Health Center, Karawang Regency. The sample in this study was taken from the total population with the Total Sampling technique, which was 137 people. Research samples were taken and met the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. The type of data collected is primary and secondary data. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the contigency coefficient test at a significance level of 0.05. And the results of the analysis using the chy-square test statistics by assessing the relationship between the motivation of women of childbearing age in VIA screening showed an Asymp.sign value of 0.00, because the p-value of 0.00 <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and motivation of women of childbearing age by performing VIA screening. It is expected that health workers can conduct health counseling and provide support to women of childbearing age in the working area of the rawamerta health center in order to increase the motivation for VIA screening.

Abstract

Contraception is a method used in the government's efforts to organize a Family Planning or “Keluarga Berencana” (KB) program. Contraceptives available in Indonesia are divided into hormonal contraceptives (pills, injections, and implants) and non-hormonal contraceptives such as IUDs or intra uterine devices. Of these two types of contraception, Indonesian people, especially women who use contraception, prefer hormonal contraception compared to non-hormonal contraception because it is considered more comfortable and easy to use. Among the three types of hormonal contraceptives, pills and injections are among the most widely used. However, in choosing between injections or birth control pills, some people are sometimes confused about which one to choose because they consider the side effects of both. So in this literature review, the authors compared the side effects between birth control pills and birth control injections from several existing journals. The results stated that there was no significant difference between the side effects of birth control pills or birth control injections and the duration of use was one of the factors that influenced the occurrence of side effects, especially the side effect of weight gain. So to overcome these side effects, the acceptors are expected to change the type of contraception if they have used >5 years and are advised to use non-hormonal contraception

Abstract

Background: WHO in February 2020 officially announced the name of the mysterious pneumonia as Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). COVID-19 is caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. The Corona virus can be transmitted from human to other humans and WHO on March 12 2020 finally declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. Laboratory tests are used to determine the degree of severity so that appropriate treatment will be carried out. Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between the Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) in COVID-19 patients at Hermina Hospital Medan Method: This research is an observational correlation analytic study with a cross-sectional approach conducted at Hermina Hospital Medan against 54 research samples. Results: From this study it is known that the majority of confirmed COVID-19 patients who came to Hermina Medan Hospital were in the age group of 41-50 years and were female. The NLR value in patients with confirmed COVID-19 with the lowest score was 1.4, the highest was 46.50, and the average was 12.91. The ESR value in patients with confirmed COVID-19 with the lowest score was 10, the highest was 92, and the median was 51.12. The results showed that there was a correlation between NLR and CRP values (p = <0.001) with a low correlation strength (r = 0.354) Conclusion: A correlation was found between NLR and ESR but with a low correlation strength, so it can be concluded that the use of ESR to replace ESR value as a biomarker in COVID-19 patients is less precise

Abstract

Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. Indonesia is a country with cancer rates that ranks 8th in Southeast Asia. Cancer that has the highest number of sufferers in Indonesian men is lung cancer, as much as 19.4 per 100,000 population, with an average death rate of 10.9 per 100,000. Meanwhile, for women, breast cancer is the highest cancer incidence rate, which is 42.1 per 100,000 population, with an average death rate of 17 per 100,000 population. Although chemotherapy remains a highly efficient way to treat cancer, it is the drawbacks related to its side effects that are often feared. Natural products such as plants are more beneficial for improving treatment results because they are safe and can minimize side effects on healthy cells. Herbal plants that are often associated with anticancer drugs are turmeric. Currently, several standardized methods have been developed to analyze curcumin in turmeric, and from these methods, there are advantages and disadvantages of each method. Therefore, selecting the analytical method is very important to get better results.

Abstract

Down syndrome is an autosomal disorder associated with involving mental and physical changes. The types of craniofacial phenotypes and dental anomalies in individuals with Down syndrome have been described extensively, but further elaboration of their impact of oral and craniofacial conditions still needs to be understood. In addition, in prosthodontic, oral rehabilitation with complete dentures and implants in patients with Down's syndrome still needs to be studied. The aim of this review is to describe that the oral and craniofacial manifestations may occur in patients with Down syndrome, and determine the effectiveness of oral rehabilitation treatments in patients with Down syndrome. The article was   conducted of two databases and were limited to the period from January 2016 to February 2022 with a combination of the following keywords: “Down Syndrome”, “oral manifestation”, “implant”, “prosthodontic treatment”. The results obtained were 194 articles found at the beginning of the search in both databases, and the 16 full text articles were selected for further review and discussion. The results of this study shows that Down syndrome causes several oral and craniofacial manifestations, dental caries risk, higher periodontal disease, dental abnormalities, soft and occlusal tissue, and the presence of a craniofacial complex. In prosthodontics, the choice of using removable dentures or implants must be adjusted to each patient's condition. Down syndrome is an autosomal disorder that has oral and craniofacial manifestations that must be a concern for health practitioners, especially dentists. In prosthodontics, oral rehabilitation with either complete dentures or implants in patients with Down's syndrome is the right choice, but it is necessary to consider the complications that may occur.

Abstract

The river is a source of clean water for the survival of living things. Unfortunately, this source of life is not well guarded. Indonesia has rivers that irrigate the mainland and are divided into main rivers and tributaries. The Citarum River is one of the longest main rivers in the Java region, originating in Cisanti, the slopes of Mount Wayang, one of the children of Mount Malabar, in the South Bandung area and empties into the Java Sea. Therefore the Citarum river has a lot of potential for harmony in the lives of many people. In fact, the condition of the Citarum river is very worrying with the many environmental pollution violations committed by irresponsible people. This research was conducted using the qualitative analysis content method based on secondary data to describe and analyze the concept of environment and development. Data collection was carried out by means of literature studies and interviews. The paper aims to analyze the role played by Greenpeace in reducing violations of environmental pollution and rehabilitating the Citarum river basin (DAS). In general, Greenpeace carries out its role as a world organization that cares about environmental issues by carrying out the rule application and socialization functions which are expected to reduce toxic waste in the Citarum river basin. The expected outputs of this research are scientific journals and intellectual property rights as a form of the results of this research so that they are more useful for science, especially in the field of NGOs and the environment.
