Abstract

The integration of engine into the wooden boat needs good knowledge ofeffective engine installation technique. Otherwise, the function of engine will notharmonic with the aims to move the boat properly to be optimum. The effectivenessof engine installation has link to engine foundation, the position of propeller axispoint at the height of keel and the stern. Two systems of engine installation, whichhave experimented and observed its effectiveness; first the lobe point of propelleraxis at the horizontal position just on the middle of the height of the “L” pillarbetween the keel and bosom of stern ceiling. Secondly, the propeller horizontal axishole in the point at the mid-height of keel-end and the ceiling of stern as the propellerposition. The result found that the first technique causes the power of engine weakeras compare to the second one; whilst the keel and engine fundation have to bemodified so that the position of engine foundation can be well on horizontal line, which caused change of the keel strength or the boat strength will be lesser. Hence,by mean the propeller axis lobe point at the mid-height between keel-end and thestern bosom found to be effective as the function of engine as power to move the boatworks better with less engine noise and vibration than the other technique.

Abstract

Microalgae has an important role in the world of fisheries, because the availability of microalgae is needed as a natural feed in the hatchery business of fish and shrimp. One type of microalgae that is potential to be developed as a natural feed is Dunaliella salina. Factors that influence affect the density and carotenoids of D. salina is the intensity of light because it has an important role in the process of photosynthesis. This study aims to get the best light intensity in increasing the density and content of D. salina carotenoids. This research was conducted on 12-21 May 2019. Located in the Natural Feed Laboratory, Center for Brackish Aquaculture Fisheries (BBPBAP) Jepara. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments giving different light intensities namely P1 (2,500 lux), P2 (3,500 lux), P3 (4,500 lux) and P4 (5,500 lux) with 3 replications. Growth was observed for 10 days by calculating daily density and carotenoid content on the 6th day. The results showed that different light intensities affected the density and content of D. salina carotenoids. The highest density and carotenoid content was found in the light intensity of 5,500 lux with a density of 637.87 x 10 4 cells /ml and the carotenoid content of 1.45 µg /ml.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem in the coastal of Darul Aman Village has been seriously degradated. This condition can affect gastropods live in the area. The purpose of this study was to determine the density and sex ratio of mangrove snails Telescopium telescopium in mangrove ecosystem. This study was conducted in September 2014 in the mangrove ecosystems of Darul Aman Village Rupat Distric. The method used in this study was a survey method. Location study was divided into three stations. Snail T. telescopium sample was collected by hand-picking directly in five plots of 2 m x 2 m for each station. The snail sex determination was done from colour and shape observation of gonad in laboratory. Variance Analysis (ANOVA) was used to test the significance differences of mangrove snail density between stations. During the research, a total of 77 samples of snail mangroves, with sizes ranging from 59.0 to 98.1 mm and a weight of 24.83 to 84.26 g was obtained. Average density of mangrove snails obtained 0.60±0.379 to 2.05±0.411 (ind/m2). Mangrove snail density was significantly different between stations (sig.<0.05). Morisita index value at the third station shows that the distribution pattern of mangrove snail is uniform (Id <1.0). Sex ratio (male and female) of mangrove snails was 1: 1.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of different doses of booster grotop in feed on the growth and survival of Asian Redtail (Hemibagrus nemurus) maintained in peat swamp media. This research was conducted from 27 March - 05 May 2020 at the Laboratory of Aquaculture Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. The container used was an aquarium measuring 60 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm as many as 15 units with a stocking density of 12 fish/60 L. This study used a completely randomized design method (CRD) one factor with five levels of treatment and three repetitions. The level of treatment applied in the study was P0 = without giving Boster Grotop (Control), P1 = dose of Boster Grotop 25 g/kg of feed, P2 = dose of Boster Grotop 30 g/kg of feed. P3 = dose of Boster Grotop 35 g/kg of feed and P4 = dose of Boster Grotop 40 g/kg of feed. The results showed that giving boster grotop with different doses in the feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on growth but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the survival rate of the Asian Redtail seeds. The best treatment was found at a boster grotop dose of 40 g/kg of feed, which produced protease enzyme activity (0.1731 IU/mL), total weight growth (5.11 g), total length growth (3.73 cm), specific growth rate (3.67%), feed efficiency (72.30%), feed conversion (1.38), survival rate (86.11%).

Abstract

Tidal lowland is a potential land for aquaculture, however it should be manage intensively in order to give a good and sustainable contribution for society. Tidal fenomenon and rainfall will interacted with water quantity and quality which will used as fish media culture. Fish need optimal water to support its growth and survival. Based on measure and water analysis in two locations, at Mulyasari village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatera, tidal and rainfall gave effect to physical, chemical and biological of water quality and quantity. Related to the change of weather where in the second year (2016) the dry season was longer than rainy season since 2015,the rainfall was only about 200 mm- 310 mm/month. The lower of rainfall effected to the water level in canals and influent the brightness and turbidity, sea intrution that brought salinity about 5-15 ppt in the water.Acidity was also decline about 3.5-5 with ammonia- free reached 0.25 mg/L. Nitrate and nitrite were in common such a natural water condition, yet pyrite oxidized that caused the water and land tobe reddish yellow and looked like greasy in the surface. These condition would be harmfull for fish. The tidal and rainfall was also effect plankton abundance. The data shows that fitoplankton and zooplankton were higher in the canals than in the pond.
