Abstract

A study aims to understand the effectiveness of Eichhornia crassipes asbioaccumulator of Pb present in the Sail River water in Pekanbaru has beenconducted on May 2009. Water and Eichhornia samples were collected from 4sampling points that are distributed along the river. Parameters measured were Pbcontent in the water and in the Eichhornia samples, and also water qualityparameters such as temperature, brightness, dissolved oxygen and pH. Resultsshown that Pb content in the water ranged from 0.36-0.45 ppm, while in theEichhornia , they were 0.02-0.04 ppm (in the root), 0.01-0.03 ppm (in the trunk)and 0.02-0.03 ppm (in the leaf). Based on these results, it can be concluded thatthe Pb content in the water is higher than that of the Pb allowed to be in the water(PP 82, 2001)

Abstract

Experiment on designing of smoking cabinet technology to producedsmoked-fish for cottage scale aquaindustry and to evaluate produced smoked fishorganoleptic and coast have been done. The result shows that small and middlescales smoking fish designed well accountable functionally to produced smokedfish, that caught from marine and fresh waters and cultured fish. Organolepticallythe smoked fish well consumed by the panelists, with value in between 60%-70%depend on the species of smoked fish. The cost of smoked fish produced similarto the market price of smoked fish produced traditionally, the production cost offish materials used alone approximately 73% of market price. This situation opensthe opportunity to improve efficiency of design, engineering and technique ofsmoking.

Abstract

Difficulties to obtain good wooden materials as vessels primary materials conduce to drop the quality and the lifetime of a ship. To satisfy new ship building demand, a shipyard tends to apply fast building and ignores the ship quality, types, and dimension and materials characteristics. Shipyard also did not consider about the technical and operational aspects as rule and regulations for wooden vessels. Un-optimal ship construction make it low in quality and at the end, it cannot be used directly after handover. In general, the cause of damage of ship was due to unsatisfying of construction criteria such as the types of wood, including the age and the length of the wood used for its construction. In addition, it had been found that there were unsatisfied ships operating under construction regulation.
