Abstract

This research is aimed  to gather  and describe the forms of idiom  and its meaning that used by the speaker of Jambi Malay Language Bungo Malay Dialect. There are three steps conducted in the research, they are collecting data, analyzing data, and presenting the result of analysis.Incollecting data, the method that is used known as observational and conversational method, by applying some techniques, namely non participant observational technique, note taking, record, and elicitation technique.Then, in analyzing data, the writer used descriptive qualitative approach in order to explain the forms and their meaning that resulted from the idioms.In addition, the writer also applay referential method in analyzing that can  connect and compare  the elements that belong to language itself.Moreover, the writer used informal method for presenting the result of analysis.By applying morphological approach in doing analysis,  the writer found that  idioms  derived from the combination of lexeme  outcome some parts of speech ,namely  adjective  is 28  words, noun  is 27  words, and verb is only  17 words. Finally, the writer concludes that the idiom expression that used by Jambi Malay Language Bungo Malay Dialect  speakers is mostly belong to adjective and noun . The appearance of these two kinds of  parts  of speech can be stated as the explanation of the condition and the nature of its topic from the speakers in communication process                                                                                     Keywords: Morphology, Idiom, Jambi Malay Language, Bungo Malay Dialect, Parts of Speech

Abstract

This research analyzes about the moral values found in the film My sister Keeper by Nick Cassavatess. The purposes of this research are to describe kinds of moral values and to describe the good impacts of moral values found in the film My Sister’s Keeper by Nick Cassavatess. In this research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative methods proposed by Creswell (1994) which uses descriptive technique to describe and to analyze the data. The data is analyzed through some ways: identifying, classifying, analyzing and making conclusion. In this research, the writer used theory from Linda and Eyre’s (1997). The results of this research are some kinds of moral value such as honesty, bravery, peace ability, self discipline, respect, kind and friendly, confidence, love and affection, fair and loyalty. The writer also explains the good impact of moral values on the main characters as seen in the film My Sister’s Keeper that Sara Fitzgerald and Anna Fitzgerald has different moral values but after Kate died, the relationship between both of them be better. The most dominant kinds of moral values found in the film My Sister’s Keeper by Nick Cassavetes is Bravery.Key words: Moral Value, Good impact, My Sister’s Keeper

Abstract

This research analyzes about the moral values and their good impacts in Hacksaw Ridge movie by Mel Gibson. The goals of this research are to explain the moral values and the good impacts of moral values itself from this movie. In this research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method, because it helps the writer to explain the data in the form of phrase and sentence. The data is analyzed through some ways: identify, classify, analyze, and conclusion. The writer describes and analyses sentences from conversation of characters in Hacksaw Ridge Movie that contain moral values within it.             There are two kinds result in this research, they are moral values and their good impacts. Moral values that the writer found from this movie are moral values of being, such as honesty, courage, peace ability, self-discipline, self reliance and potential, and moral values of giving, such as loyalty, respect, love, and unselfishness. The writer also found some good impacts of these moral values. First, moral value can improve someone’s high self confidence. Second, moral value make someone has patience. And third, moral value can create someone’s care.           Key words: Good impact, Hacksaw ridge, Moral value.

Abstract

This research analyzes about the types of violence, causes and the impacts for violence in the Slumdog Millionaire movie by Danny Boyle. This research uses descriptive qualitative method which is according to Bodgan and Bikle (1982) explain that the collected data which is used this method is in form of words as picture rather than numbers related to Slumdog Millionaire movie. The data is analyzed through some ways: identify, classify, analyze, and conclude. The results of this analysis the writer found 17 types of violence such as physical violence, verbal violence, sexual violence and neglect. Violence received by children results in two cases, positive and negative. Positive which can result in children getting stronger in facing problems and becoming independent. While from the negative side it results in depression,flashback and ect. However the violence was caused by several pressure factors from the social stress and family.The analysis concluded that the movie illustrated the existence of violence. The vargant juvenile had to experinced miserable lives without goverment protection. But in this movie it is also shows that homeless children can also succeed cause to the bad past they have experience.Keywords: Psychological Violence, Slumdog Millionaire.

Abstract

This research analyzes about response and impact psychology’s audience about the main characters in Zootopia film, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde although they conflict use the psychological approach. The sources of data are the audience responses of “Zootopia” film with subtitle. The researcher uses Reader Response Criticism from Charless E. Bressler (1998) to find out the audience response of the main character. From the analysis it can be concluded according to Bressler (1998), every audiences will give a different perspective and reaction toward what they read, and it can be influenced by the audience’s experience. From those interpretation of all audiences, it can be explained that mostly of them have same interpretation of Nick and Judy’s conflict. It can be seen from how the audience reacted toward them actions and conflict differently. From the responses of Zootopia, the researcher get the psychology impacts to the audiences. The psychology impacts of Zootopia film are positive and negative impact. The positive of psychology impacts are Happiness, Inspiration, and Love. Abstract

This research analyzes about the suffragettes’ story in campaigning women’s suffrage as reflected in Suffragette film. The purposes of this research are to explain bad treatments over women in male – dominated society, to describe the struggles of the suffragettes in suffragettes’ campaign pursuing the “votes for women” and the related history facts toward suffragettes’ campaign. In analyzing the research, the writer uses feminist literary criticism and some supporting theories. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data is formed in words and pictures. The data is analyzed through four procedures: identifying, classifying, analyzing and making conclusion. The results of this research are bad treatments over women in male – dominated society: women’s stereotyping, inequality in the workplace, and women’s subordination in marriage. Later, the writer finds out the struggle and the suffering of these women in campaigning women’s suffrage: consciousness – raising, peaceful campaign, and militant campaign; the last, the writer finds some related history facts toward suffragettes’ campaign as reflected in Suffragette film. Key words: Struggle, Suffering, Suffragette, Women’s suffrage campaign, Feminism, History
