Abstract

The purpose of this study isto analyze the uptake of carbon in polluted waters and unpolluted based on suspended sediment concentration in Rupat Strait. This study used multivariate statistics of Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and regression analysis to clarity the relationship between suspended sediments and primary productivity with carbon uptake. The results indicate that carbon uptake in polluted waters range from 0.023-0.026 tonC/m2/year and unpolluted ranged from 0.034- 0.038 tonC/m2/year. PCA analysis shows that the two main axes (F1 and F2) can represent 82.26% of the total diversity of distribution, indicate the contribution of F1 is 70.08% and F2 is 12.18%. The relationship between total suspended sediment with carbon uptake clearly show if total suspended sediment is higher, the carbon uptake will be lower. On the other hand the relationship between primary productivity and carbon uptake, indicate abundance of primary productivity, the carbon uptake will behigher.

Abstract

This study was conducted in October 2013. The aimed of this research to determined how the marketing constraints processed fish, comparing the costrequired by each institution marketing of processed fish, and know the marketing margin and marketing processe fish, known the big profit margin earned by the traderson the marketing of processed fish in the village of Tanjung Medang. The method used in this study is the method of survey respondents by the number offish processors and the number of 12 people who work astradersa mounted to 5 people.  Marketing costs were influenced by the distance of the village of Tanjung Medang to destination marketing, was further influenced by theamount of fish taken orpurchased more and more fish were purchased then its fixed costs will be greater as well. The total cost of marketing every different marketing agency that was highest on the total marketing cost collector was equal to four Rp 50.428.332/month , because these carry traders into four Regions of processed fish to Bengkalis so much so that the greater the total cost was found , while the lowest total cost of marketing was the first collector Rp 39.128.332/month with total revenues, and the value of marketing margins in the village of Tanjung Medang very different, for the highest value of marketing margins in the second collector as much as 68.9 % with the type of fish Lomek processed, while the lowest marketing margin on the first collector as much as 35.9 % with the type of fish processed chicken feathers and marketing agencies value the highest profit margin obtained by the two traders to profit margins Rp 8.979/kg value to the marketing area of Malaysia, while the profit margin for the lowest value obtained by the first traders to profit margin value of Rp 2.255/kg to Tanjung Balai Karimun marketing area.

Abstract

This study was designed to assess the potential of acepromazine (ACP) asa transquilizer in catfish (Pangasius pangasius) during transportation withdifferent timed of administration (morning and afternoon). This research wasconducted by using method of dipping the fish into water mixed withacepromazine. Fish tha used for the study were 3 weeks old catfish, which have 5cm-body length and the body weight around 6 grams. Six hundred catfish weredivided into a completely randomized design with a 2x6 factorial arrangement. The first factor was dipping time that consisted of two levels, morning andafternoon. The second factor was dosage of acepromazine that consisted of sixlevels, 0 ppm, 5 ppm, 15 ppm, 25 ppm, 35 ppm, and 45 ppm. The result showedthat the effective dose of acepromazine being used in catfish was 25 ppm with adipping time in the morning. The onset of this dosage was 96.55 minutes, theduration length was 81.76 minutes, and the mortality rate was equal to 10%.

Abstract

The study was conducted in June 2013 in the eastern waters of RupatStrait. The purpose of the study was to determine the depositional environmentand environmental changes along Rupat Straitbased on analysis of surfacesediment, suspended sediment concentration, and sediment accumulation value. The method used was survey method. Location of the studywas divided into 15sampling points based onthe pattern oftidal currents and source materials into thewater. The results showed that the study area was dominated by fine s andsediments with as and sediment type. The average concentration of suspendedsolids in coastal waters of Sumatra washigherthan that of the Rupat. The waters ofthe eastern part of the Rupat Strait received sediment from the coastal erosion andsupply of material from the two major rivers; i.e. Dumai River and Masjid River.Characteristics and distribution patterns in marine sediments were influenced bythe character of the sea bottom, the pattern of tidal currents and waves .Keywords : Charackteristics of Sediments, Surface Sediment, Rupat Strait.
