Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of character education at SD Negeri 012 Rambah Samo through learning activities and students' daily activities. The study used a non-participant observation method, focusing on the four main values ​​of character education: discipline, responsibility, honesty, and cooperation. Data were obtained through direct observation of student behavior and the role of teachers in guiding and implementing character habits. The observations indicate that the implementation of character education at the school is in the good category, characterized by fairly consistent discipline routines, the implementation of responsibilities through duty and completion of learning assignments, and student cooperation in group activities. However, the value of honesty still requires reinforcement, especially when students face learning evaluations. Teachers play an active role through role modeling, providing guidance, and positive reinforcement. Overall, character education at SD Negeri 012 Rambah Samo has been implemented quite effectively, although improvements in honesty and equitable student involvement in group work are still needed.

Abstract

This Study aims to describe the types of code mixing and the functions of code mixing in the speech of Indonesian language teachers in grade VII of SMP Negeri 13 Kupang. This study user quatitative descriptive approach with date collection teachhinques in the form od observation, interviews, recordings, and documentation. The date obtained were teacher speech containing code mixing during the laerning process. The results showed that there were two types of code mixing used by teacher 1) inner code mixing in the form of inserting Kupang malay elements, 2) outer code mixing in the form of using words or phrases from Inggris. The forms of code mixing found included the insertion of words, phrases, clauses, interrogative, sentences, and imperative sentences. The functions od code mixing include 1) Building familiarity anf social interaction, 2) providing instruction of commands, 3) explaining the meaning of learning material, 4) expressing feelings and emotions.

Abstract

This research article aims to examine Raditya Dika's novel entitled Timun Jelita Vol 2. The things that will be studied in this novel are the intrinsic elements and sociology of literature with a scope of discussion such as the author's social context, the depiction of society in the novel, and the social values ​​contained in the novel. The novel Timun Jelita Vol 2 is a comedy genre novel that presents many interesting events that occur in the novel. The analysis used Wellek & Warren's sociological literary approach. This article uses a qualitative descriptive method to present data in the form of descriptions to the maximum. The data collection techniques applied in this article are reading, listening, and taking notes. The results of the research presented are part of the intrinsic elements in the form of themes, plots, settings, characters and characterizations as well as the message conveyed by the author. In addition, the results of the research conducted present a picture of society in the novel, the author's social context and social values ​​in the novel such as the value of compassion, the value of solidarity and also the value of struggle represented by the characters in the novel.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze in-depth the Indonesian language speaking skills of students in a formal learning context, encompassing linguistic and non-linguistic aspects, such as pronunciation accuracy, intonation, comprehension choices, sentence structure, fluency, and the ability to convey ideas coherently, clearly, and communicatively. This study aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of students' level of speaking skills, the types of errors that frequently occur, and the factors that influence these speaking skills. The results can then be used as a basis for designing more effective strategies, methods, and evaluations of Indonesian language learning that focus on improving oral communication skills.

Abstract

Artikel ini ditulis dengan tujuan menganalisis gaya bahasa dalam novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Gaya bahasa adalah ciri khas penggunaan bahasa sebagai ekspresi gagasan penulis yang memiliki nilai keindahan yang menggambarkan kepribadian penulis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang berfokus pada analisis gaya bahasa dalam novel Bumi Manusia. Hasil analisis novel ini menunjukkan bahwa Pramoedya Ananta Toer menggunakan beberapa gaya bahasa dan berbagai ragam bahasa untuk menghidupkan karakter dan konteks kolonial. Dalam novel ini, termasuk sarkasme, metafora, dan hiperbola. Makna sarkasme adalah gaya bahasa yang menggunakan satire dan kritik untuk mengkritik berbagai aspek. Makna metafora adalah gaya bahasa yang menggunakan simile untuk membawa makna yang lebih dalam pada kehidupan. Sementara itu, makna hiperbola adalah gaya bahasa yang cenderung melebih-lebihkan untuk menekankan emosi dalam suatu peristiwa.

Abstract

The phenomenal novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata is a fictional story that portrays the reality of education in remote areas, touching on issues of social and economic injustice. This article specifically analyzes chapter 1, entitled Ten New Students, as the narrative and thematic foundation of the entire story. This opening chapter effectively presents the core conflict of the threat of closing to Muhammadiyah Elementary School (SD), the oldest school in Belitung, due to the minimum requirement of ten students. This analysis focuses on the dialogue between extreme limitations represented by the school's dilapidated physical condition and the students' poverty with a heroic and invincible spirit of learning. We will dissect how the dedication of educators, the miracle of the arrival of the tenth student, and the steely determination of children like Lintang, form an inspiring narrative that reaffirms that the essence of education is in hope and will, not in the luxury of facilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the educational values conveyed by the author in the novel Sang Pemimpi. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that through the novel Sang Pemimpi, Andrea Hirata seeks to convey educational values that are highly beneficial for readers through a varied narrative presentation, thereby avoiding a monotonous impression in delivering educational messages. The educational values identified in the novel consist of four types, namely: (a) religious educational values, which reflect a perspective that binds humans to God, the Creator of the universe and all its contents; (b) moral educational values, which serve as a measure of propriety in human behavior within social life; (c) social educational values, which refer to a relatively enduring awareness and emotional attitude toward an object, idea, or person; and (d) cultural educational values, which are related to societal habits and traditions that foster attitudes of hard work and togetherness.

Abstract

This article aims to realize the influence of the use of slang on standard Indonesian among students of Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education (PGMI), the most influential use of slang in students' daily communication, both in direct communication and on social media, the research process carried out was observation and analysis of conversations between students. The results of this study prove that slang tends to be used to build closeness, familiarity, and statements of group identity. However, the superiority of slang also has an impact on decreasing students' ability to apply standard Indonesian in formal contexts, such as academic writing and presentations, this study concludes that the influence of slang use is very influential in the stability of standard language use. Therefore, efforts are needed to habituate the use of standard Indonesian in academic contexts through guidance and language training..

Abstract

The flash floods and landslides that struck Sumatra in November–December 2025 not only left deep sorrow for nearly 1,000 affected families, but also triggered a wave of sharp criticism regarding the government’s communication during emergency situations. Much of this criticism was expressed in the form of harsh, sarcastic remarks that highlighted the insensitivity and slowness of authorities. This paper examines the phenomenon of sarcasm as a tool of public criticism, particularly when responding to statements made by officials that were perceived as disappointing. Using a pragmatic approach and critical discourse analysis, this study finds that sarcasm does not emerge without reason; rather, it arises from a striking mismatch between officials’ statements and the harsh realities on the ground, compounded by responses that appeared half-hearted and lacking in empathy in communication. The findings show that sarcasm has become an effective means for the public to voice dissatisfaction amid the dominance of social media, while simultaneously signaling a crisis in disaster communication governance that urgently needs improvement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan menganalisis nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van der Wijck karya Hamka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif-analitis untuk mengkaji representasi budaya Minangkabau dalam cerita tersebut. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa novel ini kaya akan nilai-nilai budaya, khususnya nilai-nilai Minangkabau, dan menyoroti konflik antara nilai-nilai tradisional dan modern. Masyarakat Minangkabau digambarkan sangat berakar pada adat istiadat, termasuk sistem kekerabatan matrilineal dan peran keluarga yang kuat dalam perjodohan. Nilai-nilai budaya memengaruhi nilainilai sosial, sebagaimana tercermin dalam hierarki sosial yang kuat antara kaum bangsawan ("bangsawan berdarah biru") dan rakyat jelata. Konflik sosial antara nilainilai status sosial dan nilai-nilai pribadi (seperti cinta, pendidikan, dan moralitas) menjadi tema sentral. Cinta antara Zainuddin dan Hayati diuji oleh tekanan budaya tetapi tetap abadi secara emosional sebagai cerminan kesetiaan, pengorbanan, dan cinta sejati meskipun mereka terpisah
