Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the decline in interest in reading printed books among students of the Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGMI) at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The study employs a qualitative approach with a field research design to gain an in-depth understanding of students’ experiences, behaviors, and perceptions regarding reading printed books. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation of students selected using purposive sampling, supplemented by lecturers as additional informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with validity maintained through source and method triangulation. The results indicate that the decline in interest in reading printed books is primarily influenced by easy access to digital information, the perception that printed books are less attractive and time-consuming, limited encouragement from the academic environment, and insufficient library facilities and collections. This situation impacts students’ deep comprehension of materials, limits the use of academic references, and reduces active participation in learning activities. These findings highlight the need for learning strategies that promote effective use of printed books while utilizing digital technology proportionally, ensuring that students maintain adequate academic literacy skills and are prepared to become competent future educators.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on improving language skills and academic writing abilities of students in the Primary School Teacher Education Program (PGMI) at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The research employed a qualitative approach with field research methods to obtain an in-depth understanding of students’ experiences, perceptions, and practices in utilizing AI in academic activities, particularly in writing processes and appropriate language use. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants selected using purposive sampling, supported by course lecturers as additional informants. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity maintained using triangulation of sources and methods. The results indicate that AI functions as a mediator and digital scaffolding in the writing process, assisting students in organizing outlines, improving sentence structures, and conducting iterative revisions. AI provides fast and personalized linguistic feedback, enhancing students’ language awareness, self-confidence, efficiency, and creativity in producing academic writing. The study also shows that AI supports reflective learning and independent learning, although the development of critical analytical skills still requires additional pedagogical interventions. This research confirms that AI can strengthen students’ language and writing skills while emphasizing the need for responsible use of technology to maintain originality and academic quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media use on the information literacy skills of students in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI) Program at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design to obtain an in-depth understanding of students’ practices in using social media and their information literacy skills based on empirical conditions in the field. The research subjects were selected through purposive sampling, involving PGMI students with a relatively high intensity of social media use in academic activities, supported by additional informants consisting of course lecturers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through the stages of data reduction,data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that social media use has an influence on the information literacy skills of PGMI students. Social media facilitates access to academic information and increases students’ interest and engagement in the learning process. However, this convenience is not fully accompanied by students’ ability to evaluate the credibility and validity of information sources, resulting in a tendency to use information without adequate verification. The discussion highlights that information literacy functions as a controlling mechanism in the use of social media. Strengthening information literacy skills is necessary to ensure that social media is utilized critically, responsibly, and in accordance with academic standards, particularly for PGMI students as prospective teachers.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis kesalahan bahasa Indonesia. Ditemukan dalam makalah akademis yang ditulis oleh mahasiswa semester pertama jurusan Studi Islam. Program Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGMI) UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. Data penelitian terdiri dari lima makalah siswa dari kelas 1E di Indonesia. Kursus Bahasa. Metode Kualitatif Deskriptif dengan Teknik Analisis Kesalahan Dipekerjakan. Kesalahan Diklasifikasikan Menjadi Tujuh Kategori: Ejaan, Penggunaan Huruf Kapital, Tanda Baca, Morfologi, Sintaksis, Kohesi dan Koherensi, dan Bahasa Akademik Stvle. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan ejaan adalah yang paling dominan, diikuti oleh Kesalahan Penulisan Huruf Kapital dan Tanda Baca. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semester pertama Mahasiswa PGMI Masih Membutuhkan Bimbingan Intensif untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Menulis Akademik Mereka Keterampilan dalam Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract

In the current digital era, almost overall human activities are very close to online media. Did not rule out the possibility of the Election Contestation or the 2024 Presidential Election will be very close to online media. In this research. Researchers try to conduct an analysis related to the news that has been uploaded by Kompas.com online media using the critical discourse analysis technique Norman Fairclough model. The analysis was carried out because the researcher wanted to see whether in the news that had been uploaded during the period before the election until the election was completed, there was a separate agenda or in this case as a medium of reporting, Kompas.com had a connection with certain pairs. In this study, researchers will use descriptive qualitative research methods with the acquisition of data through the IMA application from PT. Indonesia Indicator. This study also used the theory of critical discourse analysis to see how the Kompas.com reporting process during the 2024 Presidential Election event took place.

Abstract

This study aims to describe morphological processes including affixation, reduplication, and compounding in the language style of 1E students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education (PGMI). This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data were words and phrases containing morphological processes found in students’ academic writings such as essays and course reports. The data sources were written assignments of 1E PGMI students. Data collection techniques included documentation, observation, and note-taking. Data analysis was conducted using the flow model of analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that (1) the forms of affixation used by students included prefixes, suffixes, and confixes, with prefixes meN-, ber-, and di- being the most dominant. Some errors were found, especially in the use of di- and meN- prefixes. (2) The forms of reduplication found were full reduplication and affixed-base reduplication, with minor writing errors. (3) The forms of compounding consisted of compound nouns, compound verbs, and compound adjectives, with compound nouns being the most frequently used.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze the influence of regional language use on the discussion process of students in Class 1E of the Islamic Elementary Teacher Education (PGMI) Study Program at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design to obtain an in-depth understanding of students’ experiences, perceptions, and empirical conditions during classroom discussions. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving students selected through purposive sampling, supported by additional informants from course lecturers. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the use of regional languages has a significant influence on the student discussion process. Regional languages tend to increase students’ confidence, activeness, and spontaneity in expressing opinions and participating in discussions. However, the dominant use of regional languages may also create communication barriers for students who do not share the same linguistic background, thereby affecting mutual understanding and the equal distribution of participation. Abstract

Indonesian plays a crucial role as the national language and academic language in higher education. For students, particularly those in the 1E program of Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI) at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, language holds significant value in everyday communication. Naturally, various barriers arise in using language. Despite the richness of language, there are barriers that can undermine interpersonal relationships due to language differences. These linguistic differences give rise to problems such as disintegration due to language differences and impaired communication. Many students retain a strong grasp of their regional languages, which carry over into the university environment. Students who tend to use regional languages typically use them to communicate with friends from the same region.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan singkatan yang tidak tepat dalam percakapan grup WhatsApp di kalangan mahasiswa kelas Kewirausahaan D Siang di ST Bhinneka berdasarkan aturan Ejaan yang Ditingkatkan (EYD). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh terdiri dari enam pesan singkat yang berisi tata bahasa, ejaan, dan singkatan non-standar yang tidak sesuai dengan aturan EYD, seperti dikls, yg, bsk, brp, rmh, dan gk, yang digunakan berulang kali. Penggunaan bahasa yang tidak sesuai dengan EYD berpotensi menciptakan kebiasaan yang tidak sesuai dengan radar. Kata kunci: Bahasa, Sistem Ejaan yang Ditingkatkan (EYD), singkatan, WhatsApp, siswa

Abstract

ABSTRAK Asesmen sumatif merupakan bentuk evaluasi akhir yang dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui tingkat ketercapaian hasil belajar peserta didik setelah seluruh rangkaian pembelajaran dalam satu periode selesai dilaksanakan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan asesmen sumatif dalam pembelajaran teks argumentasi dan teks persuasif pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia kelas XI fase F SMAN 12 Kota Jambi. Metode penulisan yang digunakan meliputi kajian pustaka dan wawancara dengan guru Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa asesmen sumatif dilaksanakan pada akhir semester dalam bentuk tes tertulis berupa soal pilihan ganda yang disusun berdasarkan kebijakan sekolah dan indikator pembelajaran yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil asesmen sumatif digunakan sebagai dasar penentuan nilai rapor, kenaikan kelas, dan peserta didik, serta dimanfaatkan oleh guru sebagai bahan refleksi untuk menilai efektivitas pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, asesmen sumatif tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat evaluasi akhir, tetapi juga berkontribusi dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia.
